KINGER WITH A GUN

i thought too hard about insect motifs got a little silly and made... a lot lmao these versions of the characters are from @sm-baby's amazing digital carnival au!! full images and rambling about insect choices are gonna get stuck under the cut... it'll be a bit long and i will be putting photos of real bugs down there so be mindful

pomni: "butterfly"

inspirational species are black swallowtails mostly for the shape, and malay red harlequins mostly for the pattern

carnival pomni's actually the one that kickstarted this whole set... i drew her hat in a way that reminded me of butterflies, went "wait...", then i fully leaned into it :)

jax: "centipede"

there was no specific species for jax. without being able to use color, they were too similar to pick any out... i have included a giant centipede just for reference though since it was mainly larger centipedes i used for inspiration

anddd there's a little bonus sketch for how pre-sentience jax might've looked with a centipede outfit... he gets a bug scarf and some goggles!

ragatha: "ladybug"

inspirational species was the twice-stabbed ladybug chosen because the inverted color scheme looked the best out of all the ones i tried, and also because it's a metal name and we know ragatha's good with a knife... stabby stab... i did add more than two spots to the dress though, it just looks cooler lol

gangle: "spider"

inspiration was the spinybacked orb weaver which i was absolutely ecstatic to find because come on that is the perfect spider for gangle like look at it!! it looks like her mask, it's got red, it's got gold on the limbs, literally twinning

zooble: "mantis"

inspiration was the spiny flower mantis which, like with gangle, i feel is pretty much perfect for zooble... they come in many colors (including pink), have abstract patterns, and it gave me the excuse to cover zooble in spikes :D fun

and no kaufmo because i'm lazy and he's dead (sorry kaufmo fans but am i wrong), and the rest don't have bug names that i know of?

i still want to draw the carnival characters in their regular looks sometime, i just got really really inspired by the idea of secret skins and bug-themed outfits and went a liiittle haywire :P

anyways if you read all that you're a real one and you've got too much time on your hands... if you didn't, i understand, i get wordy, sorry :'D okay i think that's all byeee

I love his character so much, cause I struggle every day because of this condition and just seeing it makes me sob

Quick TADC ramble!!!!!

This ONE scene always has me worried for what Jax has in store for his character, because of this ONE shot that doesn't even last 5 SECONDS!!!!

Jax, in this split second, actually cracks from his usual character of "I'm a dick and I'm not afraid of you or anything you could throw at me". Instead showing GENUINE worry when Kaufmo is seemingly nearby. Which could mean many, MANY things!!!!

Like, how many abstractions has he been around for? Who taught him how to be this calm, or did he learn that himself? Does he KNOW how much it hurts to glitch after being attacked by an abstracted being, how many times could this have happened to him?

And it gets even MORE WORRISOME (for me at least) when he snaps RIGHT back into character. Like nothing happened and he's still subtly trying to get them AWAY from Kaufmo.

I don't want to go all Matpat film theory but it makes me theorize a LOT about just how different Jax may have been before living in the digital circus for a long time. Was he just as bad? Better or worse???

Kinger’s fascination with an “insect collection” is just based on him being a game developer in the real world (Thank you Matpat for that one)

Jax knows a surprising amount about bugs 

Pomni almost got gaslit into believing her name was “Pom-Pom”

^ it was Jax's fault, he thought it was super funny

Ragatha occasionally has the same issue as Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas, albeit with less stitching back together!!!!

Jax has asked for alcohol many times, Caine has only fallen for getting him some four or so times.

Ragatha occasionally lightly punches Jax to get him to shut up (Usually in the side, arms, or stomach)

^ Getting punched in the gut usually ends up winding Jax quite a bit 

Kinger has had his hands replaced upwards of 100 times in his years in the digital circus!!!! (Usually things like the Zooble situation cause him to fully lose his hands)

Caine loves a good maze!!!!!!

Zooble, much like Jax, has asked for weed, but because there aren't as many fun names for it, it hasn't worked as well as Jax tricking Caine for alcohol

Pomni is a fidgeter, usually seen squeezing onto her own clothing and shifting on her feet

Pomni used to be very regular to swearing before the circus

Caine ended up being lectured by Pomni that it's not normal to watch people sleep, he thought it was something humans were used to because of what parents and mothers do for babies

Gangle owns multiple body pillows, she had to explain she doesn't own them for any other reason than to have something to properly hug onto

^ Jax was the one that teased her into explaining it

^ Gangle ended up crying from embarrassment

^ Aaaand Ragatha ended up steppin in to help first

Jax ended up flipping off the camera one time during the weekly mandated theme song, and since Caine didn't have a built in censor-sensor for that, he got away with it the one time.

Caine sometimes has to go through major bug patches, and starts speaking gibberish during the update....

Pomni, despite having bells on her costume, is amazing at stealth

Jax plays the most annoying peacemaker possible, but does a good job at it

Kinger often makes references to pop culture items and series, but nobody gets the point, mostly because nobody can remember quite where any of it comes from (And neither does he)

^ Pomni has gotten close to remembering

^ So has Zooble

Kinger is no stranger to fun wordplay!!

Bubble is the ai with the least amount of idle animations and the least coding going into his dialogue.

Pomni is an amazing singer, despite her anxious cadence when she talks plainly.

^ She also has a great voice to soothe people with when she isn't on the verge of a breakdown
