yes i know i said i might be writing that otome thing but for now here are cafe au headcanons

it turned out a lot longer than i expected ngl

isagi

despite the fact he’s been working here for the past few months, he’s only trusted with taking orders… the only reason he’s still here is since he’s so tenacious

permanently traumatised from serving after he spilled someone’s entire order all over them, drinks and pastry. 

he and bachira were once left in the kitchen for 10 minutes… they burned literal water and caused the smoke alarm to go off. isagi panicked so much that he forgot to turn the stove off and use the fire blankets and fire extinguishers literally right next to the stove, and instead called the fire brigade. they came only to find a foggy kitchen, a smoking pot, and two men - one of which was standing dangerously close to the flames and another screaming for his mother. 

needless to say, they’re off limits from the kitchen.

bachira 

hopeless. he got the job purely bc he’s family friends with the owner and now they can’t fire him bc if they did they’d look bad.

all the kids love him and he loves them back - like they share that playful energy. they all swarm to him whenever he’s there. because of this, there is a mass array of 5 star reviews from grateful parents

will steal food from the glass display cabinet whenever he’s hungry. always gets caught by barou but gets away with it

he has godly taste in designs. like the entire store has been bachira certified™

his mother constantly visits the store for the family support!! at least 5 people have assumed they’re siblings LMAO

constantly knocks over tables, chairs, glassware, and crockery. he’s spent the most money on repairs…

kunigami

one of the rare functioning men around. all rounder - can do cashier (without giving wrong change cough bachira cough), can clean (without causing more mess in the process cough bachira cough), and do ordering (without messing up the orders cough bachira cough)

he’s actually become an impromptu tutor to all the desperately struggling high school students. since he understands their pain he can explain the concepts far better than any of the teachers do. the students always come back with drastically higher grades which makes him so happy

always gets heavily tipped for how nice he is but he feels so guilty about it that he splits the tips evenly across all the working employees that day.

carries all the heavy delivery boxes, builds the new furniture, and installs all the new appliances since the only other person who is trusted to do it is barou and he’s too busy keeping everyone else in rein

only here for the money. does the bare minimum and will try to trick others into doing the work he’s supposed to, when in reality he’s been slacking off the entire shift playing games on his phone. 

messes up a lot of the orders since he mishears the most important parts but for some reason he can remember all the specific small details

surprisingly, he’s actually really good at making drinks. like WOW THIS IS THE BEST COFFEE IVE HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE??? kind of good but he thinks he’s mediocre

there’s a 1 free drink per 3 hour rule for workers in place but nagi is undeterred and just constantly makes heavily caffeinated drinks for himself since he stays up until some ungodly time every day

severely underpaid worker who has to put up with all the clownery of the young children around him. on his last straw.

one of the only few allowed inside the kitchen after the various fiascos. has a special pot no one except him is allowed to use. if someone as so much touches it they will get a harsh verbal berating

has to drink at least 3 iced americanos to stay alive every single day since he always gets energy drained from being around the louder workers

it’s regulation to serve in the order they ordered but barou makes sure nice people always get their order faster. once, an extremely rude customer came up and started incoherently screaming at him… so he decided to glare back which absolutely scared the person out of the store.

he wore a maid dress once and went viral EVERYWHERE sales were boosted far up for a good month or so

chigiri 

pulls in all the local high school students that pass by. he’s gaining notoriety throughout the city for his distinctive long auburn locks that bring envy to all. 

every single day, at least 5 people ask him for his hair routine and he’s so fed up with it that he stores literal print-outs in his apron pockets. he has to restock every break since they’re that popular. at one point he signed one without a second thought - the next thing he saw that morning was a crowd of people gathered outside the cafe and that very signed print on sale for an obscene price

whenever he’s serving, chigiri always eavesdrops on customers… he can recognise countless names from how much the high school gossipers talk

“oh so you’re that one dude who bought his dog to school”

“yeah i remember you. you cheated on that test and got caught, if i remember correctly”

“wait you sound familiar, by any chance did you fall down the stairwell a week ago?”

trying to figure out a way to make a fortune out of every single thing. he sees billionaire potential everywhere.

