The job of the Acting Grand Sage was no easy task. Most of the time your lover would wake up at the crack of dawn, never forgetting to give you a kiss on the forehead and some breakfast for you to eat later. Only to come back from work at the dead hours of night when you're fast asleep.

Today was no different, even though it was his birthday.

"Five more minutes…"

Alhaitham froze in his place, hand midway from discarding the blanket on him. He sighed and tried to fight the urge to go back to bed. To go back into your loving and warm embrace that he ends up yearning throughout the day while at work.

Steeling his resolve, Alhaitham mustered a simple "I need to go to work" as his excuse. He found the way your nose scrunched up in annoyance cute as you swatted his hand away when he tried to pet your head.

"But it's your birthday, can't you take the day off?"

"Today is like any other day, so no, I can't."

The soft pout at his disregard of his own special day made you chuck a pillow at his face but he effortlessly caught it in one hand. An amused smile as he leaned his weight on his free hand. "You seem awfully keen on getting me to stay." He said, the amused smile still present on his face when you plopped all your weight on top of him. A poor attempt at getting him to stay in bed with you.

Turquoise eyes with a soft gaze that can always make your heart melt was one of the things you bragged about every chance you can get. To have the stoic and poised Alhaitham become nothing but a romantic mess in your hands, it truly was something to brag about.

"What do you want for your birthday?" you asked, sitting up and being face to face with him. He caressed your cheek with the softest touch and most loving expression on his face.

"What's there to wish for when I have everything I could ever ask for?"

'This smooth bastard..'

You only rolled your eyes and tried to get out of bed but a pair of strong arms that encircled your waist pulled you back down.

"Didn't you say you had work to do?"

"They can survive a couple minutes without me around."

Silver strands of hair tickled the side of your neck as he continued to nuzzle his face into you. An endearing habit he did when he felt clingy.

"Just five more minutes. Then I'll leave."

"Why not just stay with me for the day?"

"Hmm.." He hummed, playing with your fingers. A dazed look in his eyes, you noticed. "Just five more minutes.."

You sighed, shoulders slumping down in victory.

He might have said five more minutes, but once those five minutes pass he'll continue to say 'five more minutes' until he eventually falls asleep.

"Alright, just five more."

Patting his head that was still nuzzled on your shoulder, you pressed a soft kiss on his head. Massaging his scalp every so often, luring him deeper into slumber.

"I know what you're trying to do, you know."

"Is it working?"

Turquoise eyes peeked at you, an amused smile greeted you as you continued to pet his hair.

"Yes. Yes it is."

Victory indeed.
