"What happened there?" Levi says entering Y/n’s office.
"What do you mean? it was great!" Y/n says smiling and finishing packing the papers he needed.
"Do you think your near-death was great?" Levi says closing the door behind him, and crossing his arms.
"Look Levi, I almost died you’re right, but no cadets in my squad were killed! you can’t imagine how happy that makes me." Y/n says smiling, while leaning on the back of the chair with her eyes closed.
"But what about your fucking life?" Levi says raising his voice.
"It’s my duty as a squad leader to protect my cadets and do what I can to keep them alive, even if it costs my life." Y/n says straightening up in his chair, and looking at Levi with a steady gaze.
"Stop, I don’t want to hear this anymore." Levi says approaching the table.
"I’ve been talking to them lately, Levi they all have fathers, mothers, brothers and people who love them so much." Y/n says with a sad smile.
Levi couldn’t believe what he was hearing, she, the love of his life, the person who was always there for him, had just said that her life was the least important thing there, I mean, he never made her feel loved.
"Alright, today was a beautiful day and I’m starving, shall we eat?" Y/n says walking past Levi going to the door, but before opens.
Levi sighed sadly, but followed Y/n to the cafeteria, and during lunch, Levi could only think that Y/n wouldn't be there, she would never know the importance she has in his life, even when she always showed affection and concern by him.
He looked at her sadly, seeing her laughing with Hange, he looked at the cadets at other tables and could see the admiring gaze looking at her
"What is she talking about? Everyone here would die inside if she died." Levi thought.
"Big day guys, get some rest, you deserve it." Erwin says getting up from the table and leaving.
"I still have some paperwork to finish, I'm going too." Y/n says getting up too.
"I'll go with you." Levi says getting up, and going with Y/n side by side to his office.
Levi went to his office, and took the papers he needed going to Y/n's office, this was nothing new for them, often so they wouldn't be alone, one would go to each other's office to keep each other company while they finished the work.
Levi was sitting in a chair leaning against Y/n's desk, he had so much work to do, but he could only think and look at Y/n, he had so many things to say to her, so much love to give her, Levi always he tried to convince himself he had time to confess, but after seeing her almost die in front of him, after hearing the hurtful words she said, Levi realized he shouldn't waste another second of their lives.
"I was worried about you." Levi said suddenly, causing Y/n to look at him with a smile on her face.
"You don't have to worry about me Levi." She says normal making Levi almost freak out
"She doesn't understand what I mean." He thinks.
"You said before that the cadets would be missed, but if you died, you would be missed here more than all of us put together" Levi says and sees Y/n's smile slowly diminish.
"Well...I'm sure if I die, they'll find another great squad leader to replace me." Y/n says going back to signing the papers and Levi is seconds away from grabbing her and making her see how special she is.
"Fuck Y/n, you don't understand." Levi says raising his voice a little, but before Y/n can question, someone knocks on the door.
"You must be kidding." Levi thinks when he hears Y/n yell 'come in' and Eren slowly open the door.
"What happened Eren?" Y/n asks.
"Captain Y/n, Captain Hange is looking for you." Eren says looking at Levi, who is turned around in his chair, facing Eren.
"Well, tell her I'll be right back, thanks Eren." Y/n says already getting up, and Eren closes the door.
"I'll see what Hange wants, so let's talk later." Y/n says smiling and walking past Levi once more, but he's had enough, he won't wait any longer.
"I love you." Levi says still with his back to Y/n, she freezes and looks at him in surprise.
"What did you say?" She asks turning to him.
"I love you, I love you more than myself, so tell me Y/n, what am I going to do if you die?" Levi says turning to Y/n who is still in shock looking at him.
"Today when you almost died, I felt my world fall apart, I can’t live without you Y/n, I can’t." Levi says looking into Y/n’s eyes.
"Levi…"
He gets up from his chair, and walks over to Y/n who is frozen in place.
"Who will I talk to if you die? Who will help me take care of the brats? Who will give me a smile enough to brighten my day? You said they'll easily replace you if you die, but no one can replace you in mine heart Y/n, nobody." Levi says carefully taking Y/n's hand, and gently kissing the back of his hand.
Y/n feels your eyes water and a lump in your throat
"I'm also so afraid of losing you Levi, I don't want to lose you." Y/n says putting his other hand on Levi's cheek, who closes his eyes feeling Y/n's touch.
"Come here." Levi says pulling Y/n into a hug, she squeezes his shoulders, and hides her face in Levi's neck, and he hugs her waist, God, they needed this so much.
"I love you too" She says in his ear, and Levi closes his eyes.
"Let's promise we'll always get back to each other, do you promise?" Levi says pulling away a little, and taking Y/n's face with both hands.
"I promise" Y/n says with a soft smile on her face.
"You promise?" She asks, and gives Levi a kiss on the cheek.
"I promise" Levi gives a slight smile and approaches her face and giving a little kiss on her lips, it was a gentle and affectionate kiss, which conveyed all the love and affection and one felt for the other.
Well, it’s great to have someone to come back to isn’t it?
