Gale found himself in a strange dynamic with Minthara after the end of his relationship with his goddess Mystra. ~~ She gave not even a final glance back to him to see if he was following behind. She knew he was watching her. No tadpole was needed to know that she not only did she expect him to follow, but she knew he would. This had become their strange relationship; a demeaning phrase or pointed look was all to convey the silent invitation to meet her in her tent – to help her achieve the pleasure she deserved.
He wasn't quite sure how it had come to this. He was not her first pick. Gods, he did not even think he was her second pick.

Summary: Gale had a habit of loving too intensely.
He had learned it was easier to bottle it up and let the emotions pass than admit them. And normally that would have been fine. It would become a temporary impediment to eventually get over —the affections would dwindle, and he would replace the object of his affection with something else.
Yet now, alongside the Netherese orb nestled in his chest and the mindflayer tadpole that wriggled behind his eye, the potent sussur flower had rooted itself in his lungs because of this love. And like his other afflictions, it was another problem that couldn't be solved with magic.
