Why I think Severus Snape would be better off in Ravenclaw:

Literally a freaking prodigy

Snape was great at preparing potions, and according to his book, he probably surpassed his teachers as well. He invented potions and spells at the mere age of 15 (and even before, possibly)

Academically brilliant

Severus was not only an excellent potion-maker, he also did exceedingly well in his OWLs and NEWTs. This shows he could memorize textbook paragraphs even if they weren't the recipe he'd follow.

Broad minded, open to new ideas

Snape didn't confine himself to the curriculum, he diverged from it and bettered it. Allowed himself to experience and explore with new topics. He was not satisfied with gaining a bit of knowledge and stopping there.

Thirst for knowledge

He was very interested in the dark arts. Why? Because it was fascinating, not because he wanted to become a mass murderer. Snape wanted access to all forms of knowledge, and sadly, most people think that's a bad thing.

Out-of-the-box thinking

Need I say anything here? This is basically what the Harry Potter books are made of.

Rational and logic YET a dreamer

Snape invented spells and their counter-spells and I think this is the perfect example of how Snape's logical reasoning coupled with his drive to innovate merge together. He invented spells out of necessity and curiosity but knew when to use them.

People-smart

Snape knew how to get what he wanted. He knew what buttons to push to get Sirius, Harry etc mad and knew how to manipulate (being among the DEs as a spy for so long, it was necessary).

A triple agent?!

That stuff requires LOTS of brainpower and how Severus managed not to get caught all those years escapes me. He's really amazing at controlling his emotions in the DE meetings (excuse me his boggart is voldemort) And letting people see only what he wants them to see.

Skilled at occlumency

This one is super serious because it takes skill to block out your mind and bury your thoughts. And for Snape to do it for two decades against VOLDEMORT of all people is admirable.

He wouldn't end up a DE

There was no bias against Ravenclaw. Those guys mingled with the rest of the school, weren't exposed to DEs, weren't bullied by a gang of jerks, literally just vibed at Hogwarts with the rest. There's no denying Snape's life would've been completely different if he hasn't ended up in Slytherin, and honestly I just want that man to be happy.

ginny: *is literally possessed by voldemort for the better part of a year*

ginny: *still manages to not be a horrible person*

remus: *had no friends until he was 11, lives in constant fear of being outed as a werewolf, forced to become a monster every month*

remus: *still manages to not be a horrible person*

luna: *watched her mother die, picked on by everyone except ginny, treated as a freak, has only one friend until she’s 14*

luna: *still manages to not be a horrible person*

hagrid: *expelled at age 13 for something he didn’t do, accused of murder twice, outcasted for being half-giant*

hagrid: *still manages to not be a horrible person*

cho: *has her first love be murdered by a genocidal dictator and about half the world refuses to believe it, must struggle with her feelings towards harry and her guilt about them*

cho: *still manages to not be a horrible person*

mcgonagall: *fell in love with a muggle but had to break off their engagement, for fear of turning out like her own mother, later married a wizard who she loved but he died 3 years later*

harry: *is degraded and abused his entire childhood, forced to sleep in a cupboard for 11 years, constantly treated as being an unwelcome outsider, told he should be grateful for his abusers taking him in, lied to constantly for the first 11 years of his life about who he is and who his parents were, consistently blamed for things that he couldn’t control, picked on at school and continuously beaten up by his cousin’s gang, sees multiple people die*
