She flew across the room and crushed Inej in a tight hug. Then they were all around her at once, hugging her, clapping her on the back.

Kaz rapped his cane on the stone floor. He was standing in the doorway to the tomb. “If everyone is done cuddling, we have a job to do.”

She would never know what it was like for him to see Nina pull her close, watch Jesper loop his arm through hers, what it was to stand in doorways and against walls and know he could never draw nearer

Do you ever just. cry.

i need a book best friend.

i need someone to spam when i read a good book, to rant with to ungodly hours of night, to talk to, to laugh with, to be the other half of my coin. to talk about worlds that don't exist, people that are no more than ink and paper, to read my writing and give me inspiration. it could be someone on the other side of the world. it doesn't matter. not if we become whole, not if we know each other as well as we know our stories.

i need a book best friend.

Besides, Jesper would smoothe it all over... He had a gift for making Kaz’s victories sound like they belonged to everyone.

Friendly reminder that Jesper is actually an important part of Kaz's ability to maintain his reputation and keep people on his side, and he's not just comic relief and a good shot.
