I’m 95% sure someone already said this years ago but one of my favorite things about gravityfalls is the whole ‘Trust no one’ thing which is established since the first episode of the show, so throughout the whole show you think that one of the characters is going to be a traitor. Is it going to be Stan? No! Is it going to be Ford then? Maybe another character? Maybe this character is actually Bill? There were hundreds of theories because of that one line. And then it turns out one of the messages of the show is that you should trust people. Standford took bad choices, didn’t try to fix his relationship with his brother, trusted the wrong person and isolated himself, that’s why he wrote that down. But trusting no one is not the right answer, that’s not going to help anyone Dipper and Mabel trust each other, the kids trust Stan, etc. When the characters don’t trust each other, when they fight, when they don’t listen to one another,… it’s only then when things go bad. It turns out ‘Trust no one’ wasn’t an important clue for the show, it was to show that Standford is hurt and needs help, he needs to trust people again, and every other character should trust each other as well
