Crucible - Ch 15

Pairing: Link x Reader

Prompt: For the Bittersweet Mini Bang!

Series Warnings (18+ only): Eventual smut, slow burn, violence, mild body horror, lots of whump, angst with a happy ending

Chapter Summary: The Champion’s life hangs in the balance, and there’s nothing you can do to aid him.

AO3

Crucible - Ch 15

You pressed your knuckles against your mouth to keep silent, something bitter and acidic rising in the back of your throat. The disturbing sensation throughout your body was only getting worse, and there was no comfort from the fact that Link was still alive. Not when you so clearly remembered the way he had moments of discomfort and pain emanating from that same hand. Always covered and so secretive that he wouldn’t even share it with the Zora prince.

Something was terribly wrong with the Champion.

Keeping as quiet as you could, you followed after the procession moving with haste down the halls. It wasn’t difficult—they paid more attention to their destination than to their surroundings—but you remained cautious as you sped from one doorway to the next.

You didn’t have to go far; the guards disappeared into another hallway and through a large wooden door. Creeping closer, you kept against the wall as you approached the opening, ears alert for any approaching footsteps. But for now, there were none, and you strained to hear the voices inside.

“Set him here on the bed. Has word been sent to the scientists?”

“Yes,” came the familiar voice of the royal advisor. “Purah and Robbie should be on their way.”

“Good, good. The rest of you may leave.”

“Lady Hannar, what has befallen Master Link—“

“That’s not for you to know,” the first voice snapped. The royal advisor was a bit more diplomatic in her tone to the Captain of the Guard.

“Please, tell no one about his condition. By the princess’ degree, it’s to remain a secret.”

Blank Space

Pairing: Soft!Dark Steve Rogers x Fem!Reader

Word Count: 1.6k

Summary: Being stood up was both a blessing and a curse.

Warnings: 18+ ONLY. Minors DNI. Not really dubcon, but mentioning it just in case, since deception is involved. Smut. Deception, breeding kink, stalking. Grammar and spelling errors.

Note: Here is my (laaate) entry for @syntheticavenger 's 5k challenge! Congrats, beautiful! You MORE than deserve it. You’re constantly blessing us with amazing writing, and we’re so lucky you indulge us as much as you do. Thank you for all the support you’ve given me and so many others in this community.

Here’s to many more milestones!

I was given the prompt “stood up on a date” with Steve.

---

How it started…

You had just about given up on dating apps.

It hadn’t even been long since you downloaded the one Mary was raving about, but it had been a complete miss so far. Messages were either lewd or devoid of personality. A nondescript “Hey” and nothing more, as though that was meant to be enticing enough in itself. The few times you’d managed to get a back and forth going, you were ghosted after a couple days.

So when Jeremy stuck around for a full week and asked you out to dinner, you immediately said yes.

He was handsome, which was always a little intimidating. Your friends often told you to think more highly of yourself, but you struggled. Still, Jeremy was charismatic in a way that didn’t come off pretentious or fabricated. He seemed genuinely interested in your life and was candid about his.

Part of you wondered if he was playing a cruel trick on you given how every other match ceased to catch fire, and he was leagues above them, but you figured few adults would be so petty.

So you slipped on the cocktail dress you only broke out in case of emergencies, and your favorite necklace that rested just above your decolletage. You kept your eye makeup simple, opting to pick a shade of red lipstick that made your lips pop.

You wanted to make a good first impression, and you knew it would start as soon as he saw you.

The restaurant was in the nicer part of town, upscale enough to be considered classy but not so much that you’d feel out of place. You made decent money as an assistant editor for a magazine, but you still lived in a small but cozy apartment. New York City wasn’t cheap, especially if you wanted to be closer to work.

Having arrived a little earlier, you waited at the bar, needing some liquid courage to ease you into your date.

When the clock struck seven, you felt a giddy rush in your belly that sank to your toes, making you feel warm, cold, and numb at the same time.

But then five minutes passed.

Then ten.

You sent Jeremy a text.

Hey, just wanted to make sure you’re alright?

At 7:30pm, he had yet to respond, and you wondered if you had done something to anger him.

With a heavy heart and tears ready to well in your eyes, you decided to leave. There was a tub of ice cream waiting for you at home, and you could wash it down with the bottle of cheap wine you keep in the back of your pantry. It was for whenever you had a guest over and wanted to seem put together enough to have wine available at all times.

“I’d like to close out,” you told the bartender when they passed by, trying to keep the wobble out of your voice.

“Rough night?” A voice said beside you. It was light, friendly. You could see the outline of a pressed blue button-up from the corner of your eye.

“A little,” you sighed. “But I won’t bore you with my sob stories.”

“I wouldn’t be bored at all,” he said and you glanced at him.

You visibly jumped.

Steve Rogers- Captain America- was leaning on the countertop next to you, his eyes gleaming.

“Oh fuck,” you murmured. “I mean, oh God, I’m sorry-” you stammered, trying to recover.

This is why you’ll die alone with nothing but your vibrator and 10 cats, you inwardly groaned.

“Hey hey, don’t worry about it,” he smiled, and you relaxed a little.

You knew he hated being treated like a God. The magazine did a piece on him a couple months prior, and he came in for an interview. How a man as extraordinary like him managed to be so incredibly humble was beyond you. He tried to learn everyone’s name, and while you never spoke to him, he smiled at you when you caught his eye.

“I was meeting up with a friend but he bailed on me,” he sheepishly said as he fiddled with the glass of whisky he was holding.

