I'm so full of feelings I can't articulate about how much Stede's softness and sweetness impacted everyone around him and also magnified the devastation caused by him leaving. Jim telling the puppet story to Fang and Archie commenting on how she expected him to be more charismatic...because for all their initial disdain for him and his very real incompetence, stede was just so earnestly kind to the crew that they gave themselves permission to be kinder with each other as well. And how much Stede's biggest flaw is not understanding that this endless well of regard and positivity he puts out because he's desperate to receive it himself has been returned. Not understanding that people genuinely benefited from his existence and were impacted by him, including people who didn't even like him. Thinking his presence meant very little when echoes of him are coming out of the mouth of even fucking Izzy Hands.
