Halloween Progress Report #1: Accent Cosmetics

I found the perfect face makeup and nail polish for my Lagoona costume at the drugstore today! We've got...

Halloween Progress Report #1: Accent Cosmetics

The Covergirl Trunaked eyeshadow palette, "That's Rad" (not quite as bright or saturated in real life)

The Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Pearl nail polish, "Rare Red Pearl"

Halloween Progress Report #1: Accent Cosmetics

And the Burt's Bees gloss lip crayon, "Pacific Coast."

The names being as fitting as they are was purely coincidental. I just thought they looked the closest to what I'm going for.

I'm not used to wearing this stuff, and I'm garbage at nail polish application, but I'm doing it for authenticity.

Bonus: Each individual eyeshadow has a name that works well with Lagoona's personality, too!

In order from left to right on the palette, they are:

Leg Warmers

Take a Chill Pill

Scrunchie

No Duh!

Bodysuit

Totally Tubular

Bangin'

Pump it Up

Again, a super fun coincidence that makes me even more excited for Halloween!

Halloween Progress Report #3: Primary Cosmetics

These are the cosmetics that are vital to looking like our favorite Australian sea monster. For my skin color...

Halloween Progress Report #3: Primary Cosmetics

This Turquoise Paradise face/body paint from Fusion Body Art. (Although, I ordered mine through a business called Clown Antics.) I'm going to try to be delicate with how much I put on. I know Lagoona is quite pale; I don't want to end up looking like Lorna or Honey when that's just not what I'm going for. If I need to blend in a bit of white after the fact, so be it. I'll test it on the back of my hand over the weekend and see what I need to do.

My hair is too short on its own to be styled into Lagoona's signature long curls, so I just went and got a blonde wig with blue streaks. It probably won't be the best wig ever, but it doesn't need to be. It's for a Halloween costume. I'm not a professional cosplayer. I'm just having fun.

For my fishy fins and ears, as well as my webbed fingers, I will be following some video tutorials by NsomniaksDream. She explains the steps very clearly and thoroughly, and the results look pretty good (in my amateur opinion, anyway)!

I already cut out the foam structures for the ears and fins. Now it's just a matter of working with the latex and adhesive.

23 days left to get it all together--18 if I want to dress up for an upcoming Halloween party. I just have to do my best!
