Ranpo thinks that him and poe have been dating for the past 6 years, he's genuinely a little confused at first when poe asks him out.
I like to think that Ranpo was never very academically smart, he wasn't bad or anything but he was just kinda average.
This could also be part of why he never considered that everyone else is stupid and he was smart, he was never told he was and never thought he was.
Ranpo would be really good at comforting people because he can just figure out what's wrong without them having to say it and/or exactly what to do to make them feel better but I think he's really bad at dealing with emotions (his own and other people's)
Instead, he tries to solve the problem without having to interact with the person

He hates dealing with the problem head-on but he still cares and still wants them to feel better.

Probably not. He'd want to remember you by your name alone; he could recognize it anywhere and it only belonged to you.
He'd call you all sorts of things, but he'd certainly remember you by your name, or maybe a nickname if he thought your name wasn't fitting enough. Regardless, he'd never forget it.
Poe could call you every positive adjective in the dictionary and more. He'd write a poem every time he thought about you (which is almost every waking moment... anyways. He's down bad, but he prefers uncommon words that sound gorgeous (not quite on your level, nothing is according to him, (no word is on a higher level than your own name, but sometimes he doesn't feel worthy to use it) but I digress).
Ranpo will use pet names when he feels like it. Sometimes he'll call you his angel, precious, everything, or times you're just idiot or your own name. The best days are when he shares his candy with you, not when he's calling you angel so you can get his candy.
Chuuya prefers doll, or names to show how precious you are to him. Words aren't his thing so much, but if you need him to tell you how gorgeous (YOU ARE) he thinks you are, then he'll reassure you of how beautiful you are to him however many times you need.

Japanese Tales of Mystery and Imagination - a book review
i would like to say, before anything, that this is my favourite book of all time possibly and that this review isn’t long because it’s spoiler-free
i adore edogawa ranpo's writing. i honestly thought that i might be disappointed by his writing as i had really high expectations for it, but it surpassed my expectations. how he creates his mysteries and how he describes everything in such vivid detail that you can see it clearly in your mind's eye is just beautiful. this collection was spectacular and i really liked it. my favourite would have to be the cliff, or the psychological test. i suppose the caterpillar could also be counted as a favourite of mine, though if it was more intense, i could've easily had nightmares. i could explain why i liked those specific stories, but it would spoil them and i'd honestly hate to do that to someone. i think that it would make a lot of sense why i like these ones if someone knew what they're about. either way, i loved this book and i cannot wait to find more of his writing to read.
The Whole World and You - a song analysis
please listen to the song before reading the analysis, as usual. this song is one of my absolute favourites and it makes me unreasonably happy whenever i listen to it. this analysis is much like the one for mitski’s ‘come into the water’, as i will mention character names in it and i will also mention a certain ship, which i consider to be my absolute favourite of all time. ‘words printed all on papers that seem so mystical, it’s so magical’ i believe that from this line alone, especially if you are a friend of mine, you can tell which ship this analysis is written about. it’s ranpoe. this line simply refers to the boys’ love of words and writing, as poe is a mystery writer and ranpo is a mystery reader. aside from that, poe’s ability has to do with words, and he makes them magical, even more so than usual, by activating his ability and capturing you in the world of his creation. ‘no one’s better than you’ this line is simply ranpo to poe. because of poe’s incredible intelligence and creativity, and the fact that he too is a detective and a lover of mystery, ranpo would find him to be better than most people, perhaps even the best person there is aside from himself. poe would obviously doubt that, as he believes that there is no one better than ranpo, and that is why he, ranpo, repeats it many times throughout the song. ‘even the animals know that something’s brewing and they’re all cooing’ i think this line refers to karl, poe’s raccoon, which i know sounds very stupid but in all honesty, i do not care. the ‘something brewing’ is the relationship that’s developing between the writer and the detective, and ranpo’s simply pointing out that it’s so obvious what their relationship is that even karl could notice it. ‘i’ve even written this whole song about you, and not about me’ this line is simply ranpo expressing his love for poe, which really just shows that when he cares about someone, no matter how selfish or overly confident about himself he is, he will express it clearly and confidently because if he thinks that someone is worthy of his love, then they deserve the same praise as he does, which means that they deserve a lot of praise, which in poe’s case, he really does. ‘cause we all know these are the facts’ ranpo is a creature of logic, and he works with nothing but facts. now he is simply stating that his love for poe is nothing but a fact, leaving no room for doubt from poe’s side. poe would obviously not believe it, because he would think that he isn’t worthy of ranpo’s love or that ranpo is a lot better than he is, and as ranpo knows of his lover’s doubts, he simply states that everything he said is nothing but a fact. this song, as i said before, is one of my absolute favourite songs. it was probably one of the first songs i came up with an analysis for, but i just never wrote said analysis until now.

Can you blame those who mistook him for a child? Skinny, shameless, and with a young – even after everything so young – face. A child. No. No more. And this is his fault, isn't it? Promising to give carelessness, he rewarded him with a burden that was never intended for these shoulders. If indulging him in sweets is all that he needs to soothe his pain he will sell his entire fortune, he will carry him on his back, he will listen to his babble for days and he will stay in this book for as long as Ranpo needs. And, even if it seemed that this was still insignificant, Fukuzawa was ready to fulfill every whim, agree to any rules if only Ranpo could smile like that.
Summary: When he and Ranpo got trapped in historical novel, the greatest mystery left to solve was why on earth Ranpo doesn't want to set them free.
Or Ranpo and Fukuzawa trapped in Poe's book but it's not that obvious as it seems

Firstly, He is 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 the world's best detective. Why did you have to come around?
You were the newest member of the agency, a smart one at that. You had an ability called 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑱𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝑻𝒐 𝑨 𝑪𝒓𝒊𝒎𝒆. Your ability allows you to find lots of clues about any case., which gives you major details so you don't have to investigate further. Everyone adored your ability, which he grew jealous of by the second.
Anyone would notice by now that Ranpo was jealous just by his mood and how demanding he was today. He was roughly chewing on his candy while watching Kirako then Atsushi, then Kunikida complimenting you.
His day got even more worse when everyone was busy with their own work, it was only you and Ranpo who were free so the president assigned you both on a case.
"Whatever." Was the only thing he said while sucking on his lollipop he ordered Atsushi to buy for him. You smirked at him, you knew he was jealous. But you didn't care anyway.
Once you two arrived at the scene, you started to go on with your ability, not even giving Ranpo a chance to speak. You started to explaining the details on what happened, the police look around based on what you've told them to do, turns out you were speaking truth.
On the way back, Ranpo pouted at you. "Hey! You didn't even let me do anything! I'm suppose to be the greatest detective here. Hey!! are you listening to me?!"
You sighed. You thought 'Maybe I took this a little bit too far..?'
"Fine, fine. Sorry, Okay?" You rolled your eyes and looked away. You smirked. "Oh c'mon! It's not like you're the better one. Our intelligence ties."
He let out a "Hmph!" but his aura changed suddenly, he looked up to you. With his emerald-colored eyes open, he yells with confidence, "𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗼𝗻, 𝘄𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗲𝘀!"
