I had the heartbreaking revelation that Hizashi can blame himself for... all the hero deaths in the war arc.

Previously, I thought that Hizashi could realistically blame himself for what happened to Aizawa (himself being the reason Aizawa was there in the first place) and Midnight (being away at the police station instead of fighting) but he can blame himself for ALL the hero deaths.

Hear me out. He was in the front lines to destroy the incubation chamber for Shigaraki. That was his one job. He did break the chamber, yes, but Tomura still got up. The moment he broke the incubation chamber was also the moment the doctor went to wake him up. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT HIZASHI JUST WASN'T FAST ENOUGH and it isn't hard to believe that.

The main cause of death in the arc was Shigaraki's decay, because he woke up. Hizashi failed.

Now imagine, Hizashi replaying that day over and over and over again while waiting for Aizawa to wake up. Imagine him remembering that split moment and everything comes crumbling. He failed everyone.

He. Wasn't. Enough.

And so many more people were hurt and... he's sitting there...

Unharmed and perfectly fine.
