You were trying to ignore the dark clouds outside the window all day. Of course it would rain the day you didn't have your umbrella on hand. If you could make it home before it---
Nope, the rain started up shortly after lunch. And sadly, it wasn't stopping or even letting up anytime soon. Your restlessness about this had been spotted by Klaus. While it was fairly easy for him to watch you glance outside with a frown, he hesitated in offering to walk you home.
He had a crush on you to be sure, but walking together under an umbrella felt like it was far too romantic to be an innocent gesture. Even if his mentality was contradictory to the reality of the situation, he still had to worry about the fact that he would be leaned over... very close to your face, the whole time.
The mental image had Klaus blushing, trying to hide his face when he should have been trying to hide his ears.
You took a deep breath as the elevator door opened, about to walk head first into this rain storm without any real plan of action. When...
"[Name], please hold the elevator!"
Your foot jut out in between the closing doors, holding it for a second to let Klaus enter. It had to be a coincidence he was coming this way, given you knew the garage entrance was elsewhere. Maybe Gilbert had been running errands.
"Thank you [Name]." Klaus was past the point of no return, just have to say it, "I wasn't aware you had already taken off before I could grab my umbrella."
"Don't mention it Klaus." You smiled a little, ignoring the pounding in your ears, "I don't think I've ever seen you walk home though. Not that its a bad thing! I just..."
Oh great, here you were blowing everything. It wasn't like your crush on Klaus had been that subtle, but somehow Klaus hadn't picked up on it at all.
"Oh, yes." Klaus was twisting the umbrella a little in his hands, "I usually wouldn't, except I needed Gilbert to run a few errands and thought walking would be a little faster than simply waiting for him at the office. My timing could use a little work though I suppose."
The two of you shared a slightly nervous giggle. Though Klaus was able to play off why he was here, for now, there wasn't much time left to ask before you two would be facing the rain.
Klaus cleared his throat, attempting to do so quietly, "Incidentally [Name], I've noticed you don't seem to have your umbrella. If you'd be comfortable with it, I could walk with you?"
"Oh, yeah." You were staring at your feet, of course Klaus would pick up that, "Uh...I wouldn't want you going out of your way for me. I'll be fine on my own."
"Are you sure?" Klaus leaned forward a little, "I assure you it isn't out of my way. I'd hate to hear you got sick when I could have helped you avoid it."
You were trying to hide how you'd turn red as his hair, but your voice was too squeaky and high-pitched. The traitor.
"Oh, um... well, if you're sure. Then uh, yeah. I'd be okay with you walking with me."
Klaus straightened up, concerned he was doing something wrong. Placing a hand on your shoulder, "I don't mean to push my presence [Name]. I don't mind lending you my umbrella. I could always wait here for Gilbert."
"Uh no!" You head popped up suddenly, "That...I wasn't trying to be like that. I just...well, it's kinda. Um...I really don't mind you walking with me. Honest."
Klaus seemed to be studying your face. What was he thinking? Could he see through your thinly veiled attempts to avoid confessing? Why was he so bloody handsome?
"If you're certain [Name], then I'll gladly accompany you."
That soft smile, barely noticeable as the corners of his mouth rose, made you weak in the knee. A feeling only made worse with how closely the two of you had to tuck together to fit under his umbrella.
Sure, it was a large umbrella for a large man, but he was tall. Klaus didn't mind half crouching to make sure you didn't get too soaked by the rain. Having you hold onto his arm so you wouldn't slip or get left behind by his longer stride, he felt like he burst into flame any second now.
While the two of you were trying to give each other personal space, you couldn't help but be hyper-aware of how close he was. The warmth he emanated, the smell of his aftershave... or was that cologne?... It was all a little overwhelming. Your resolve felt like crumbling under that umbrella. But would this be the right time to confess?
The city seemed so peaceful, filled with a different kind of magic as you strolled through it. Arm and arm with Klaus, your mind raced with terribly selfish thoughts about dating him. Would he think less of you for confessing after such an act of kindness? He was surely doing this out of his own desires to protect his friends.
That word stung, and you had no reason to be so stung by it.
However, Klaus was equally enamored with you. Thinking about how good you smelled, how close you were, how he would love to be more romantic with you. Even if it did end up being just friends going out for a pastry, he wanted to do something other than walk you home. And the idea that it was selfish to think that way, to want more of this arrangement, tore at him.
But, you made it home in one piece, thankful for the small porch. Klaus able to stand up properly under his umbrella and look up at you on the steps. He somewhat lamented your hand retreating from his arm, but knew he couldn't do anything about it. Unless...
"Thank you Klaus." You smiled at him, "I really appreciate you walking me home."
"Of course [Name], it was my pleasure."
Klaus's heart skipped a beat. He didn't even register that he had reached for your hand, let alone you putting your hand in his. Though Klaus didn't hesitate to press a gentle kiss to your knuckles.
