I Feel Like This Is An Unpopular Opinion, But More People Should Read Incomplete/unfinished/in-progress

I feel like this is an unpopular opinion, but more people should read incomplete/unfinished/in-progress fanfics.

I've noticed this huge trend where creators on tiktok and tumblr who will be explaining how to use Archive Of Our Own to new users and they always say "and make sure to scroll down and click completed only" or how people will go out of their way to mention they only read completed fics 'because they were traumatized when they forgot to check the dates and didn't realize this fic hadn't been updated since 2012'.

The thing is - I think by not engaging with and/or actively avoiding writer's WIPs readers are potentially adding to the aggregate of abandoned works. Now this obviously isn't the case for all abandoned fics, anything from major life events, to loss of interest, to getting busy can be a reason for a fic getting abandoned - but at least on some level I just know that writers are quitting while they're ahead when they aren't garnering any response or feedback because reading WIPs has become unpopular. If you're worried about reading something that hasn't been updated since 2012 then you can use the date updated function to sort out old fics.

Been watching Meitantei Holmes/Sherlock Hound. It’s rather enjoyable! I’m not a big fan of Sherlock Holmes, but this series is cute, amusing and lovely so I am loving every second of it! (It’s also what basically resulted in me enjoying The Great Mouse Detective.)

In this scene, Holmes/Hound (I’ll just call him Holmes) and Watson were asleep on separate chairs. When the doorbell sounded, Watson, in a half-asleep state, got up saying he’d go answer the door (though Mrs. Hudson is doing so), tripped over, fell onto Holmes’ lap and went right back to sleep. Mrs. Hudson was amused at the sight, and I really can’t help but wonder how those two reacted upon waking in such a state.

I LOVE the Baker Street Trio (Holmes, Watson, Mrs. Hudson) and Polly (from the episode with the Blue Ruby/Blue Carbuncle). I kept thinking that if she were adopted by either of the Baker Street Trio, all four of them would make such a darling family! As it was, I got vibes of Papa Sherlock, Uncle John and Mama Marie! XD

Mrs. Hudson is so cool in this series! You do NOT want to mess with her!!

But, really, loving every second of this.

-- When Baloo was a kid, I imagine he was the one among his friend group who did most of the comforting when one was upset. Like he could be a bitch when around the other kids with that sort of influence. But if you happened to catch him on his own and were feeling down, he was very sweet and did his best to pick you up. For a lazy guy, he really put effort into making people feel better. 

-- Molly grew up to develop an interest in being a mechanic cuz she admired Wildcat so much <3 She also wanted a motorbike. She expressed this interest to Shere Khan and, during her teen years, he bought her a motorbike. He then nearly passed out when he found out she had taken the whole fucking thing apart. But like chill, sir, she just wanted to see what its insides looked like. shes perfectly capable of putting it back together.

-- SHERE KHAN EXPERIENCES KITTY CAT SILLY HOUR. one minute hes fine, then the next his pupils go wide, hes galloping down his hallway, slamming into walls and making weird noises. Sometimes this is at 3am.

-- Kit wanted Baloo and Rebecca to get married for the admittedly childish reason of “we can all be a family and they’ll be my happily married mom and dad :)” but then once they DID get married, he has to deal with them kissing in front of him and hes sick of this shit, gET A ROOM!!! But tbh hes happy that theyre happy, he wants whats best for the people he loves

-- Rebecca would get in fights at parent/teacher meetings when Kit’s teachers complain about him drawing planes in his notebook when he’s supposed to be paying attention. That is how he concentrates you utter fool.
