Parts of a painting, acrylic paint, november 2016 ~
Il sent ses paupières s’alourdir, la caresse de la main sur son front, la peau fraîche. Il entend le murmure de la voix, le bruit léger de l’averse derrière les fenêtres et le carillon sur la terrasse. Son cœur se serre, sa respiration s’apaise et il s’endort, sans même s’en rendre compte. Le froid glacial le réveille quelques heures plus tard. Toutes les fenêtres sont ouvertes, un vent violent fait rentrer des giboulées dans la chambre. Il l’appelle, en vain, elle ne vient pas. Le ciel s’est assombri, dehors, la lumière faiblit dans la pièce. Il tremble tellement qu’il ne peut tendre le bras pour allumer sa lampe de chevet. Il ne le sait pas encore, mais le courant est coupé. Il demeure transi entre les draps froissés, ses longues jambes repliées contre son torse, son visage blême tourné vers la baie vitrée où se soulèvent les rideaux en tulle. Il regarde les sapins noirs qui forment un mur devant l’horizon, et la neige compact qui recouvre la plaine. Il est cinq heures du soir quand il sort enfin de sa torpeur, mais le ciel est aussi sombre qu’au plus profond de la nuit.

I really like this old barn composition, and I had fun painting it with some paint I had left from a previous painting and that I didn’t want to waste. No more than 45 minutes worked on this sketch.
