Zapp laid in bed, staring at the glowing rectangle in his hand. He should do something about Raju dating his drinking buddy. They couldn't possibly know how dangerous he is, that this "sweet" Raju was just a front.
Sure, dating was just putting up a front. But Zapp felt that Raju was just straight up lying to them. And that pissed the silver-haired man right the hell off. Especially since Raju could probably lie to them for their whole life and never reveal the true -sshole he really is.

[Y/N]: Your entire inner monolog.
Zapp snickered. There were probably plenty of people who felt that way about him too. At least they still had some game...with memes.

[Y/N]: You don't have to tell me that, dumb-ss
Zapp smirked. Then wondered if they were even... He didn't want to think about it, but if they were. Well, Zapp wouldn't be able to look at his drinking buddy the same.
Zapp sighed, laying his phone face down on the bed. He would worry about that later. Maybe try talking some sense into them in person.

You were trying to ignore the dark clouds outside the window all day. Of course it would rain the day you didn't have your umbrella on hand. If you could make it home before it---
Nope, the rain started up shortly after lunch. And sadly, it wasn't stopping or even letting up anytime soon. Your restlessness about this had been spotted by Klaus. While it was fairly easy for him to watch you glance outside with a frown, he hesitated in offering to walk you home.
He had a crush on you to be sure, but walking together under an umbrella felt like it was far too romantic to be an innocent gesture. Even if his mentality was contradictory to the reality of the situation, he still had to worry about the fact that he would be leaned over... very close to your face, the whole time.
The mental image had Klaus blushing, trying to hide his face when he should have been trying to hide his ears.
You took a deep breath as the elevator door opened, about to walk head first into this rain storm without any real plan of action. When...
"[Name], please hold the elevator!"
Your foot jut out in between the closing doors, holding it for a second to let Klaus enter. It had to be a coincidence he was coming this way, given you knew the garage entrance was elsewhere. Maybe Gilbert had been running errands.
"Thank you [Name]." Klaus was past the point of no return, just have to say it, "I wasn't aware you had already taken off before I could grab my umbrella."
"Don't mention it Klaus." You smiled a little, ignoring the pounding in your ears, "I don't think I've ever seen you walk home though. Not that its a bad thing! I just..."
Oh great, here you were blowing everything. It wasn't like your crush on Klaus had been that subtle, but somehow Klaus hadn't picked up on it at all.
"Oh, yes." Klaus was twisting the umbrella a little in his hands, "I usually wouldn't, except I needed Gilbert to run a few errands and thought walking would be a little faster than simply waiting for him at the office. My timing could use a little work though I suppose."
The two of you shared a slightly nervous giggle. Though Klaus was able to play off why he was here, for now, there wasn't much time left to ask before you two would be facing the rain.
Klaus cleared his throat, attempting to do so quietly, "Incidentally [Name], I've noticed you don't seem to have your umbrella. If you'd be comfortable with it, I could walk with you?"
"Oh, yeah." You were staring at your feet, of course Klaus would pick up that, "Uh...I wouldn't want you going out of your way for me. I'll be fine on my own."
"Are you sure?" Klaus leaned forward a little, "I assure you it isn't out of my way. I'd hate to hear you got sick when I could have helped you avoid it."
You were trying to hide how you'd turn red as his hair, but your voice was too squeaky and high-pitched. The traitor.
"Oh, um... well, if you're sure. Then uh, yeah. I'd be okay with you walking with me."
Klaus straightened up, concerned he was doing something wrong. Placing a hand on your shoulder, "I don't mean to push my presence [Name]. I don't mind lending you my umbrella. I could always wait here for Gilbert."
"Uh no!" You head popped up suddenly, "That...I wasn't trying to be like that. I just...well, it's kinda. Um...I really don't mind you walking with me. Honest."
Klaus seemed to be studying your face. What was he thinking? Could he see through your thinly veiled attempts to avoid confessing? Why was he so bloody handsome?
"If you're certain [Name], then I'll gladly accompany you."
That soft smile, barely noticeable as the corners of his mouth rose, made you weak in the knee. A feeling only made worse with how closely the two of you had to tuck together to fit under his umbrella.
Sure, it was a large umbrella for a large man, but he was tall. Klaus didn't mind half crouching to make sure you didn't get too soaked by the rain. Having you hold onto his arm so you wouldn't slip or get left behind by his longer stride, he felt like he burst into flame any second now.