“Is he out saving the world?” You asked and closed your eyes, knowing you were making an ass of yourself. “That... was a joke. A bad one…”

To your surprise, Steve laughed.

“He is, actually.”

You smiled, feeling a little more relaxed knowing you hadn’t completely offended him.

“Must be hard,” you sighed.

“It has its perks.”

“How many times a day do you get people thanking you for your service?”

“About every thirty minutes when I’m in public.”

“The baseball cap not enough of a disguise for you?” You smirked.

Steve snorted a little.

“You’d be surprised how often it works.”

You laughed lightly, relaxing back into the barstool, all notions of leaving long gone.

“That would drive me up a wall,” you mused. “I mean, it sounds so ungrateful for me to say that. I'm just guessing you weren’t exactly asking for fame when you joined the army.”

“Far from it.”

A moment of comfortable silence passed, and Steve sat in the stool next to yours.

“So what brings you here?” He asked.

You bit your lip, a little embarrassed, but something about the blue in his eyes had you feeling secure in your vulnerability.

“My date stood me up,” you admitted.

“Well, he’s an idiot.”

When you glanced back up at Steve, his gaze on you was heavy but not suffocating, like he was appreciating a puzzle that was just difficult enough to keep him from giving up.

How it’s going…

“Steve,” you moaned as he thrust into you, your favorite dress crumpled on the floor. Your lips were a little swollen from the rough kisses you'd exchanged throughout the night. It hardly mattered. Steve was determined to make your pussy sing the national anthem.

You hadn’t even drunk enough to blame your actions on inebriation, and you almost felt embarrassed how quickly you gave in. But, when a man like Steve Rogers asks you if you wanna go back to his place, you say yes.

It definitely helped that you and him spoke until the restaurant kicked you out. He was so easy to talk to, curious and attentive. You wondered if he was as generous during sex, not knowing you would find out a couple hours later that yes, he was.

“You can give me one more,” he nearly growled into your neck as he tried to pull another orgasm from your overwrought core. It would be the fourth one of the night, and you were ready to pass out. The man had stamina.

“Steve, I don’t think-”

“Then don’t think,” he crooned before sucking another bruise onto the soft skin where your collarbone met your shoulder.

A calloused thumb began to tease your clit and within seconds, you were fluttering around him again.

“Oh God,” you keened and gasped when you felt warmth burst within you soon after, punctuated by a rough snap of Steve’s hips. The last thing you heard was Steve’s guttural groan, nearly beast like in its ferocity, but that made it all the more tantalizing. You hardly had time to contemplate it before exhaustion pulled you under.

Steve admired your sleeping form before pulling out with a grunt. The way his cum leaked from your swollen cunt had him wanting to take you again. He let you rest, though. There'd be more time for that when you woke up.

Gingerly, he cleaned you as best he could and settled next to you, draping an arm around your shoulders and pulling you closer so your head rested on his chest.

His phone buzzed, rattling his nightstand, and he picked it up.

A message from Bucky flashed across the screen.

What do you want me to do with him?

Steve sighed, not wanting to ruin the moment. You were finally in his bed and arms, something he’d been waiting for.

Make sure he won’t remember a thing, knock him out, and leave him in the alleyway between the deli and bakery on 11th.

Then what?

Take his wallet, make it look like a mugging, make sure someone calls an ambulance.

He didn’t want Jeremy dead, just gone. After all, he saw you first, weeks ago when the magazine you worked for did a piece on him.

Most of his adult life was spent fighting or at least trying to. He knew no one asked him to be a soldier, it was his choice, and he was happy to do it. He thought the man who wanted a simple life died when he went under the ice, and he relegated himself to a life where the fight never ended.

Then he saw you. The way you warmly greeted everyone at your office, enthusiastically volunteered whenever someone needed help. The interview only lasted a few hours, and within that time, you had completely captivated him with your sweet smile and nurturing soul. You hadn’t even said a single word to him.

After all he did for the world, he deserved you.

It was easy enough to scare off the more interested matches on that tacky dating app you’d installed, but Jeremy somehow slipped through the cracks.

Steve used that to his advantage. You were a little sensitive, he found in the weeks he watched you. Insecure, but you had no reason to be. As much as he didn't want to hurt you, being stood up would leave you vulnerable, ready to be swept away.

It worked, and you were finally his.

You shifted a little in your sleep, nuzzling your face against his skin. He leaned down to kiss your cheek, appreciating the warmth that radiated off you.

Now that he had you, he was never letting you go.

He made sure of it.

A warm hand gently pressed on your stomach. Steve was a thorough man. He had replaced your birth control weeks ago, when you weren't home. If it didn’t take tonight, he’d fuck you until it did.

Crucible - Ch 14

It was fortunate the horse knew where to go, because you had kept your head down, entirely focused on not falling to the ground at the dangerous speed.

It was also fortunate the guards heard the thundering of hooves and came out to slow the animal down, calming her with soothing voices and grabbing for the reins before she could trample anyone.

“Who’s there?”

“That’s Master Link’s horse!”

“You’re right, but is that—Master Link, is that you?”

The guards peered up at you, some with torches in their hands, and you were panting too hard to speak, mind a confused whirl as you were torn between warning them and shrinking back, the Akkala guards fresh in your mind.

“No—I, I’m not, I’m—Link needs help! He’s fighting a… Stal…”

The guards glanced at each other, brows crooked or raised.

“Stalnox!” you cried out in frustration. “Headed this way! Three of them!”
