inej ghafa's parents don't care that she's lied to, and stolen from, and killed other people. they don't care that she's sinned, or gone against every religious practice that their family held dear. all of that gets thrown aside the second they see their daughter alive and happy and all they really do care about is that she finally found peace and freedom in the barrel and with its bastard.

High-key hate how Shadow and Bone (and its stans) turned "Inej has to bend her morals to survive in the horrific situation" into "Inej bends her morals for Kaz specifically", because one is a child forced to make compromises to survive but still retaining her innate sense of goodness and morality, and the other is "watch this brown girl sacrifice her religion for a white man."

Even if the action is the same, the implication for the audience is that she's doing this for Kaz and it just doesn't sit well with me