While the two of you were trying to give each other personal space, you couldn't help but be hyper-aware of how close he was. The warmth he emanated, the smell of his aftershave... or was that cologne?... It was all a little overwhelming. Your resolve felt like crumbling under that umbrella. But would this be the right time to confess?
The city seemed so peaceful, filled with a different kind of magic as you strolled through it. Arm and arm with Klaus, your mind raced with terribly selfish thoughts about dating him. Would he think less of you for confessing after such an act of kindness? He was surely doing this out of his own desires to protect his friends.
That word stung, and you had no reason to be so stung by it.
However, Klaus was equally enamored with you. Thinking about how good you smelled, how close you were, how he would love to be more romantic with you. Even if it did end up being just friends going out for a pastry, he wanted to do something other than walk you home. And the idea that it was selfish to think that way, to want more of this arrangement, tore at him.
But, you made it home in one piece, thankful for the small porch. Klaus able to stand up properly under his umbrella and look up at you on the steps. He somewhat lamented your hand retreating from his arm, but knew he couldn't do anything about it. Unless...
"Thank you Klaus." You smiled at him, "I really appreciate you walking me home."
"Of course [Name], it was my pleasure."
Klaus's heart skipped a beat. He didn't even register that he had reached for your hand, let alone you putting your hand in his. Though Klaus didn't hesitate to press a gentle kiss to your knuckles.
And with that simple gesture, the two of you devolved into stammering, blushing messes. Klaus attempting to apologize for being so forward while you attempted to reassure him that it was fine.
"I really don't mind." You hit the corner, time to come clean, "Honestly."
Klaus knew to believe you but, "I shouldn't have been so forward [Name]. The last thing I want to do is force anything. I know my manners are quite..."
He fell silent as you beckoned him forward, then immediately reached up to make sure you didn't fall over the railing you leaned over. While you weren't even sure this was the right time, or the right message, you knew that a kiss to the back of the hand wasn't manners. It was meant to be a sweet, softly romantic gesture.
Klaus was fuming when you pressed a kiss to his cheek.
"Th-there." You leaned back up, "Now we're even...on making awkward moves to each other."
Klaus couldn't speak, still processing that you did that. But very glad that you had.
"Per-perhaps we could discuss this later on?" Klaus finally managed to look back up at you, "Over diner? Tomorrow night?"
Calamity [Zapp x Reader]
![Calamity [Zapp X Reader]](https://64.media.tumblr.com/99d9a4e67cd0c50cb3758ec3b2563829/9d1bec8580b8ac53-ba/s500x750/3c282d0d5bcd0444d047340ea4d6f326b0e52e4c.gif)
Damn he was getting to good at this. Now to just make sure his sexy, bad-ss lover saw him.
Zapp dropped his lighter, seeing that dark stain in your chest. The burn marks around the open wound and you holding the blood sword... his blood sword... A few inches away from your chest.
Zapp couldn't tell if he was frozen to the spot or moving to your side. Either way, he fell to his knees before you could hit the ground. Cradling your limp body close.
F-ck, f-ck. This was his fault. And who knows how long it would take for you to heal. Regardless, he didn't leave the hospital until he saw you.
God he wished he had left.
Seeing you strapped up to all these machines was harrowing. Knowing it was his fault you were in here. Zapp had to remind himself not to curl up in the bed with you because all these tubes and wires were keeping you alive.
Zapp had to ease his frustration somehow. Eight months of absolute efficient fighting and spending his nights at your bed side had him torn up, badly. He couldn't take the guilt knowing he did this to you. But he also couldn't stay away, not after everything you went through together.
"Mr. Renfro." Zapp looked up at the tiny doc, "I'm afraid there isn't anything more we can do for them. We have to pull the plug tomorrow. I can at least give you enough time to say your final words, but..."
Zapp nodded. Borderline anger across his face as he looked at you. He stood up, unable to face this reality anymore.
But booze tasted like sh-t and there wasn't a single person who could take your place tonight. Instead, Zapp laid in bed, waiting for sleep to take him. For that same dream... that same nightmare... to invade his thoughts. One where you didn't even make it to the hospital, instead erupting into flames.
Zapp was tired of the constant reminders from everyone to go to the hospital. He didn't want to see them pull the plug. If he stayed away, that tiny doc said, then maybe if he stayed away, you could...
Dr. Estevez hung up from the voice mailbox. She couldn't delay this forever. And if Zapp wasn't coming in, then well, she had no other choice.