the only successful financial endeavour he has made was creating an insta acc for the cafe. it has blown up despite being so inactive that they’ve even been kicked out and need a verification code. the problem is that reo’s forgotten which phone number he used and he now has to pay some hacker to let him back in LOL

every shift he brings in a massive plate of fancy sweets made by his chef at home and resells them for a decent price. he will give any regulars a free treat bc according to him “it encourages them to come back”… it actually works

aiku - flirts with everyone who walks past the literal cafe door. age, gender, appearance - it all doesn’t matter. as long as you are an alive human being he will flirt with you. this took a dark turn when his mother walked in… she excused both herself and aiku before scolding him in the bathroom. everyone in the cafe heard him get lectured

kaiser - he basically lives in the kitchen since he can’t stop boasting to the poor customers. pretty good at making drinks but he makes a godly Franzbrötchen. he learned how to make it from his mother when he was very young and ever since he’s just been gifted at the art. however, he is absolutely terrible at any other type of pastry… an eye for an eye ig

ness - can do basically anything. he performs magic tricks for fun but gets paid by the watching patrons. all the kids find his :> grin super cool and he’s been asked to smile at them multiple times. ness is the one who reality checks everyone whenever they’re getting close to any limits, and this has saved the cafe’s reputation on many occasions

rin - gets absolutely babied by all the local grandmas around. they all tip him well and always bring him a surprise every time they come in, and sae’s always jealous of it. he’s cold but isn’t willing to admit he has a soft spot for said grandmas and the quiet kids who patiently trail along with their parents. after double checking allergies, rin will tuck in an extra snack for them every time. he will derail the conversation when confronted

sae - disses everyone who doesn’t order a decaf soy milk caramel latte with whipped cream, no caramel, no sugar and a pump of strawberry syrup under his breath, but a third of the time the customers still hear. ness has to come over and do damage control so they’ll forget about it. bc of this, he’s been banned from taking orders. he’ll also give less change to people he doesn’t like… sae that isn’t how it works

yukimiya - at least 2 photographers/scouters will show up to the cafe every day, order a few drinks and ask him to model. yuki shoots them down every single time but he just can’t figure out why they can’t catch a hint. he also gets confessed to so much that he’s running out of polite sincere ways to reject them. if he as so much says something vaguely blunt he’ll feel bad about it the rest of the day

shidou ryusei would definitely be very awkward with his interactions. whenever he sees you around, he walks up to you, throws an arm around your shoulders and makes some comment about your body. unfortunately, he wouldn't seem to pick up hints about that being weird behavior that you would drop. if he actually noticed you don't like his behavior, he will shy away from you, thinking there's no way you would go out with him now. in the end, if you end up enjoying him more for his genuinity, he will be over the moon and immediately ask to kiss you.

michael kaiser will always, and i mean always, flirt with you. but it's not in a regular way, he will be mostly bragging about his own accomplishments and how he did so great in the trainings – you obviously know, since you've been managing the team for a couple of years now. but, something that would really surprise you, he would also compliment your achievements but in a much softer way. plus, he adores to randomly start to play with your hair or clothing parts – loves to pull you close to him by the loops of your jeans. hopes you will accept to date him so you two will be "the hottest couple alive".

alexis ness is a flustered mess. he isn't flustered in the "blush and stuttering" way, actually he gets so much colder and straightforward whenever you enter in the room. don't get me wrong, ness is a major worshipper for you, but he cannot handle how gorgeous and simply beautiful you are in his eyes. whenever you confront him about it, you notice how nervous he gets, fiddles with his fingers and looks at nowhere but you – it makes your job at managing his career much harder. in the end, he randomly walks up to you and blurts out all good adjectives he relates to you with his little triangle smile on his lips and a soft blush on his cheeks.

arm intertwined with his, you curiously point out a pair of pale white birds that seem to blend in with the fluffy ivory clouds.

yukimiya hums in agreement, a faint smile etched on his strikingly handsome features. a soft zephyr dances in the air, ruffling his chestnut beret and making both your coats slightly flutter.

you’ve always liked these moments with him - even if it’s silently walking along the promenade in tandem, or sharing a mellow coffee at a tiny rural cafe, they all seem to have an underlying vigour.

maybe it’s just because you’re with him.

“hey! hey, you two!”

a loud but not impolite call snaps you from your thoughts, and both you and yuki turn to face the stranger clutching a camera adorning his neck.

“do you two mind if i take some photos? i’m trying to have a photoshoot capturing strong emotions.”

“strong emotions?” you question, glancing nervously at yuki, who reassuringly smiles at you.

“well, love is a strong emotion, is it not?” yuki helpfully supplies. “sure. we don’t mind at all, take as many as you need.”

