I really rooted for Isaac up until this moment, because for me this was him trying to care for her, but in an extremely wrong way. To me it was very selfish and seemed like it was done out of part jealousy and part insecurity. Like he was afraid that she would go back to Otis instead of dating him. He might try to convince himself that it was done to protect Maeve, but it seemed very possesive and selfish, because he didn’t want to lose her. By deleting the message he took her right to act with all the facts, and thein lies the manipulation.

He could redeem himself next season by owning up for what he did by regretting it and telling Maeve about the message, but yeah.. That’s the way I see it.

just got done watching sex education season 2 and boy i am seething over what they did with isaac in the last episode because i liked him right up until those last seconds. i was actually hoping if the message was apologetic enough isaac would just let it be because he cares enough for maeve to do that instead he erased it and took advantage of her in a vulnerable moment. big yikes

the key to still liking isaac and seeing his deletion of the voicemail as sympathetic, in my opinion, is recognizing that doing so is isaac caring about maeve. you call it taking advantage of her in a vulnerable moment, where i think it's pretty clear that isaac - seeing how maeve's been laid raw by the ordeal with her mother - is saving maeve from having to offer yet another second chance to a person who'd ultimately let her down. he's trying to keep her from the heartache of opening up when he's been through experience after experience that proves doing so only gets a person hurt.

it's selfish of him to insert his own somehow-even-more-cynical-than-maeve's worldview into her business with otis, certainly, but i don't think it makes him exploitative, or even unlikeable. his motivation is clear in both its self-interest and genuine care for maeve.

absolutely mesmerised by so many things regarding that little date dean and cas go on in 10x9 but most of all by dean’s face journey after cas compliments him

literally that IS the face of someone with A BIG DUMB CRUSH!!!!! who has to go ABORT ABORT ABORT and turn his face away so cas doesn’t see THE DUMB FLUSTERED SMILE he has to fight down!!!!!! literally he’s in love with his best friend he’s in LOVE!!!!!!!

Ok but it’s a common thread in early-to-mid seasons that Dean does try to open up and process his feelings- and every time he gets shut down.

No wonder the poor guy keeps his feelings bottled up until he explodes.
