After all, he was Kim Namjoon and you’d heard about all the ways he broke hearts.  Never on purpose, fortunately, but with increasing frequency since you’d started running in the (surprisingly) same circles.  He was as unattainable as the specialty imported chocolate on the top shelf of his parents’ bodega - always enticing but terribly out of reach.

I do not live anywhere close to a bodega, but if there was a Kim Namjoon there, I sure as hell would be going to one too! But really Erin, I honestly enjoyed this so much. It was a nice relief for me and to get me away from all of my classwork this semester. Reading a piece of yours feels so bright and comfortable. I feel so cozy whenever I read a story of yours because everything that you write feels so easy. I’m able to immediately see the scene from the eyes of the main character, feel their emotions, and this was no different.

He was cute in a way that snuck up on you, that you didn’t need reminding of but that presented itself at the strangest times.  

This was honestly so spot on I had to lean back in my chair because WOW Erin! For me, I was able to feel and imagine so much, it was like a montage was running though my mind once I read this sentence. And here: 

You decide in that moment - in your oversized boyfriend jeans and big sunglasses pushed up in your hair, with your absurd amount of goodies resting on the counter between you - that you want more of it.  You want more of Kim Namjoon, even if you’re unravelling his mysteries as you go.

I’m sighing right now because I’m utterly in awe of you and your talent. You make writing feel so easy even though I know that it’s not. Especially with the scene of familiarity and home with a bodega because I understand how integral places like this may be for others. And I guess in a way Namjoon is the same. You’re able to implement details and imagery and just make everything feel so...real. I wish that there were better words to describe how I’m feeling based from this, but I hope that for now, this will suffice.

It’s somewhere that’s seen you grow up, from your shitty pre-teen days - when you’d had that godawful fringe and those ugly sneakers your parents had bought from the Super A Mart in Chinatown - all the way to now, with your slightly cuter shoes and significantly better hair.  It’s watched you grow as much as your family has, a figurative presence in your life that’s shaped you through the years.