And with that simple gesture, the two of you devolved into stammering, blushing messes. Klaus attempting to apologize for being so forward while you attempted to reassure him that it was fine.
"I really don't mind." You hit the corner, time to come clean, "Honestly."
Klaus knew to believe you but, "I shouldn't have been so forward [Name]. The last thing I want to do is force anything. I know my manners are quite..."
He fell silent as you beckoned him forward, then immediately reached up to make sure you didn't fall over the railing you leaned over. While you weren't even sure this was the right time, or the right message, you knew that a kiss to the back of the hand wasn't manners. It was meant to be a sweet, softly romantic gesture.
Klaus was fuming when you pressed a kiss to his cheek.
"Th-there." You leaned back up, "Now we're even...on making awkward moves to each other."
Klaus couldn't speak, still processing that you did that. But very glad that you had.
"Per-perhaps we could discuss this later on?" Klaus finally managed to look back up at you, "Over diner? Tomorrow night?"

You thought about the woman beside you in the car. Drunk from another night with her coworkers and adorably singing with the radio. Chain was completely off key and wiggling in her seat like a small child. She really was bad about drinking too much. But you didn't mind. She was just unwinding from this crazy city.
And you couldn't help but join in a little as you drove.
Chain was very good at distracting you tho, not fully seeing the speeding vehicle coming around the corner. Chain's sharp gasp was punctuated by your own as you jerked the wheel.
You didn't really know how, but it felt like a hand passed through yours. And it hurt. Sadly, the low wall of the railing was more than enough to crash the car. Airbags deploying and knocking you right out.
Chain panicked, the situation sobering her completely as she half freaked out. Moving you into the passenger seat so she could take the blame for the crash. Then calling for a ambulance.
All she could do was wait. Soft whimpers escaped her as she brushed your hair out of your face. She had tried taking you with her using her powers. But that didn't help, Chain heard your gasp and knew what it meant.
Next time she would just call a cab or something. Being fielded into the hospital and allowed to sit in the room with you while you recovered was all she could do right now. Hiding from what she felt was completely her fault.
If she hadn't gone out drinking tonight, you wouldn't be hurt after all.
Bait [Klaus x Reader]

Zapp looked down at the ring. Hell he got lucky with this. Ozmaldo seemed to know you on sight. You could hold your own around here because you trained here regularly. That would make it f-cking easy to lure the Chief here. Zapp knew that just saying he was in trouble would have worked, but you being here might as well be a Christmas gift. Chief would be here in no time.
Klaus was a very predictable man, holding onto Leo's scooter while the younger man drove. While he could fight all manner of demon, monster, and blood breed, Klaus found it nearly impossible to confess his embarrassing crush on you. Everyone in the office could see it plain as day, except yourself.
But from what Zapp said, you were currently being forced to fight to the death in order to keep him and yourself from being killed by a mobster that owned a boxing ring. And Klaus was certainly going to see that you were safe, and helped. He would take your place as soon as he could. Klaus just had to make it to the fighting ring.
Leo was about 96% sure Zapp was bluffing. Either he had made up the whole story and it was just him in trouble. Or this would be an ambush. The only wrench in either of those was you not being at the office. You had a day off so who knew where you were.
But Klaus nearly gave the poor boy a heart attack knocking the front doorman back with a single punch. Leo thought the other guy was going to die, no one gets between Klaus and rescuing his friends. Especially when it was you on the line.
Klaus was not the least bit curious about what was going on around him right now. He needed to focus on finding where you were and getting there immediately.
Though, before he could start his way to the ring, the most likely place you'd be at. Klaus found himself lifted by the crowd and passed all the way down to the side of the ring. Was... Were they trying to help?
Klaus readjusted and looked up, having to duck back a little as a large Beyondian suddenly hit the ropes and was flung forward from the force. Then, out of seemingly nowhere, you pounced forward, catching the Beyondian around his neck and slamming them against the mat. Klaus knew your opponent was nearly four times your height and weight, but you didn't seem distressed in the slightest. Raising both arms like a professional boxer.
"[Name]!?" Klaus was holding himself back from climbing in the ring, "What's going on?"
You looked, not believing that you'd ever hear Klaus's voice here, "What are you doing here? I never told anyone about this."
"Ladies and Gentlemen! Tonight for one night only! The Libra Power Couple! Prepare for a night of 2 on 2 fights here at E-den!"
You turned back to the small robot announcer, raising an eyebrow.
"Don't be shy! We have a very special guest! Klaus von Reinherz! A very powerful duo with our own, very popular [Name]!"
The crowd erupted into cheers. Klaus was hesitant but felt he understood some of what was going on as he climbed up over the ropes. He still turned to you to ask some questions.
"[Name], what is this? What's going on here?"