“great! just pretend i’m not here, and just enjoy the moment.”

for a few minutes, you’re consciously aware of the camera lens pointing at you, but you soon forget it as you bask in the comfort of yuki’s presence.

it feels like no time before the photographer motions that he’s done, and thanks you two for your contribution.

“i really appreciate this. your names?”

“ah, kenyu yukimiya, and y/n yukimiya.”

your mouth falls open in shock at his words - you’re only dating - but the photographer simply laughs.

raichi jingo is oddly soft and calm next to you. instead of being his crazy, feral self, he would always get soft and gentle around you. even if one of his team mates made him insanely mad, he would hold himself back if you're around. the way he compliments your beauty is sweet. instead of directly complimenting things, he compliments things that you choose to do – compliments the lipstick/lip balm you decide to wear, the makeup, the earrings, rings, etc. smile at him and he simply melts to the ground, internally, of course.

nagi seishiro doesn't understand why the other people on his team think you're "hot". it's not that he doesn't think you're pretty, he does; he just thinks there is more to you than your beauty. whenever you care for him, letting him skip a little of training to play games on his phone or slipping a snack for him - even if he was supposed to eat healthily -, his heart skips a beat on his chest. he likes your beauty, but he loves so much more how gorgeous you are on the inside.

reo mikage can't get enough of you. he had his share of fangirls and crazy women running after him on his career, but he never thought he would be a fanboy one day. for who? you. reo ends up wanting to take pictures with you all the time, not to mention every time the weekend approaches, he gives you a bouquet of flowers to "thank you for passing through that week" with him. he doesn't try to hide he is in love with you; he hopes that one day you will feel comfortable enough to go out with him.

kunigami rensuke is a sweetheart about his crush towards you. this teddy bear of a man shyly compliments you every morning and stutters over his own words. if you giggle, the blush on his ears spread to his entire face and neck. always buys tiny things that reminds him of you; while giving them to you, he doesn't look in your face, but you still know the feelings behind it are genuine. kiss him on the cheek and he might actually have to kneel or he would fall - he says his shoe was untied.

curse those idiots - at the most pivotal moment when he’s standing in front of you, his silly friends are replaying in his head, broadly grinning and dancing around like they’re 8 again.

“is there anything you’d like?” you ask amidst the cacophony in his mind, and karasu is at a loss of words.

his sentence that he’d so meticulously practiced in front of the mirror slips out of memory - leaving him to only stutter out a rushed confession. “i, uh, y’know, kinda, mayhaps like you?”

slightly blinking in confusion, you open your mouth, violently accelerating karasu’s heartbeat. “sorry about that, i didn’t quite catch what you said.”

karasu is genuinely considering either to run away, or to dig a hole in the dirt and bury himself. maybe both.

“but as luck has it,” you continue, trying not to smile at the strained expression on karasu’s face, “i’d like to go out with you. because i kinda mayhaps like you too.”

he can only awkwardly nod, but that’s sufficient enough for you.

and as you two make your way back to your anticipating friends, karasu decides that maybe it wasn’t so bad that he forgot everything.

of course, there was a few minor difficulties, but he wouldn’t have had it any other way.

“AND WHY DO I HAVE TO SHARE A ROOM WITH HIM FOR THE NIGHT?!”

you exclaimed in annoyance after you just learned from your best friend, otoya, that you have to share a room with the one and only karasu tabito, otoya’s so-called 'homie'. and as you grit your teeth and clench your fist, your best friend just stands before you and looked at you with an amiable smile plastered on his face, so proud of what he just did which makes you want to punch him in the guts.

“what’s the matter? it’s just for tonight,” otoya asked as he raised one of his arms and wrapped it around yukki’s shoulders, who was just standing right beside him. “plus, my budget is only good for two rooms. i'll go share a room with yukki, while you and karasu share this one,” your best friend added as he pointed at the door next to him with one of his hands before making a peace sign with the other hand.

“that's bullshit! and you’re so stingy!” you cursed at your best friend. “and you, yukki! why not make me your roommate instead? i'm way better of a roommate than that best friend of mine,” you added as you turned your head to yukki while pointing a finger at him.

“i mean, sure–” yukki was about to agree when otoya suddenly put a hand into his mouth, cutting him off. your best friend then started whispering something to yukki. you can’t understand what he’s whispering, all you know is that it made yukki’s eyes wider and eyebrows raised.

