Chris Rock has already stated he is not pressing charges. The slap didn’t even seem to connect, and if so, not severely.
You have some who are calling for him to be in prison over this 2-3 second non-lethal, noninjurious slap??? (Hayden Panitierre just had a brawl over the weekend and she nor her boyfriend are in prison nor were there demands for them to be so.) Will Smith, having never been convicted of any crime or never had any criminal history, should be in prison over a tiff?
Let me remind you Roman Polanski and Woody Allen have won Oscars in recent years.
The only criticism I have for Will is that he should have waited for them to be in private and not on camera.
I have 0 issue with a man defending his wife, especially when she is a black woman. Too many ppl are excusing and accepting of verbal harassment and abuse of black women, so much so that it is the norm. It’s not even recognized when it’s happening because people have accepted it as appropriate and okay. It’s not. Never has been and never will be.

Honestly, I support Will Smith smacking the shit out of Chris Rock for making fun of Jada’s baldness. Aside the fact that it’s a result of a medical condition, and therefore in extremely poor taste, it’s beyond time to stop making jokes about women’s bodies, period.
And at a public event like this, you’re expected to just sit there and laugh quietly so you appear to be in on the joke and cool and not taking yourself too seriously. Because god forbid a woman demand to be treated with respect.
And Chris’s attempt to defend himself by making it to be a harmless little joke that it would be ridiculous to be bothered by… fuck him. Don’t make digs or jokes or mean-spirited comments about women’s bodies. It’s not okay, and we’re justified when we get upset about it, and trying to play it off as no big deal is a bullshit power move men use to keep us down.
