Eight times Hildegunst von Mythenmetz and Homuncolossus said I love you without saying I love you
Hilde: The Shadow King and his mysterious innuendos! I possibly couldn’t imagine my life without them anymore.
Hilde: “You have carried me the rest of the way? For two days?” Homuncolossus threw the book away.
Homuncolossus: “But my way leads through Smyke’s library.” Hilde: “Mine too.” Homuncolossus: “You don’t have to do this.”
Hilde (to Kibitzer and Inazea): “He actually doesn’t look that terrifying once you’ve gotten used to the unusual sight (…) He does have his own kind of beauty when you know how to appreciate it.”
Homuncolossus: “It’s time to say goodbye. It was an honour and a pleasure to have met you.” Hilde: “And it was an honour for me to have learned from you. Even though it doesn’t make any sense now.”
Hilde (to the Booklings): “The Leather Grotto is cleansed. You can go back there. [Homuncolossus] has done that.”
Homuncolossus’ speech in Smyke’s laboratory bevor he opens the curtain.
Hilde: “Don’t do it! NO!”
A bookling plushie my mom made for me ^^❤️ His name is Dancelot Wordwright. Idk what color he was canonically, but I like blue and Dancelot is my favourite out of the bookling trio so it doesn't really matter💙

So I'm back after a few hundred years with something related to Zamonia:
It was my birthday on June first and my mom got me these!

I absolutely LOVE the art in the graphic novel! It's so beautiful and filled with references to the other Zamonia books. Also look at Hilde. Just look at him.

HE'S SUCH AN ADORABLE DORK I CAN'T ಥ‿ಥ❤️
Also I can't believe people in Bookholm genuinely think that Inazea is ugly. Like???? B*tch is ya blind???

And behold, the one and only:
✨shadow shrimp✨

I can't read german though, but I mostly remember what they're talking about in each scene. It's a shame it's not translated to more languages, I knew it's not in czech (my first language) but I thought it would be available in english or spanish (I understand it better that german and I've been learning it for a year. I had german for three years and I remember literally nothing haha)
But it'll be soooo useful when drawing fanarts. I've wanted to draw hilde or Homuncolossus for a long time but there's so little references I could find (also doesn't help that I have an art block for quite some time now and a lot of problems in school and normal life. But don't worry, I haven't forgotten about the things I wanted to draw, it's just been really hard lately). Aaaand I've never drawn a paper monster or a talking poet dinosaur before so thats that. But I'll probably have to buy the second book for more Homuncolossus references.
I'm also exited about the Labyrinth of dreaming books. I heard it's not as good as the first book, but I'll give it a try. Though it apparently ends with a cliffhanger and the third book is still not finished, so I'll probably suffer ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ
Anyways, I hope I'll get into drawing again. I'll try drawing Hilde, I should have more time soon when summer holidays start ^^
I also want to keep this fandom alive :D
OMG, that's so cool vdjgjfejdojvjrenxk ಥ‿ಥ I can't wait to see the mask ♡♡

Been some time since I posted cosplay stuff here buuuut, last year I finally worked up the motivation of putting together a book hunter cosplay.
It's nowhere near finished and there's still so much to work on but I am so madly in love with it already.
Book hunters stem from one of my absolute favourite books ever 'Stadt der träumenden Bücher' (City of dreaming books) by Walter Moers. They hunt for valuable books in the catacombs of Buchhaim and are known for being brutal and slaughtering even each other for the sake of getting more rare books and therefor more money.
They also each have an idividual armor made of whatever they can find down there (leather, animal shells, scrap metal, etc) with an equally unique and preferrably scary mask/helmet. I am already planning to work on that next.
As for my character, I created them myself and their name is Apollo da Betranna (an anagramm, because Moers does a lot of these in his books) and they aren't as ruthless as the other book hunters, following the path of Colophonius Regenschein and his approach to book hunting. (Tho they can get really fuckin gruesome if you provoke it)
There is still so much I wanna add here and to my character but I'll stop now.
Okay, one last thing.
Go read the Zamonien books, they are frickin amazing and deserve more love! Come to this wonderfully weird continent and join us!

Bookhunter Helmet W.I.P.
Man I regret the idea of makin it look like Homunkoloss xD its so much work

that sounds so good, I wish I could read a translation (TT) thank you for the amazing summary, I have to write my thoughts on it because this is the first time I see this much of the plot explained.
- it seems like hilde has actual trauma from the events of Codb which.. valid. It makes sense after the whole shitshow he experienced in the catacombs and at the end of the book (rip homuncolossus, you would've loved ao3). he needs therapy. I don't even think they have therapy in zamonia but they should definitely invent it, cause oh boy...
- and yeah. our dino being the ONLY one who didn't get seasick on that boat? press x to doubt. I smell bullshit my guy.
- 1 and a half hours of explaining all the cool stuff he saw in the museum? very moers thing to do. atp i would be kind of suspicious that someone else wrote it if this kind of thing wasn't there haha
-so the Quaquappa is kind of like a parallel to the shadow kings story and Hildegunst is automatically feeling for it cause it reminds him of him? ಥ‿ಥ ouch. I may or may not be crying. it's actually really sad to see just how affected he is by Homuncolossus' death (for the context I haven't yet read the labyrinth of dreaming books so I didn't have the chance to see it aside from a couple of people mentioning here that he is VERY affected)
-also I love the Quaquappa. I've never heard of it until this day but I love the Quaquappa.
i feel like millions of English-speaking contemporary romance writers struggle with fleshing out strong and convincing romantic relationships in their works while the craziest, most serious and reckless magnetic 'love-and-affection' magic was accidentally assigned to a couple of barely humanoid creatures in a whimsical fantasy/dark fairy tale book written by a reclusive German author
