Totk/SwS Timeline Ideas And Headcanons (spoilers)

Totk/SwS timeline ideas and headcanons (spoilers)

Post Skyward Sword by several generations— Zelda has to have a child by birth (not necessarily with Link) and those kids go on to become priestesses of Hylia. Sonia and SwS Zelda's were never alive at the same time.

SwS Zelda isn't crowned queen when she moves to the Surface (not yet called Hyrule), and tbh her character would hate that title. She takes on a priestess role that's basically the wing ceremony thing she did but more intense

This is backed by the ancient Hyrulean stelae calling Sonia a priestess by birth before she became queen

Demise's curse isn't necessary tied to Link himself, but those who share the blood of the goddess and the spirit of the hero, thereby cursing Link and Zelda's successors separately. Since Wind Waker shows the spirit of the hero isn't always passed on by blood, he and Zelda don't have to be the ones to have kids but Zelda does have to have a blood related child for her end of the curse.

Rauru has the spirit of the hero—he just doesn't have the Master Sword. He sees Zelda has the broken one and she talks about her hero in the future so much that they don't think that if Demise's hatred is manifesting to Sonia's blood of the goddess there should also be a hero, and just. Never go looking for it.

The Zonai thrived in the sky once the Skyloft Hylians had totally moved to the Surface — they know about Hylia and worship her because they found the remains of Skyloft, so that's why Rauru chooses to name the kingdom he creates Hyrule instead of after a Zonai deity (also because his wife is a priestess with Hylia's blood)

Sonia's Zonai secret stone is made from a piece of Zelda's crystal. The Zonai found it (she brought a shard back to Skyloft for sentimental reasons) and found it was imbued with magic they didn't understand (Zelda never knew about it, it was just an echo of her own power) but eventually learned how to harness it's power. The amber slowed time down so she didn't age in the crystal, and the Zonai figured out how to go a step further and recount the memories of objects

Hyrulean—language, people of the kingdom. Hylian— culture and/or race*. Skyloft is Hylian but not Hyrulean. Rauru is Hyrulean but not Hylian. The Sheikah aren't a subset of Hylian despite what totk says because that's a racist retcon. Sheikah, Gerudo, Zora, Rito, all of the above are Hyrulean because they agree to join Rauru. *race in Zelda is fucked up so I'm approaching this like studying the ancient Mediterranean which did not have the modern concept of race/racism but rather cultural ties. That comes with it's own downfalls and problems but I think the best way to look at this fantasy world is not in terms of modern race but in fake cultures and peoples—however, outside of the story on a meta level, modern racism and bias is extremely prevalent and can't be brushed aside

The Zora evolving into the Rito for Wind Waker was always stupid (why would fish become birds when the world floods) so we're completely ignoring that

“Fuck,” Riku swears the minute he drops the full cup of coffee on the ground. The cup shatters, his boots are covered in coffee but it’s the harshness of how he swears and the instant draining of color in his face that has Sora out of his seat in an instant.

“Here, let me,” Sora says and reaches for Riku’s hand, who surprisingly recoils with a hiss.

“Don’t…” and it’s just as harsh as him swearing.

When Sora pulls away Riku seems to realise how harsh he sounds and he sighs. “I’m sorry,” he says.

“Let me help,” Sora says. He’s a little on the defense because he’s not used to Riku being like this but he gentles his tone regardless. “It’s just coffee!”

Riku leans against the counter so he can bend over to clean but Sora stops him with one hand, and waves his other, concentrating the spell as best he can.

The coffee evaporates and the little shards of the cup pull together in a scrape of porcelain like magnets. Sora bends down to pick the cup up and holds it aloft.

“Not bad, huh?” Sora asks and Riku grins.

“You’re getting a lot better at that,” Riku says with a fond tone. “You’re gonna give the brooms at Yen Sid’s tower a run for their money.”

Sora laughs, but his eye is drawn to Riku’s hand. It’s shaking, in a stunted way, like Riku is clenching down to stop it from shaking.

“Cleaning spells are actually pretty easy,” Sora says and reaches out to take Riku’s hand in his own. “It’s kinda funny, they’re a lot like healing spells. You gotta focus on something…” he looks at Riku’s hand and narrows his eyes at the slight tremble despite his grip. “And try and make it whole again.”

The healing magic flows from Sora’s fingers into Riku’s hand, curling around it like gold and green gentle vines, sparkling against their skin.

“You can’t fix everything,” Riku says, looking down at their joined hands and then at Sora’s face.

“Nope,” Sora says. “But I can try!”

A moment of silence drops between them, so thick it feels like even time slows down. There’s only a few inches between them and it takes everything in Sora not to just step forward.

