sticky situations | prologue.

PAIRING: spiderman! mark lee x sidekick! afab reader
GENRE: superhero! au, f2ls, romance, action, SLOW BURN, angst, fluff, humor
WORD COUNT: 8.2k
NOTES: profanity, depictions of violence, weapons, blood/injuries, all around obliviousness, not proofread im sorry i write at like the peak of dawn
SUMMARY: you never thought youâd be partners in crime with the red and blue spandex wearing hero who is not only your friend mark, but also the guy you secretly have a crush on.Â
authorâs note: hihi! for the first time i decided to write a prologue for one of my upcoming wips (mainly bc it would be too long if i included all the backstory into the original fic lmao) anyways this serves as a sort of teaser so hopefully its alright :) - jae

all throughout highschool, you didnât really classify your life to be âexcitingâ. you lived in one of the biggest and busiest cities in the country and yet no long lasting love interests, cutthroat drama between your friends, not even a social life to begin with. you supposed it was your choice, after all. you were the one who chose a simple and mundane life and now you had to stick with it.Â
the pace didnât really pick up until you turned eighteen and obtained an internship at the newly reformed octavius industries. it was your choice to go into the stem-based field and you did not regret it one bit. the environment was always friendly and you felt normal- as normal as a human doing whatever they wanted to do could be. and surprisingly, it wasnât hard to form a friend group among the other interns who had similar aspirations (and social anxiety) as you.Â
lee donghyuck was the first person you met at the labs. entering the company as interns together on the first day, you classified him as the annoyingly bright guy that needed to fucking chill sometimes- and he agreed when you told him that. next was chenle and jisung. they were the two peas in a pod and to be honest, they needed to chill more than donghyuck. nevertheless, they were a breath of fresh air in your stress-filled life.Â
last but certainly not least, was mark lee. you wonât lie, at first you struggled to connect with him. he was already close friends with donghyuck, chenle, and jisung from high school, so you were actually the newcomer. it wasnât anything like he gave off âweird vibesâ to you, mark was just a lot quieter than the other guys and you didnât know as much about him. when you asked jisung, that boy just shrugged and said he started acting like that about a year ago but the subject was touchy so they dropped it. apparently, itâs been fine ever since.Â
to you, mark was just the mysterious guy with a secret. oh for sure, that man was hiding things from the rest of you and you especially were determined to figure out whatever it was. all those cuts and scraps decorating his knuckles and face that came from his âhobbyâ when you questioned him, yeah no- you didnât believe any of that bullshit.Â
Keep reading
shamelessly reposting bc i think i actually wrote decently well in this fic!!! (ïœȘ-)

settling down on the small couch overlooking the city scape, you occasionally took small sips of your warm drink. the wind caressing your cheeks only made you snuggle even further into the blanket huddled over you. the december weather was beginning to drop in temperature, preparing you for winter. the cars speeding by on the streets below ensured a comfortable atmosphere but just for extra relaxation, you had put on your favourite song on the portable speaker beside you.
you had no idea why you decided to sit on the balcony but you felt like it was needed. your colleagues at work hadnât been that much of a supporting group of people, instead, adding on to the stress that had been building up on your shoulders which resulted in a huge migraine by the end of the week.
from your apartment, you could see the multiple christmas trees scattered around the area from the bright twinkling lights strewn around them. the sights calms you down a little since it gave you a reminder of the break that both you and changmin would be getting. this short break meant everything for you because it finally gave you guys time to spend with one another.
indulging yourself in the scenic view, you suddenly took note of the slight movement you saw from the reflection of the glass railings on the balcony. as soon as you could make out the person approaching you from behind, you broke into a smile, the butterflies in your stomach awakening. you swore you felt the hairs on your arms stand when you saw him returning a cute, lazy smile. even his outfit was screaming boyfriend material.
when he reached your little snuggly space, he wrapped his arms around your neck from behind, peppering your cheek with kisses. you couldnât help but to nuzzle into him, the warmth of his embrace washing away all your worries in the world. the dumb smile plastered on your face said everything, you were head over heels for him.
pushing up the specs that had rested themselves on his nose, he gladly accepted the seat you offered beside you. âi miss you,â he said, stroking your hand for comfort. you turned to him, mustering up a sad smile, âi know, my changmin, but look at the brighter side, itâs christmas soon, hm?â he only hummed in response and so, you pulled him close, resting your head on his and caressed his back, giving solace.
âoh wow, look at that star,â you were in awe as you started pointing up at it, alerting changmin. he straightened his back up and slided an arm around your shoulder, holding you tightly in his arms as the two of you started to realise that the night sky was packed with a few constellations and many stars, a rare sight to see due to the pollution in the city.
you guys just took a moment to stare at the starry night sky, a peaceful silence engulfing the situation. the roads had begun to quieten down and the hustle bustle of the city died down, leaving the night in stillness. âhey, do you know the name of that constellation?â you asked, gesturing to the one shaped somewhat like the letter âkâ.
unbeknownst to you, changmin had zero intentions of watching the night sky, his attention instead turned to you. he couldnât help but to lovingly gaze at you whilst you were so intrigued by the sight. so when you suddenly asked him something, he was caught off-guard. âuh, that one is called.. the.. âerethizonâ,â he stumbled over his own words, hoping you believed him even just a little.
you immediately started to laugh to yourself, doubling over when you heard his words. âare you serious? erethizon?â you forced out, taking deep breaths in between your unstoppable laughter. âah, why!â he whined at your reaction. âbabe, erethizon is literally a species of porcupine,â you grinned, cupping your hand over your mouth. âs-shut up! i didnât know what it was, i wanted to sound smart,â he grumbled, sulking to himself, âhow do you even know that!â âokay, okay, sorry,â you apologised, swinging your arms around his middle, still laughing into his chest.
you managed to calm both you and changmin down since he too started laughing at the absurdity of the situation. looking up at him from your position, he was already glancing at you like you were his world. âwhat?â you questioned. ânothing, my y/n,â he said, kissing the tip of your nose. âi wish we could spend more time with each other like this.â
changmin was right, you guys barely had time to see each other with such busy schedules so even the smallest actions and littlest time you spent together mattered.
in the end, you are his world. and he is yours. no one could compare.
âin this city of ours, i just wanna hold you tight.â

