There was something so upsetting about having to put your stuffed animals in the wash as a kid. Having to be without your nightly comfort when the dark would close in. But they always came back, didn't they? They'd come back warm from the dryer and smelling and feeling clean, and you could imagine it was just like having a nice bath.