“hey! why did you stop? you were just about to agree–”

“ah never mind what i was about to say. i’m already sleepy and my travel bags are already in the room otoya and i will share, so i have to decline your offer, i’m sorry,” yukki cut you off with a sheepish smile on his face.

“see? you have no choice. anyways, here are the keys. karasu is already inside the room, so good night to the two of you,” your best friend nonchalantly said before he and yukki turned their backs on you and started walking toward their shared room.

annoyance continued to wash over you as you watched the two stroll their merry way to their shared room. did yukki just hop into one of your best friend's antics? seriously? you really thought yukki was better than that, never expecting him to engage in such antics.

“right, it would just be for this night. i’ll prove to that leaf-head best friend of mine that i’m not gonna waver in one of his antics,” you murmured to yourself as you let out a sigh.

you started to carry your travel bag before turning the room’s doorknob, only to find it locked.

“ew, is that crow serious? did he literally just lock the door from me?” you grumbled as you flop down your travel bags into the floor to try and unlock the door. 

you opened the door as soon as you finally unlocked it, not expecting what you were about to see – a freshly showered karasu with only a towel covering his lower body. 

“HEY, WHAT THE HELL! WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY ROOM?!” karasu exclaimed with a red face as he held onto his towel tighter. 

“HOLY SHIT, I’M SORRY!” you exclaimed as you shut your eyes and leave the room without any hesitations, shutting the door behind you. you immediately sat on the hallway floor with your back resting on the door. your face burning hot as you process what you just walked in on.

the moment you finally cooled down, you immediately shuffled through your fanny pack to get your phone to contact otoya.

before you can even block otoya, the door behind you suddenly swung open and it almost made you lose your balance.

“hey!” you exclaimed as you glared at karasu.

“what are you doing right down there? get up and come inside,” karasu said as he offered his hand to help you stand up which you hesitantly accepted. 

other than that, you were surprised to see how calm he is after what had just happened earlier. he even helped you bring your stuff inside the room.

“yukki had just told me recently that otoya deliberately booked this room for the both of us. i really thought this room was just for me,” karasu said as both of you walked into the room. 

you were about to curse your best friend again for this antic of his until your eyes finally saw the whole room.

“why is there only one bed?!” you exclaimed as you alternately looked at karasu and the bed. “and there’s not even a sofa?!” you added as you glared at karasu. 

“why are you glaring at me like that? it’s not like i was the one who booked the rooms,” karasu laughed at the way you look as he flopped your travel bag on the floor. “and if you don’t want to share this room, i will accompany you to book one for yourself. i was the first one who got in this room anyway,” karasu added.

oof. the main reason you even joined this trip is that otoya had told you that it’ll be his treat. now, you really regret not bringing enough money for this trip.

“ah, never mind everything. it is what it is, so i’ll just take a bath and accept the situation,” you said as you let out a defeated sigh before opening your bags to get some clothes that you can change into.

cold water trickles down on you as you were trying to forget the embarrassment of walking in on karasu. also the fact that the two of you will now have to share not just the room, but also the bed for the night.

“that stupid crow. how can he be so calm while in this situation?!” you muttered to yourself as you showered, annoyed. “and eita.. i’ll literally ambush that ninja at their doorstep tomorrow,” you added.

your thoughts continued as you were washing, until all of a sudden, you remembered the way karasu look when you suddenly walked in on him. the fact that you saw him with his hair down for the first time that is wet from showering.. those mesmerizing hooded eyes of his.. water droplets trickling down his toned body–

slap

“OH MY GOD, Y/N! STOP WITH THOSE INTRUSIVE THOUGHTS!” your mind screamed at you as you slap yourself while the cold water still trickles down on you. the slap was actually too strong to the point that even karasu heard it from outside the bathroom.

knock knock

“hey, y/n, you good there?” karasu asked, sounding a bit worried.

“yeah yeah! I’m good! the soap just fell on the floor, haha!” you nervously lied. 

“oh my god, what just happened to me back there! stupid, stupid intrusive thoughts,” you scolded yourself. 

you continued to take a cold shower while trying to think of something else. but no matter what you try to think about, your thoughts are always somewhat connected to karasu. 

“annoying,” you thought. you continued to shower until you suddenly remembered something that had happened just a few months ago.

“hiori, look at this photo eita just sent in the group chat! karasu looks so silly in the photo,” you laughed as you showed your screen to hiori, one of your closest friends, as the two of you were hanging out at a café. 

