The funniest thing I think about Billford and their obvious breakup, is that I don't think Ford knew they were dating.
I don't think he was picking up what Bill was putting down, honestly I think he looked at what Bill was putting down and asked, "did you drop this?" And Bill fell more in love with how polite Ford is.
Cause the show and the book read like Bill was heavily invested in their relationship but Ford's autistic ass didn't even fucking realise Bill liked him at all like that.
And it's not that I think Ford didn't like Bill that way, I think Ford was also in love with Bill but Ford's autistic ass thought process was, "this is just the feeling everyone feels when they're passionate about a new interest! That's it, Bill is just part of my new interest, obviously I want to be around him all the time and talk to him all the time and hold his hand and hear about his day and tell him about mine and solve complex equations with him and share all my dreams and aspirations with him and kiss him!" And then he just went about the rest of his life thinking nothing more about it.
So while Bill had the full understanding that they were in a loving romantic relationship, Ford just thought they were like lab partners or something and that he was just strangely happy about it