She nodded at Dr. Gunther. The cold beep of the machines hurt her, hurt them all. This had to be the worst part of the job.
Zapp came in the next day, wanting to see you again. Half convinced his absence had helped. But, Dr. Estevez handed him the paperwork showing time of death and they're final recorded state of health.
"I... no..." Zapp didn't want to admit to it, "They... can't..."
"You can sit in the room if that would help?"
Zapp sat in the empty room. Shaking hands going through his hair and salty, bitter, hot tears pooling on the floor. This had been his fault, even the breathless apologies were too little too late. He just wanted you back... he give anything for it really.
This Incident [Klaus x Reader]
![This Incident [Klaus X Reader]](https://64.media.tumblr.com/3eebed5bd2c7507160a7302cb815935c/70089e315c528570-2c/s500x750/5dd90456531833c59be691d4f9b195f043638698.gif)
Walking into the office with a small potted plant for Klaus, you were 98% certain you loved him and 132% certain he had better options.
And completely expecting him to turn you down because of how long it took. Likely already in a relationship with someone else. Not that you could blame him for moving on.
However, you barely had a chance to approach his desk and get his attention to set the poinsettia on his desk when something happened.
It felt like a bomb going off. And while you only hit your knee against Klaus's desk, the chaos outside was only just beginning. Klaus was up, first instinct to ask if you were okay before moving for the door. Steven wasn't too far behind, nor were you.
■■■
"17 hours since this fog started ripping this city to hell." Steven was just talking to keep himself calm, "And it doesn't look like the chaos is gonna let up any time soon. Christ"
You were a bit more focused on the debris floating around, trying to discern some kind of pattern. And you didn't realize you weren't the only one.
Steven had to turn, not that anything caught his eye in particular. Just wanting to see how Klaus was holding up, mostly. His eye also wandered back towards you and you met his curious gaze by spinning a finger pointed skyward. You knew words would fail you. All this was making you sick and you had voiced that long ago.
Steven nodded and turned his attention to Klaus again, who was flipping through a tourist guide book.
"Pretty sure that guide's lost its use. In case you haven't noticed, most of the buildings aren't where they were yesterday."
"I'm using it to identify the buildings floating past." Klaus answered, nose still buried in his book, "It's helping me to assess the destruction. That was the GE building we drove beneath earlier."
You tried peeking over Klaus's shoulder, but couldn't trust yourself to not hurl into his lap. Either it was the odd gravitational forces, or just second hand vertigo, but you really just needed to keep your mouth shut until this feeling passed.
"Are you really trying to pinpoint every building we pass?" Steven sounded somewhat annoyed and also... bemused, "You're treating the apocalypse like a tourist trap."
You tried holding your stomach in for a minute, "Has there been any kind of pattern to the buildings floating around?"
Klaus turned, upset that you were forcing yourself to speak when you looked sick. Like you would throw up any second now.
"Unfortunately no." Klaus returned to his book, "Not one that any specific area has shown."
"We should also be thinking big picture." Steven added, "Suppose the entire world is shrouded in this fog. If that's the case, then what?"
"I have no idea." Klaus bowed his head with his grave tone.
Steven matched his grim tone, "Whatever this is, I'm not sure our monster fighting days have--!"
You didn't wait for the jeep to stop, and you couldn't trust yourself to speak much. Just cleanly leapt out of the back seat and hit the ground running.
Steven pulled to stop quickly, but your eyes were focused on a point in front of you. And dashed for it without thinking to say anything to your companions.
"[Name]! What's gotten into you!?" Steven yelled, "You didn't need to jump out like that!"
You hit your knee next to a screaming infant, Klaus and Steven running up, not too far behind you. Not like you outstripped them because you were somehow faster.
You had tried warming your hands before gently reaching between the swaddling blanket wrapped around the baby girl. Slowly checking for any kind of injury, at first her cries got louder as you made sure it would be okay to lift her.
"Is she injured?" Klaus had knelt next to you.
"No, at least, not that I can feel." You turned your eyes to scan for a diaper bag, a stroller, something other than what looked like the infant's mother, "Though it would probably be best if you held her."
You stood up, eye catching on a strap not too far off, "Given how cold it is, and that I have been having problems with this...motion sickness?"
"Of course." Klaus lifted the tiny bundle without a second thought, "Though you shouldn't have leapt from the jeep like that."
