one concept i have always loved but can't remember ever seeing ever is nearby flames matching natsu's breaths. specifically when he's asleep. also natsu seekinh out fireplaces when he's sick or needing comfort. just. one (relatively) quiet evening in the guild, romeo or someone notices the flames in the fireplace expanding and shrinking rhythmically, calmly, unnaturally. everyone is poking around, trying to figure out why their fire appears to be breathing when someone finally finds natsu fast asleep in the rafters or somewhere weird. this is especially cute if you imagine it happening when he's a kid.

natsu is sick as a dog and isn't being let out of the infirmary for a few days but being cooped up there is stressing him out, he just wants to curl up at home and ride this out but no one will let him. natsu disappears from the infirmary, the guild is frantically looking in every nook and cranny of magnolia looking for their sick dragon, someone finally notices the flames in the fireplace are moving a little too rhythmically and, upon closer inspection, they notice the pink mess of hair curled up in the center of the logs like a baby bird in a nest. he's sleeping easier than they've seen since he got sick and decide to let him be. i usually imagine this also happening within natsu's first year at the guild, particularly cuz he was a small kid and would probably hide better in a fireplace but it definitely still works well when he gets older.