“y’know, i just realized something.. you always have something to say on everything that karasu does, and i noticed you only behave like that towards him. do you like him perhaps?” hiori suddenly asked you.

“what?! what kind of claim is that? don’t make me laugh, i will never like a guy like him!” you retorted, almost spitting the drink that you were drinking because of the sudden claim. “plus, he always finds a way to tease me, and he does it with his stupid shit-eating grin! it’s not in any way harmful, it’s just annoying,” you added before taking a sip of your drink. 

“but it looks like you're just suppressing your feelings for–”

“wait! i was actually waiting for an important message, maybe this is it,” you suddenly cut hiori off.

you opened your phone, expecting to see the important message you were waiting for, only to see that it was actually a notification of karasu sending a meme to you.

“this crow.. he just sent me a thread of silly memes all of a sudden!” you huffed as you turned off your phone before looking at hiori. 

“see? another comment about him. and as i was saying, it looks like you’re just in denial, ‘cause you weren’t really like that the first months you knew each other. and additionally, the two of you were already fairly close at the time.”

“...”

“was my judgment right?” hiori asked.

“you’re so funny, haha! ANYWAY, have a taste at this drink that i bought, it’s really good–”

“y/n, you do know that you’re blushing, right?”

“NO, I AM NOT.”

“why do i even have to remember that memory while i’m in this one-bed trope situation?” you muttered to yourself as you were now trying to put some clothes on.

all this time you are hyperaware of your feelings for karasu, you’re just denying it, hoping it would pass. it’s just that unfortunately for you, your feelings for him didn’t lessen even for just a bit. 

“denying will probably just lead me to nowhere, might as well accept it and be discreet about it,” you muttered to yourself before letting out a defeated sigh.

“wow, i can’t sleep at all,” you thought to yourself before closing your eyes to try and count some sheep, hoping it’ll help you fall asleep. karasu is just laying right beside you with his back facing you. you thought that maybe he had already fallen asleep. "good for him, i guess," you added as you tuck yourself more under the only blanket the room has.

becoming restless due to the inability to sleep, your body shuffled under the blanket, making one of your feet poke out from under it. you suddenly flinched when your foot bumped into karasu’s feet. “holy shit, your feet are freezing!”

karasu immediately turned his head to your side and looked at you. “what did you expect? it’s still winter season!”

“hey, you were the one who said you don’t need it!” you retorted with a true statement. earlier, after you just got out of the shower, he did say he didn’t need it even though you were insistent that the two of you should share it. “here, let’s share it,” you offered. the blanket isn’t big, but it’s not that small either. and by the size of it, you estimated that both you and karasu have to come closer to each other to be able to share it properly.

hesitating for a bit, karasu's whole body turned to face yours. he started inching closer to you as he took the piece of the blanket in your hand. you can feel heat creeping up your face as he inches closer to you. even though the lights were off, the moonlight that is passing through the windows is already enough for you to see each other. scared that he might notice your blush, you immediately turned your back to him the moment the two of you were finally wrapped together by the blanket’s warmth. 

your thoughts screamed at you for putting yourself into a much more awkward position. feeling a bit more restless than you already are, moments later, you quietly sat up on the bed. after finally doing so, you took a quick look at karasu only to realize that he already has fallen asleep. realizing that you’re the only one who’s left awake, you sighed to yourself and rest your head on the headboard as you closed your eyes.

“i still can’t believe i fell for you even though we banter a lot and you deliberately annoy me. but hey, i’d be lying if i say you’re not fun to hang around with, don’t look good, and have zero charisma,” you murmured to yourself before retaking a quick look at his sleeping face. your eyes trailed until it landed on the mole below his left eye. “wow, that mole really does make you hotter,” you added before closing your eyes.

“you think i’m hot?” you suddenly froze in your place when you heard that. hoping you were only dreaming, you slowly opened your eyes, only to realize that you weren’t dreaming.

“what the fuck, you're actually awake?!” you exclaimed frantically, feeling the heat creeping up on your face. 

“well, i can't sleep. what's the matter with that?” karasu laughed as he sat up on the bed. “so, you like me?” karasu asked with a smug look on his face.

“wait, wait, wait! did you heard everything??” you frantically said as your mind goes haywire. embarrassed, you closed you covered your face with your hands before murmuring, “and so what if i do?” 

you suddenly heard him laugh. is he seriously laughing at you right now? you darted your eyes back at him with an annoyed look. embarrassment finally getting overshadowed by annoyance.