If Riku didn’t want him to, surely he wouldn’t be looking at Sora like that.

Instead, Riku inhales sharply and steps away. Far enough away that even their hands disconnect. It leaves Sora feeling a little bereft and confused.

“I’m sorry,” Riku says again. He apologises too often. “It feels a lot better now. Your magic is something else.” He halts a moment and looks at Sora the way he was before and it makes Sora feel less bereft and more like he’s going crazy. “You’re something else.”

“Riku…” Sora says, trying to close the distance again. “You can… you can ask for help, you know? I’m your friend.”

Riku smiles, a small thing that makes Sora’s head spin a little. “I know,” he says. “Thanks, Sora.”

He turns and leaves the room, Sora almost wants to go after him, tell him something, anything. Instead he lets Riku leave and feels a little silly for feeling so much over such a small interaction.

Sora picks up the cup that had fallen to the floor and runs his finger over the lines that remain despite it being fixed.

He sets it back down and decides he likes it better this way.

(This was written because I saw a post about Riku’s injuries. The idea of Riku having chronic pain due to injuries is both sad and interesting to me because you know he’s gonna treat it like some cross he has to bear.

Sora is always a powerful magic user in my writing and he would definitely use it constantly to help his friends with the most benign issues.

Also, I cannot even begin to explain how much I loathe the widespread fanon that Roxas thinks it’s funny/great that he permanently injured Riku.)

there is a certain type of loneliness that envelops all of totk's hyrule.

some people recognize us and others act as if they'd never met us in the first place.

the house in hateno is zelda's now, not a trace of us left within its walls. (not a trace of the displayed weapons that once belonged to the companions that haunted us.)

our loyal horse is still the same, though it lacks it's old equipment. the old riding trails are interrupted by fallen debris and more than once we had to take long detours to find out footing.

i found our old hair tie, but I can't bear to wear it. we're not the champion anymore.

it feels as though we are a ghost on familiar streets with a fleeting touch that will never last.

The fact that the chaos emerald and almost Shadow fell into the darkness and the sole existence of it strongly foreshadows that its going to play a bigger role in the story.

The Fact That The Chaos Emerald And Almost Shadow Fell Into The Darkness And The Sole Existence Of It
The Fact That The Chaos Emerald And Almost Shadow Fell Into The Darkness And The Sole Existence Of It

What I’m guessing is that at some point sb definitely going in it. Im betting on Sonic himself. Since he was ready to risk falling in it to save Shadow he’s capable of doing it again. The next time though he’s probably going to take it to an extreme and wont get off so easy, maybe even temporarily sacrificing himself in order to save his friends and/or world(a nice parallel to Shadow doing so in sa2)

The Fact That The Chaos Emerald And Almost Shadow Fell Into The Darkness And The Sole Existence Of It

I can imagine a scenario where this time its Shadow that tries to stop/save Sonic but fails(again a parallel to sa2)

Its probably also going to be used to ultimately beat the chaos council or some other villain but thats not nearly as interesting

Soo, how about that first episode of Sonic Prime S2, eh, guys? How we feeling?

Quick analysis. Sonic has trauma from this whole ordeal, guys. He was showing clear signs of PTSD this ep. Maybe it was obvious, but I'm gonna rant a lil about it, anyway.

It started when Shadow clarified to him, sharply, that their old reality no longer existed. You could hear in his voice that he was on the verge of tears. And just LOOK at him. 😭

Soo, How About That First Episode Of Sonic Prime S2, Eh, Guys? How We Feeling?

And when Shadow took him to the ghost version of Green Hill? When he was talking to who he thought were his friends, only to slowly realize they were nothing more than ghosts of his real friends as they repeated their phrases over and over again? His expression, the way he shook his head ever so slightly, the way he backed up, had to sit down, was actually SHAKING?

Shadow brought him to the cave in the mountain, where the INCIDENT happened. One symptom of PTSD is avoidance of places or people that remind one of a traumatic event. Sonic's face when he realizes where he is?

Soo, How About That First Episode Of Sonic Prime S2, Eh, Guys? How We Feeling?

His ears go up in alarm and his eyes go wide. And then he just stands there, frozen. Shadow has to say his name to get him to start moving. And even when he does?

The way he has one arm up, that's a very defensive stance, often a signal of fear. And he walks, so slowly, like in a trance, into the cave. He stares at the ghostly remains of the Paradox Prism, starts getting flashbacks all over again, all with this look of dazed terror in his eyes.

Soo, How About That First Episode Of Sonic Prime S2, Eh, Guys? How We Feeling?

It hurt my heart to see. 🥺😭
