Poem: Ground Control #1
Poem: Ground Control #1
One of my favorite songs
Promises that it's okay
To drift along in space
And feel lost sometimes,
But the feeling of floating
Indefinitely
Sounds awfully stressful
Because for how long do I need to drift
Before someone realizes and reels me home?
And how would they find me,
So far gone,
If I haven't ever mentioned
That I can feel myself slipping away?
And how can I tell them,
If I don't realize
Until I've drifted too far
To reel back in?

Poem: Explorers
I want to watch the world with you.
Let’s walk somewhere, or everywhere,
And take in the sky,
Sunrise to sunset
With a glint in your eye.
Come exploring with me.
Let’s go on a hunt
For the tallest tree;
I’m afraid of falling
But I’ll climb it
If you’ll be up there with me.
We can find a field
For picnicking,
Stargazing,
Dream-chasing.
Let’s ride our bikes to the ocean
To breathe in some salt and sunshine
Before we have to turn back.
Let’s pretend that we’ve known each other
For as long as the world has been here
And make every step together
A new adventure.

Poem: Drifting
Sometimes I sit alone
And watch the ever-changing sky.
I see the clouds in shapes of you
As they go slowly drifting by.

Poem: Searching
I’ve been searching
Through aisles stretching for miles
Seeking out the shade of you
That lingers in my mind
But seems too rare to find.
I’ve been searching
In the hopes that I’ll
Stumble across that forest green hue
Of your eyes, all the while
Hoping that I’ll find you among the racks.
I’ve been searching
Through an endless sea
Of everything that feels like nothing
Because it won’t lead me back to you –
I’m wishing that your heart is searching for me, too.

Your heart still had its color?
Did I ruin you?”
