☤ | okay so keeping hair dry was a thing, couldn’t be chlorine covered &ON CALL, a good surgeon is ready, prepared, on tip toes - even if said toes were taking a quick dip in the reflected blue. that couldn’t hurt & there was only so much restraint an internal mermaid could manage before gasp - ing for liquid in the overwhelming oxygen of life. pause, glance, lock. - a silent sort of smile, hello. look away, oh okay a mirroring type of maneuver but maybe she looks back up.

it’s late on a tuesday night and she’s found herself poolside at an indoor community pool. she’s already had a ‘talk’ with the security guard, convinced him it wouldn’t be necessary to come check in on the pool regardless of what he might hear. it’s not after hours just yet and there are still one or two swimmers finishing up but she aims to stay LATE and enjoy the peace and quiet she so rarely gets anywhere else. carlisle’s at the hospital tonight, and edward and alice have gone off to hunt but that still leaves esme, rosalie, and emmett at the house. she loves her family, she does–without them she’d probably be dead–but she just needs time to herself every so often. as she pulls herself out of the water and rings her long hair out with a towel she glances up to see a woman who looks vaguely familiar; but try as she might she’s unable to place her. regardless, she’s beautiful. with hair nearly raven-colored and a pair of icy blue eyes she’s certainly easy to look at. though she refuses to stare for long. the less attention that’s drawn to her, the better. instead she offers the woman a quick smile and she fixes her golden-eyed gaze elsewhere.
☤ | water trails along slight & invisible imperfections of alabaster fair skin as the woman walks, one foot,then the other in a slow & steady motion akin to walking on air -- something almost not quite human ( goddess like ) what a positively beautiful woman stomach twist,drawl hitting & settling in ears. oh thats so CUTE. “ I ----- “ ( words, words are what you need ) “ ----- i um .. i think i would have remembered. “
an airy (if not slightly nervous) lightness pervades the area around her as she notices the woman taking a glance at her as well. there’s a WARMTH within her that makes her feel almost human–or at least what she thinks she remembers humanity feeling like. the woman’s gaze shifts away but jess can still feel her there and she can’t help but look toward her again as if to make sure she isn’t imagining it, that this presence hasn’t left her. the point of her outing had been to seek out solitude but this stranger, who still seemed somewhat familiar, could sit there all night and jessamine wouldn’t mind. she gave off a very comfortable and, despite the nervousness, calming atmosphere. it was decided then and there that she needed to know her. gathering up her own nerves, so as not to accidentally shift her mood to panic, she ties her towel at her hip and GLIDES toward her–graceful, despite her height. and despite her calm demeanor she was whispering over and over in her head, this is a bad idea.

☤ | happening to be standing by, stopping in, as a doctor should - keeping track of their patients in the late evening hours. & this surely applied more to those basically stolen from another attending’s care. oops. “ only a few hours ------ hows your head? “

She doesn’t remember fainting—doesn’t remember, but it must have happened. Her head feels clouded, foggy; despite lying flat on her back, the room is still spinning once her vision begins to blur back into focus. A hospital room, all muted greys and whites… and she isn’t alone.

Another blink, vision clearing little by little. That dull throb is still present behind her eyes; not a good sign. “I’m… not sure yet. I need to—” Trying to sit up does her no favors. “—I need to make a phone call, I… have somewhere to be.”

But her mind goes one way, body the other and for whatever reason, Fiona doesn’t put up any physical resistance to that gentle touch, sinking back down onto the bed. Not too fast—aggravates the headache. It’s bad. She won’t admit it, but it’s one of the worst she’s had in a good long while.
“—You can’t keep me here. I got… a little dizzy, I fainted. It happens. This is a hospital, you’ve seen worse. I need to go as soon as I can, I have… I need to go.”

Maybe it’s a lie, maybe it’s the truth. Either way, she means it.
“I need to be here when she wakes up—I don’t have anywhere else to go.”
Hazel eyes flick up, finally, toward the source of this persistence. “You don’t have to check on me, Doctor—” You ought to know her name by now. “I can take care of myself.”
