anyway my name is Jaydee and I would like to formally invite you to commission me to draw you a new avatar, here's some I did, I know they're super cool aren't they
How do I find fics I like? Read the summary. If I like that, read a paragraph or two of the fic. If I like that, keep reading. It's... not that complicated. If you want something more, sometimes I'll go into the filters and sort by word count instead of date posted or if it's a really active tag I'll try to narrow things down by specific character or something like that. Found some of my favorite books ever this way. :)
Another AO3 thing I’m curious about, how do yall decide if something is good enough to read? Usually I follow a rule of 1 kudos for every 10 hits. One because it’s easy math and two it’s yet to fail me. Thoughts? Do you just go for it and pray it’s good?

Nick wanted a sick new pfp so I did a bunch of concepts and then drew the one he chose.
(He had an ‘eat the rich’ avatar and at first said he wanted something related to that, but then changed his mind, and also the actual letters he wanted me to use.)
I feel this and also raise you being weirdly knowledgable about obscure-ish true crime stuff that isn't reported because it's too awful. So every time I read a book and they're like "the villain is bad for stabbing a dude this one time" or "omg he killed this one person's relative and it was a quick, painless death but omg!" I'm just like "you tried sweetie, but chances are high I agree with the ideals of the villain and they've almost certainly killed less people than your protagonist". XD
Being a history nerd makes reading dystopias or crime novels kind of sad tbh. The author is like 'these people are awful!! Sometimes... they... KILL people!!!' And I'm like 'hmm. I've been on a deep dive into the shit that went on in Chile in the 70s and 80s, do you need like... some ideas?'
Oh man this sounds like it would be my jam but I can't read any of it. :( The preview is what looks to be image files in a weird website reader that will not work with my screen reader no matter what I try and the full book is a pdf, which are notoriously uncooperative with screen readers. Dang. This looks cool. Someone with working eyes, if you buy it, let me know if it's good.

LITTLE FOOLERY PRESENTS:
SONG OF THE BULL RIDER
The Kingdom of Men and Women have always stood apart, but Kanan, a child from the Kingdom of Between, is not strictly a man or a woman. Following the capture of their small country, Kanan is presented to the Kingdom of Men’s crown prince as a war prize and political hostage. Alone in a strange land they do not belong, Kanan must navigate complicated court politics, strict gender roles, and a brutal civil war to find their freedom. Their only ally? That very same arrogant, insecure young prince whom they were given to as a gift.
