G'day! Lets Do For The Ask Game

G'day! Lets do šŸ“šŸ—‘ļøšŸ“– for the ask game <3

Hello hello, tysm for the ask!! <3

šŸ—‘ļø have you always wanted to be in your field? what was your ā€œalmost-field?

already answered this question here, but TLDR: i never really had a dream field, and my almost field was something along the lines of computer science

šŸ“– a book/reading from your field you’d recommend/really enjoyed?

uuuh okay, i never really read many books in my field. Im currently using Physics in Nuclear Medicine to study for my radiation class, and im really enjoyed it so far. it's really easy to read, and explains everything so well, even if you don't remember all the basic formulas and concepts.

Also, Stuart's Calculus was really fun, tho i only read a couple chapters

šŸ“ an academic pet peeve of yours?

ARGHHHH this literally happened to me today. FUCKIN. MEN. INTERRUPTING. YOU. AS. IF. THEY. HAVE. MORE. IMPORTANT. THINGS. TO. SAY. THAN. YOU. i know this happens in all fields, but omg some STEM men are just so awful, today this guy was interrupting me so much during class when the professor asked ME to speak, that eventually the professor had to ask him to shut up (which was even more surprising bc he's so his favorite student)

Also, med students belittling my medicine subjects. we're literally learning the same thing, bestie. and even if we weren't, you don't see me mocking your joke of math's class (this is mostly a Portugal problem tbh, we still act like med students are gods)

and lastly, constants in physics being called K, like all of them. and other naming mistakes in variables, like kinetic energy sometimes being T??? and frequency being a weird ass greek letter that looks like a v

anyways, sorry for the huge post, i loved answering those questions <3

So Arizona launched an ā€œeducation hotlineā€ that allows ā€œconcerned parentsā€ to report ā€œā€ā€critical race theoryā€ā€ā€ and other things like ~gender identity~ being taught in the classroom

It would be a shame if the number and email were spread to bad actors looking to prank call the AZ Department of Education

602-771-3500 or empower @ azed .gov 🤔

azfamily.com
Horne said two staff members are sorting through the calls, and two investigators are working on credible leads.

PubMed

PubMed is a free resource supporting the search and retrieval of biomedical and life sciences literature with the aim of improving health–both globally and personally.

The PubMed database contains more than 34 million citations and abstracts of biomedical literature. It does not include full-text journal articles; however, links to the full text are often present when available from other sources, such as the publisher's website or PubMed Central (PMC).

Available to the public online since 1996, PubMed was developed and is maintained by theĀ National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM), located at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

anyway anyway; i also think there's not alot of healthy studyblr content that isn't get up at 3am grind till 2:59am rinse and repeat shit (if you have recommendations that isn't that pls let me know) but i just want there to be a spoonie/mentally ill and proud equivalent + might be fun and whimsical lol

lol barely got any work done during the long weekend.

Queue me having to speed run to get misc hw done so I can focus entirely on neurobio.

I have chapter 3 reading and half the notes left, the entirety of chapter 4 and the entirety of chapter 5 left. Not to mention the 20 or so neurobiology questions that I need to actually honestly do. I’ve got such a crazy schedule tmrw lol. I went a bit ham at my calendar and added like literally everything—let’s see how well I stick to it. I’m also going to attempt to find a happy medium between writing down absolutely everything and writing down nothing. Let’s see how this goes! I got the idea from watching the first couple of minutes from an Ali Abdaal video. I’m hoping I’ll be able to stay disciplined enough to stick the to schedule! Make tomorrrow ā€œtheā€ perfect day lol

Either way. I’ve got to go to bed now had. Had an exhausting frisbee practice session at 90* (but felt like 96* according to weather)-also I’m missing our first tourney which is the fun party one that I missed last year too. Hoping I’ll make it next year. I’ve got an orgo chem exam the literal day after and it’s not worth me stressing about it the entire time or taking a risk for my GPA no matter how fun it’ll be. If I wanna do something I’ll make plans with friends instead or something.
