Season 4 wasn't about Mike being with El. It was about Mike not being with Will. That's how you shoot a pining love story, not an established endgame ship.

"They just want us to know that Will is sad his love is unrequited!" And why would they ever choose to distract you like that? You can only focus on one thing: Milkvan or Will. They picked Will. Every time.

Actually, scratch that. There weren't two options. They could have made it even. They could have given them some happy scenes outside of Will. But they didn't want you to root for them even for a second. And if you did, if you thought you were safe, they wanted you to feel guilty when they pulled back and you saw Will's face. This season was them saying "You're rooting for them? How could you. Look at what you're doing to him."

They associated Milkvan with viewer guilt.

Everyone's analyzed the hell out of the songs on Finn's playlist and I love it but I haven't seen anyone talk about potential reasons behind the name being STurn. Why STurn? Capitalizing the ST is definitely a stranger things reference but what about the rest? It's not ST-urn, because urn doesn't make sense both as a single object or trying to find any acronyms, and it's obviously not Stern because he'd have spelt it that way so it's S-Turn. And what is an S-Turn? At it's basic it's going one direction, doing a 180 turn so you're going the opposite direction, and finally doing a 180 again correcting yourself back into the same direction you were going in the first place. AKA, Mike started as in love with Will (or well on his way to being in love), then his internalized homophobia had him over correcting with El, and now in season five he's finally back on track with loving Will. It's always been Will.

i don’t really mind what people ship but people do realize billford is literally canon , right ? Like not even in a hahaha gay triangle way they’re literally canonically exes . You don’t even have to read between the lines you just have to read the lines . ppl saying “ It’s not canon it’s just heavily implied!!” is so silly to me . Whats the point of implying something that isn’t canon .