“oh my god, karasu. i'm not playing with you right now,” you spat at him.

it made karasu’s face shift from a playful and teasing look to a serious one. “and i'm not playing either,” he said before he started to shift closer to you, face inching closer to yours that made you lean your back on the bed’s headboard. “y/n, just so you know, i’ve liked you for the longest time.”

you felt your cheeks start to heat up. you're sat up with your back on the headboard. one of karasu's hands sits beside you, while the other one sits on the headboard.

time started to get slow as you watched his face getting closer to yours. and before it even clicked in your mind, his lips are already on yours as he closed his eyes.

it didn't take too long until you started to kiss him back. you close your eyes as one of your hands started to crawl up his shoulders. he felt it and instinctively guided your hand toward his nape. you tug him closer as the two of you continued to kiss.

all your nervousness from earlier got easily washed away as karasu kisses you like he’s been wanting to do this for so long. it was slow but fervent. his lips were a bit chapped from the cold weather, but you don’t really mind at all. you already love the way he kisses you.

both of you were quite breathless from the kiss when you finally pulled yourselves from each other. karasu sat beside you with his back on the headboard, taking his time to catch his breath away as you do the same thing too.

you were pretty calm the whole time, even after the two of you kissed. after you finished catching some breath and cleared your mind, that's when you fully realized what just happened. "WAIT, DID YOU JUST KISSED ME??” you exclaimed, jolting up from the bed.

your eyes darted back at karasu, and you were greeted by his usual shit-eating grin that's plastered on his face. “yeah and you enjoyed it,” karasu said as he continued to look at you so smugly.

“YOU SHIT! HEY, YOU WERE THE ONE WHO KISSED ME FIRST! YOU WERE THE ONE WHO WANTED IT FIRST!” you yelled as you started hitting him lightly with a pillow on his face.

“ow! hey hey hey! stop!”

“don’t look so smug with what you just did!” you said as you keep hitting him lightly with a pillow, your face still red from what had happened in the past 5 minutes.

ring ring

you stopped hitting him with the pillow to pick up your phone. 

“who was that?” karasu asked.

“it’s not a who, it’s just my alarm. i usually wake up to study around this hour. i just forgot to turn it off before the trip.” you yawned, sleepiness is finally creeping up on you.

“wow, such a hard worker, aren't you?” karasu teased, making you dart your eyes back at him, which made him laugh. “right, i just remembered that tomorrow we’re gonna stop by an amusement park. so, wanna take otoya's car keys and ditch him and yukki so that we can wander on our own at the amusement park without them trying to leave us behind?” 

“that sounds fun, i’m in! i’ll take care of the car keys while you go distract the two tomorrow morning– wait, is this your way of asking me out on a date?”

“you bet i am. now you should probably sleep so we can flawlessly take otoya's car keys tomorrow,” karasu hummed before kissing your forehead to sleep.

walking with karasu involves constant bumping into each other’s bodies. it’s a habit you both developed before making it official that you both just can’t stop now. he lives to hear your small giggles and your attempts at a hard push whenever he teases you with one as well. he once bumped you too hard to where you almost stumbled into a lake you were walking by but his quick reflexes saved the day. had the biggest smirk on his face at the pose you two held, looking as if he had dipped you in one of those cheesy dances you see on TV.

“why did’ya leave me alone in bed?”

you looked at where the sound came from. looking at your kitchen’s entrance, you saw your husband, karasu, just leaning on the doorframe, yawning.

“good morning. it looks like you had a good sleep,” you hummed as you looked at the clock to see that it was already a quarter to 9am. your eyes then fell back on the chopping board before continuing to chop the ingredients for the breakfast that you are about to cook for the two of you. 

from your kitchen doorframe, karasu started to walk up to you lazily. he hugged you from behind and rested his head on your nape the moment he reached you. “you smell nice,” he hummed at your nape as he closed his eyes closed.

you chuckled at his comment as you continued to chop the ingredients. you were 100% fine that he was hugging you from behind as you prepared your breakfast, but it was not until he started to put more of his weight on you.

“hey! don’t try and put all your weight on me, i’m still chopping up some ingredients, y’know.”

“oh, sorry.. but can we just return to the bedroom instead? ‘m still very sleepy..” your husband said as he leaned his head over your shoulders to try and look at your face.