"We don't have the luxury of worry about ourselves right now." You dug out a decent diaper bag that looked like it belonged to the baby, "There are people who need us to be strong. They're lost, scared, and have absolutely no idea what's going on. We have a little knowledge because we're hunters. So we fight and remain strong. Plain and simple."
Klaus couldn't believe how naturally that came from you, but he absolutely adored it. Steven felt like he was now dealing with two of Klaus.
"So then, our best course of action is to find this infant shelter." Klaus waited for you walk in step, "And gather more information as we go."
"Sounds good." Steven sighed, "But what's with the bag?"
"Might help until we find shelter." You looked at both in turn, "Since we don't know how long that'll be."
And like that, the three of you were off again. You had found a pacifier and three bottles of formula, and a couple bottles of water, in the diaper bag. Those absolutely kept the baby girl calm and fed.
"That appears to be Bradbury General Hospital." Klaus looked up, "Though it would seem that only the central building is left."
Steven pulled up within walking distance. The three of you certainly looked odd. The largest man holding a baby and you holding the diaper bag. Though at least you were admitted to the interior. A nurse claimed the baby and diaper bag while Steven explained what he could. Your odd-set motion sickness had followed you inside. And even trying to tell the doctors what was going on didn't help.
This was a medical situation they couldn't do anything for since it was literally a condition brought on only a few hours prior. 7 by now, to be exact.
Uncertainty [Klaus x Reader]
![Uncertainty [Klaus X Reader]](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4aa3d2ebc7173832cf913ac4f379d591/b0aa29d4bdd486ce-89/s500x750/2685db401474d4521d37100930bf6bfed464be88.gif)
You stood there blinking. You heard Klaus correctly, didn't you? He was in love with you, of all people he liked you...
"Uh... I..." You struggled to find the right words, "Please don't take this the wrong way, but... I don't know if I feel the same about you."
You somehow managed to look up at Klaus, worried he would be upset at you. It wasn't like he asked a week after, he had waited five months to say anything. But his face was unreadable. Should you...talk more?
You cleared your throat, "Um, what I mean is that I don't want to rush into this without knowing how I feel. I just got use to being around you as a friend. I don't want to risk jeopardizing that because I didn't actually feel the same way. You know?"
Klaus focused on your eyes. That sound of uneasy and doubtfulness. Yet what he was hearing was exactly how he felt these past months. And Klaus couldn't blame you for wanting to take your time figuring this out.
"Of course [Name]." He pressed a respectful kiss to your knuckles, "I understand where you're coming from. I don't mind waiting to for you to figure it out for yourself. I sincerely want you to take all the time you may need for this."
You felt terrible for rejecting Klaus like that. Even if it wasn't a real rejection. But you hadn't been thinking about that at all. You honestly believed Klaus could do better. That he'd be happier with someone else.
Regardless of how similar you two were.
And you stewed over that, making sure that what you wanted was Klaus's happiness over your own. Considering the confession on it's own had blind-sided you with an unexpected rush of joy and longing.
It didn't even register how long you were making Klaus wait. Not that you thought he'd wait around forever. But before you knew it, it was December. And you barely had an answer.
What was he going to think? Had he already given up on you? He definitely deserved better than you.

This little angsty fic was requested by anonymous 😢
You thought about the woman beside you in the car. Drunk from another night with her coworkers and adorably singing with the radio. Chain was completely off key and wiggling in her seat like a small child. She really was bad about drinking too much. But you didn't mind. She was just unwinding from this crazy city.
And you couldn't help but join in a little as you drove.
Chain was very good at distracting you tho, not fully seeing the speeding vehicle coming around the corner. Chain's sharp gasp was punctuated by your own as you jerked the wheel.
You didn't really know how, but it felt like a hand passed through yours. And it hurt. Sadly, the low wall of the railing was more than enough to crash the car. Airbags deploying and knocking you right out.
Chain panicked, the situation sobering her completely as she half freaked out. Moving you into the passenger seat so she could take the blame for the crash. Then calling for a ambulance.
All she could do was wait. Soft whimpers escaped her as she brushed your hair out of your face. She had tried taking you with her using her powers. But that didn't help, Chain heard your gasp and knew what it meant.
Next time she would just call a cab or something. Being fielded into the hospital and allowed to sit in the room with you while you recovered was all she could do right now. Hiding from what she felt was completely her fault.
If she hadn't gone out drinking tonight, you wouldn't be hurt after all.
