To get the subtler aspects of it, you might start to construct your own practice based on his example (Azoetia is an example of a personal practice grimoire and how it was built working with spirits). I'd suggest to try the automatic writing and drawing to begin with to create your pwn similar personal practice. I find it helps to examine his sources, if you can track down some of Austin Ozman Spare's books on automatic writing, drawing, the alphabet of desire and the witches sabbath.
