【 about : vil in book 6 】
hello. i tried to include this on my book 6 thoughts post, but it got wwwayyy too long bc this user likes vil schoenheit all too much hence the separate post (aka trau is secretly a closeted vil lover)
[ warning !! spoilers for 6-5 till 6-8 under the cut ! ]
the fact that vil apologized for betraying their trust makes me respect him n love him more as a character ^^ he acknowledged the fact that he made a huge and detrimental mistake, and he sincerely apologized for it in order to try making amends. also he doesn't try to downplay the situation either, the way he's holding himself accountable for hurting them and for the overblot...it makes him such a good person in general ? (considering the fact that out of all the people who overblotted, he was the only one who offered such a genuine and upfront apology about where his actions have led)
and the way he takes responsibility for leading them astray as a leader, and how he talks about how neige's group also worked hard in their own way,,,,ofc it takes a lot of hard work and practice. vil probably knows it best, having all his hard work being dismissed to just him being talented or a pretty face, despite the fact that he practiced so hard to make his acting look effortless.
(also jamil tryna reassure vil it was okay bc neige was more popular....i bet he was alluding to the fact that when he was younger n joined competitions, kalim would win over him. like he dulled down his skills, but also kalim was 10x more popular than him, and he was the priority, so i can see slight neige-vil parallels in jamil-kalim's past...)
also i agree 100% with what vil said. if they had known what neige's past was like, they wouldn't have been able to perform with a good conscience. they would've pitied and sympathized with neige and maybe performed half-heartedly, bc their own self-serving motivations for the money were quite different to neige's altruistic one. but also, even without knowing his past, they already had preconceived judgements about neige anyway. they thought he was naturally talented, and they thought that he was effortlessly popular, etc. so it really wouldn't have done them any bad or good if they had known in the first place. humans are just like that, we judge based on what we know, and our emotions get affected by our quick judgements, so it's natural for vil to know exactly what they're feeling abt neige.
also rook n vil's friendship is so underrated ? ik they're a popular ship, but the way they understand each other, and can read each other's thoughts make me wonder why and how vil was chosen as dormleader and rook was chosen as vice dormleader,,,, (vil did say that rook immediately complimented him on his performance when they first met but i need more TEA !!)
we need more people to appreciate this side of vil n write it in their stories. vil's such a complex character, and too...kind (imo) to be squished into the one-dimensional diva stereotype.

so you know that one scene in Book 6 (spoilers, everyone) where the overblot victims get put into a simulation that creates a scenario where their most trusted companions turn against them? (this is like Chapter 30 and Chapter 33, i think)
that, but instead of just their most trusted companions, its their entire dorm. like, maybe idia decides to push them to their limits and creates room for a whole "game", without realizing that their memories have turned the opponents of this game into their dorm members.
and like. i imagine in this one that the simulated versions of their dorm members aren't immediately antagonistic, so the overblotters (save for Leona and Jamil) don't realize it until each and every one of them tries to strike them down. and unlike their real-world counterparts, these ones don't seem to have a limit on the amount of magic they can use.
ace and deuce trying to go at riddle with everything they got, in a twisted parody of their first duel. cater just letting it happen because "that's what I would've done, too, Rids".
jade and floyd sabotaging azul at every opportunity until it eventually culminates in jade dueling azul for the housewarden seat, because he's not "interesting" anymore.
kalim and ruggie teaming up to attack jamil and leona in the garden... or maybe kalim helping ruggie call up child protection services on leona's ass lol.
epel finally, finally (or at least in Vil's view) getting his revenge for everything he went through by poisoning a bottle of apple juice and giving it to vil. and when vil is at his weakest that's one rook takes the shot.
just like... there was so much potential here, and i get why they couldn't use it, but still. i'm a little upsetti-spaghetti.

pls dont treat rook like he can't make decisions for himself because he can. he easily could've pursued beauty still in savanaclaw, but he didn't want to because he wanted to see vil be even more beautiful with his help
its his choice to do it, and that means if he didn't like it he could've also just transferred back out and nothing vil would've said would convinced him otherwise