âwelcome!â a very familiar voice called out to you as you entered the quaint flower shop, the bell chiming above you. âoh, hey y/n,â changmin said as he saw who came into his parentsâ shop. to be frank, he wasnât surprised to see you here as you seem to be here every other day for god knows what reason but he just assumed you found comfort in the floral scent.
âhi, changmin. iâll be at the cafĂ© stand first,â you waved then pointing to the makeshift drink stand the flower shop had by the corner. he nodded and you took the cue to leave. while the reason you kept coming here was somewhat true, letâs face it, the bigger reason why you came was because of said boy.Â
changmin and his parents had moved to your city for the last three years and you still remember how you felt when you first saw him during your afternoon stroll. his blonde hair immediately caught your attention and you made it a mission to find out more about him.
Ëâ⥠ â*àłàŒ
humming a tune under your breath, you werenât too alert of your surroundings which lead to you crashing into a guy carrying several plastic bouquets. âwoah! oh my, iâm so sorry,â you immediately got down to your knees and helped him pick up the dropped flowers when you regained your senses.Â
the flowers were absolutely beautiful and you had never seen them before. an exotic flower? âwow, these are so pretty! iâm sorry i dropped them..â you trailed, finally looking up at the taller male, immediately taken aback by his looks. âheh, itâs okay, it didnât do too much damage,â he chuckled, gripping the bouquets tighter before continuing, âthese are actually crocuses, they symbolise new beginnings.âÂ
âooh, how do you know so much?â you were intrigued to say the least, a boy pops up out of nowhere and is suddenly spitting out flower symbols? âwell first, hi, iâm changmin. my parents and i just moved into the neighbourhood and weâre setting up our family flower shop just down this road,â he explained.Â
âthatâs so cool! iâm y/n, iâll be sure to come visit,â you smiled gently at the thought of meeting him more often. âyea, of course. i have to go now, see you around y/n,â he waved goodbye, a whiff of his perfume lingered in your nose as he walked past you.Â
oh boy, he has you wrapped around his finger for sure.
Ëâ⥠ â*àłàŒ
here you were, sat at a small table, sipping your strawberry acai refresher as you watched changmin mingle with the customers and not hesitating to help them out whenever they needed it. you couldnât help but allow a grin to form on your face, seeing his outgoing personality.Â
ây/n, if youâre in love with my son, just tell me, iâll do the rest!â changminâs mom came from the storage room, approaching you with a knowing look. âmrs ji, itâs not like that,â you played it off, a red hue basically forming on your cheeks. âyea, yea, denial is the first step,â she laughed at you before stirring her own mug of coffee.Â
the two of you continued your conversation when changmin finally came over when the storeâs peak hour was over. âiâll leave you guys to it,â his mom kinda threw you under the bus with that comment and that smirk on her face but changmin didnât see it or pretended not to see it because he didnât say anything.Â
âso, may i be of any assistance today, miss y/n?â he asked, jokingly. âhm, i think so, sir changmin! whatâs a flower that represents admiration?â you played along, which was something he was definitely not expecting but he took in your words. âwell, you could get either dianthuses or dahlias, both have several meanings but admiration is one of the more known reasons,â he placed his chin on his palm, pondering about his flower knowledge.Â
you simply nodded but his words caught you off-guard, âwhat do you need them for?â coughing slightly, you could only reply, âitâs for.. research! yeah! a uni project, mhm.â you didnât think he was this gullible but he bought your reason and abruptly stood up. he reached behind the counter before he handed you a small A5 sized book, âfloriographyâ.Â
when you flipped through it, you were surprised to see detailed illustrations of flowers and their symbols, âoh wow, what is this book?âÂ
âi got it when i first started getting into this florist industry so i figured this would be really informative for your project, feel free to borrow it for as long as youâd like!â he beamed at you and your heart could only take so much. âa-are you sure? doesnât this mean a lot to you?â you stuttered, not believing what changmin is doing for you. âi mean, yea but you need it more,â he sheepishly grinned and you only threw your arms around his shoulder. âthank you!âÂ
you left the flower shop with a giddy feeling, book close to your chest as you hugged it. you did feel bad because first, this book means a lot to him and second, you didnât even have a uni project. you simply had admiration for changmin. i mean, he was an amazing florist and he couldâve been doing what he enjoys but he instead took care of his family business, starting at a young age. you were head over heels for him.
you were scanning the pages when two flowers caught your eyes. âred tulipsâ and âgladiolusâ. red tulips meant passion and love, almost saying âmy feelings are trueâ while gladiolus had the symbolism of infatuation and admiration. seeing these, you took it as the perfect time to send these to changmin.Â
it was a really bold step but you felt that you had kept this crush on him for the longest time already, the timing should be right. the worst that could happen was he would reject you and you will have to put up with that..
who are you kidding? your world would probably crash down and youâd die of embarrassment! your own thoughts made this so much harder to decide what to do. but, before you knew it, you were already placing a bouquet of red roses, tulips and gladiolus on the flower shop doorstep, an hour before the shop would start to operate.Â
you donât know what came over you but you felt like you had to run away so you did. run away from these thoughts of uncertainty and insecurity. you prayed for him to return the feelings and you could only pace around the room, waiting for a reply.Â
several days had passed and you completely avoided the shop incase changmin would feel uncomfortable because he has yet to reply to you. even though you badly wanted to see him, youâd rather not make matters worse.Â
you were in your room, drawing flower sketches all over your notes when the doorbell rang. you begrudgingly stepped towards the front door and was met with a bouquet of yellow flowers. a card on the front had your name on it so you immediately brought it to your room.Â
you took a deep breath in before ripping the card apart from the staple. it read, âto: y/n, from: changminâ. wait, changmin? he gave you flowers? oh my god, he gave you flowers! today was a happy day and that was the only thing you could think of.
you hastily opened the card and he only wrote two words in there. âyellow carnations.â
hold on, these words were familiar to you. youâve seen this in the book he gave you before. you were almost like a mad woman, flipping and scanning through every page until you found âyellow carnationsâ. you hoped for the best but the words written in the book only made you feel like digging a hole in the backyard for yourself.
âyellow carnations symbolise rejection and disdain.â

