the reason so many attempts to adapt the beauty and the beast following the hugely formative disney version have kinda sucked i think is because writers fail to account for these two simple rules:

1. the beauty character should get to actually be rightfully angry about her situation at first. if you arent giving your beauty the narrative space to be petty and pissed off youve failed and even worse you have bored me.

2. the beast needs to be a bit of a malewife. non negotiable.

i just love werewolf transformation sequences, like YES. let me hear bones shift and break.. skin stretch and rip wide open