“you do know you can still go back to sleep considering that i’m still about to cook our breakfast. i’ll just call for you once i’m done,” you chuckled.

“you don’t get it. i want you to be right by my side.”

“haha, if you really want to be right at my side that bad then just sit on the chair across this aisle.” you pointed at the stool across the kitchen aisle. “we’ll get back to bed after we eat, ‘kay?” 

“but you aren’t the fastest cook, and i want the both of us to get back to bed asap,” he mumbled. “but you know what? fine,” he sighed as he kissed your nape before removing himself from your back to walk around the kitchen aisle.

time ticks as you continue to prepare your breakfast. you were just minding your own business while humming some songs, not noticing how your husband watches you with such a fond look while his head is sitting on his crossed arms on the table, just like in a napping position. 

“i love you so much,” karasu suddenly spoke. 

“of course you do. why would i marry you if you don’t even love me,” you laughed without batting an eye towards him.

“you look so pretty,” he hummed. “i could stare at you all day. can i just marry you again and again?”

both of you married just a month ago, but you dated each other for 4 years before that. you know well that he’s actually sappy towards you behind closed doors, but despite all the times that you spent with each other, this is actually the very first time that you’ve seen him this sappy. you aren’t complaining though, seeing him like this made your heart flutter, though it really did surprise you.

“woah, woah, you’re unusually sappy right now. did you eat something weird last night?” you were truly taken aback that you paused from what you were doing. 

“hey now, call it being overly sentimental and not sappy, ‘kay?" he raised his head and placed his chin under one of his palms, smirking as he looked at you with his half-lidded eyes. “hm, also, are you still chopping the ingredients?”

“uhm, yeah? heh.. i did struggle earlier so here we are,” you replied bashfully, trying to avoid his gaze.

karasu is getting impatient. he was indeed hungry earlier, but not anymore. all he wants now is to cuddle with you on the bed. he stood up from the stool before walking around the kitchen aisle towards you. and before it even clicked on your mind, he was already picking you onto one of his shoulders just like a sack of potatoes.

“wha– wait, what are you doing?!” you exclaimed in surprise. face flushed red because of the fact that he’s carrying you, especially just like a sack of potatoes. 

“the obvious. picking you up towards our bedroom. i’m still sleepy and you cook way too slow.”

Tokimitsu had a crush on you for a very long time. How long? Months. Almost a year at this point. But he was always too afraid to tell you about his feelings for you. You're just one of his classmates so you don't talk to him often, but you've noticed him staring at you a lot and how easily flustered he gets when you're near him.

You started developing a little crush on him as well because he just seemed so sweet all the time. You started talking to him a little more often until you finally asked him out on a date and obviously, Tokimitsu immediately said yes.

On the day of the date, he spent hours panicking about it and got so anxious about something going wrong. But he was also so excited about the fact that he was going on a date with you in the first place. He's dreamed about that so many times (every day ever since he started crushing on you, to be honest) and a tiny part of him still couldn't believe it was really about to happen.

And during the entire date, he's still super nervous. He's having a lot of fun with the arcade game and he loves seeing how happy you are whenever you win at a game!! But a part of him is still worried about anything going wrong.

The entire time, you're the one playing and Tokimitsu is just standing there and watching while he cheers for you. But right now, you're struggling to get a cute teddy bear from the claw machine.

As he sees you struggling, Tokimitsu feels a bit bad for you. He doesn't want you to spend all of your money, and he doesn't want you to be sad in case you don't get it.

"Maybe... maybe I can try? Only if you want me to..." He asks nervously.

You step away from the claw machine immediately. "Maybe you're better at this than I am."

Your words give Tokimitsu a little rush of confidence, and that combined with the adrenaline of his anxiety, he puts all of his focus on winning the plushie for you. The first time he fails and it makes him even more nervous, but he wins after the second try!

Tokimitsu doesn't react much when he wins it. He's a bit in disbelief, so he's just kind of staring at the claw machine while you get the plushie out of there. He then immediately snaps back to reality when he feels your arms wrapped around him.

"Toki! Thank you so much!" You cheer and hug him even tighter. It caused Tokimitsu to blush so much, his entire face goes red and when you kiss him on the cheek he's completely out of words.

You spent some more time at the arcade, but it does take a while until Tokimitsu regains his ability to speak. He thinks it might bother you, but you actually think it's very cute.