introducing k shop net!
hello hello friends! happy to announce that myself and the bestie miss brennan @seoulbinz have created our own network to allow kpop fic writers to share their works, form connections and friendships with other writers, as well as have people rec their fav fics! we are now taking applications for members if you are interested á”áŽá”
there is no age limit to apply, we just ask that we be mindful of who we interact with in the network as well as keep nsfw fics in the hands of legal members only! i will copy and paste how to apply, but you can find more information, how to rec a fic, and guidelines on the network page -> @kshopnet
how to apply:
1. follow us @kshopnet! not mandatory, but very much appreciated and allows you to participate in any events we might hold.
2. join the discord! also not mandatory, but more active and a way to make friends and talk to the admins.
3. be aware that there are minors and adults and behave yourself accordingly. if you wish to not interact with minors, the onus is on you to not talk to them.
4. post a fic of some kind at least every 6 months, and inform admins of: url changes, alias changes, hiatuses, side-blogs for more kpop related fics, etc.
5. fill out the application.
6. type âcotton candyâ in the last question of the application so we know you read our rules. if you did not do so, admin brennan (@seoulbinz) or myself will message you asking to read through the rules again and reapply.
7. you will be dmâd when accepted and sent the link to the discord.
please be patient with us! brennan and i are both still learning the ropes so things are still being worked out, but we would love for people to join <3 if anyone has any questions about the network, iâll be happy to answer!!