A bit later at home, Tokimitsu immediately falls asleep because being so nervous all day exhausted him so much. When he wakes up two hours later and opens his phone, he sees you sent him a text. It's a picture of the teddy bear sitting on your bed with the message "He reminds me of you, so I named him Toki! He looks just like you💚"

Tokimitsu stares at the message for minutes and he's just so clueless on what to answer. He's definitely blushing just as much as after you kissed him on the cheek.

And even though he doesn't answer because he's way too nervous to figure out what to text back, you continue sending him pictures of the teddy and how you carry him along wherever you go, no matter if it's at your dinner table or on a short trip to the next convenience store.

With every picture you send him, Tokimitsu only falls more in love with you.

You usually go to the bookstore alone. There's something about the quiet atmosphere and the act of treating yourself to a new book or a few that heals your soul. Books have always been a passion of yours, a way to escape reality and a source of comfort, and Tabito knows that, which is why he has been insistent on wanting to join you on your next trip to the bookstore. He wants to share your passion. 

His eyes watch you intently as you slowly walk along the aisles, sometimes picking up books, looking at their cover art, or reading the blurb on the back. A stack of books is held securely in his arms, and even though the weight grows with every book you add, Tabito effortlessly carries them for you. Something about all of this causes him to feel warm and fuzzy on the inside, maybe it's the cute outfit you picked out especially for this occasion, or maybe it's your content expression as you look at the row of spines. Whatever it is, Tabito can't get enough of it. "Tabi! This one is the sequel to the one I loved!" You exclaim happily, holding up said book. Karasu's lips curl into a soft smile. Your excitement fills his heart—no, his whole being—with joy. "I didn't know it was out already!" You do an excited little jump that is oh so cute, in Tabito's opinion. "Put it on the stack, babe."

As you continue strolling through the aisles, Tabito's gaze starts to wander, taking in the books, reading their titles, and he stops when he spots a particular one that piques his interest. "Babe, look!" He calls out to you, the stack of books held on one arm, while he holds up one singular book with his other hand. "Kama Sutra, I wonder what that is." He says with a grin. Of course, he knows what it is, and even if not, the cover speaks for itself. "Oh look, this woman is bent like a pretzel, maybe we should-" you run up to him, snatching the book from his hand and clasping your hand over his mouth that's still curled into a smirk. "Don't you finish that sentence!" You hiss, your face hot from embarrassment. "Maybe we should get that too. Try some new positions." Tabito continues to tease, and you frown at him. "Shut up." You mutter, but Karasu's smile doesn't waver. 

You're almost done, nearly all of your 'to be read list' in Tabito's arms, ready to be bought, when you contemplate whether you should approach one of the employees to ask for help. Anxiety bubbles up inside of you, an uneasy feeling deep in your stomach, growing just at the thought of talking to someone you don't know. What if you stutter while talking to them? What if they laugh at you? Your nails dig into your palm, your teeth sink into your bottom lip. 

Karasu sees you stalling, eyeing an employee that's stocking books a few aisles away from you. You nervously twiddle your thumbs, and your boyfriend can practically feel the social anxiety coming off of you. "What's wrong?" He asks calmly, reverting his gaze back to you. You bite your lip, "I want to ask if they have this one book in stock... but...". Tabito's eyebrows momentarily shoot up upon understanding what you're getting at, and then he shoots you a reassuring and incredibly charming smile. "Don't worry, I'll ask for you." 

You watch as he approaches the employee, his smile sweet as he talks to her. A few moments later, he returns with a gleaming smile. "She says to check the 'new arrivals' table." You stare up at your boyfriend, your smile so incredibly soft, so warm, so thankful. 

And of course, when the two of you stand in front of the cash register, he doesn't even give you a chance to reach into your purse, doesn't give you the time to pull out your wallet. His hands are so much quicker than yours as he taps his card and pays for all of your books, all the while sporting the most charming smile. Your heart feels so incredibly full, your soul so incredibly loved. You know you're a little spoiled, but he likes doing it, likes treating you like you're the one that created everything good in the world, like you're the only reason for his happiness, and he has to thank you every single day, and you let him, relishing his big and small gestures. 

You couldn't be happier, couldn't be more thankful, more content, as you're curled up in Tabito's strong arms, holding onto one of your new books, half of the pages already read, while the steady clicking of the buttons is the only sound filling the room. A comfortable silence stretches between you two, Tabito is playing some video game, and you're completely absorbed in the story. This is all you need, to be in each other's presence, held tightly, and loved.