"I don't know about this." You gestured at the robot announcer, "But I come here every so often to train. The opponents put up a hell of a fight and as long as I can hold my own, there isn't any danger. Go for a knockout even though they go for the kill."
Klaus was quite impressed, "And have you seen Zapp?"
"What?" You looked up at Klaus, even more confused, "Is Zapp here? I've been here in the ring this whole time."
Klaus was a little troubled. Had they not explained the situation?
"Listen, we do have Zapp. But if you two can keep the crowd entertained, then he'll walk free." The robot held his hand over the mic, "And [Name], you already know this, but we need you to drop all weapons. Absolutely no surprise weapons. Its one of our few rules."
While Klaus rarely removed his knuckleduster, if it was a part of the rules then he would do so. Dropping the heirloom on the mat, at least for a second before you scooped it up. Klaus was confused, until you hung it with what seemed to be your own things on one of the posts. That would be good at least.
But to Klaus's surprise, and somewhat his delight, you were more than capable of keeping pace with him on fights. This was quite different from your normal fighting style, but it was a relief to see you be more than capable in hand to hand combat.
Though Klaus had to try and ignore the intrusive thoughts of seeing you wearing a tank top. Sweating and panting. How nimble and flexible you were. Klaus is a gentleman, he shouldn't be thinking this way! Especially in the middle of fighting matches like this. He couldn't even confess, he had no right having such inappropriate thoughts about you.
"Klaus, catch."
Turning towards you showed Klaus why you said catch. The water bottle you tossed his way was much colder than he thought. And very much appreciated. The water was gone in a few sips and Klaus was a little surprised the officials were allowing a small break between matches at all. But you knew that even Ozmaldo wouldn't begrudge a water break to whoever could fight multiple rounds in a row. Hell, Oz wouldn't stop anyone from doing something they needed to do, it was a surefire way to be hit with a lawsuit and be discovered. Things Oz would avoid at all costs.
What you weren't expecting was Ozmaldo himself to leap into the ring. It had been quite some time since you'd seen him face to face. And something was off. Something was very off. But you couldn't put your finger on what. Maybe it was how his face muscles weren't moving much despite how much he was talking. Or it could be how that scar seemed a little too deep. And while neither you nor Klaus smelled like roses right now, Oz smelled like he just crawled out of a morgue and sprayed cologne to cover it up.
But, before you could tell Klaus any of this, "I will fight you myself sir. I'm certain [Name] has been here longer and is in need of some rest."
You wanted to tell Klaus what you had on your mind, but the stupid little tin chicken was shooing you out of the ring. And you couldn't just shout at Klaus, not this kind of stuff. Instead, you basically forced to watch the fight ring side.
And just like you thought, Klaus punched his head clean off to reveal a blood breed in the middle. Controlling Ozmaldo's body as it's puppet. You couldn't seal a blood breed and Klaus couldn't get to his knuckleduster in time. Zapp would absolutely pay for this. Literally all of this was his fault.
You used your own blood ability to fashion a ladder so Klaus could get down safely. Gathering your things and making sure you didn't leave anything unresolved, you were the last of the group to exit the fight club.
Even seeing Zapp sucking up to Klaus, you smacked the back of his head hard and refused to elaborate. Meanwhile, you lead Klaus to where your car was. If Leo wanted, you had some cables to put his scooter on the top of the car. And you could let Zapp ride along as well, so he wouldn't be able to ruin anyone else's night.
FLUFF 3 FOR KLAUS PLEEEEEEASE
Fluff 3! Klaus gives his S/O a piggy back ride.
Klaus was usually so reserved that seeing him kicking up fresh raked leaves seemed so bizarre. But you couldn't help but think he was so adorable in doing so. While you knew sneaking up on him was pointless, you still wanted to try.
And somehow it worked?! You jumped onto his back. Though, not without getting trapped by Klaus catching your knees. You were trapped now. You had a sneaking suspicion he let you do this, especially when he took off on a brisk jog.
Klaus was just enjoying your laughter as he jogged around the yard. The leaves could wait a little longer surely.
Unfortunately, you were suddenly tumbling off Klaus's back, he had tripped on a low root. You scrambled to make sure Klaus was okay when your ears registered a noise you hadn't heard from Klaus before. He was...laughing!? It was a soft, deep noise since Klaus was trying not to frighten you. But he eased that restraint as he had so many others, joining you in joyous laughter.

"Finally!" Deldro laughed, "We can get out!"
Dog followed behind Klaus. This wasn't about Aligula, Libra just needed his help. And he was more than happy to oblige. Whatever this was would be over with quickly and be free for a couple hours.
Maybe he could have a little time with you.
But this was taking a bit longer than Dog liked. He really did want to see you for a little time. But this was very serious business. A blood breed was very difficult situation to deal with. And with all the things he was throwing around, it was hard to keep up with things.
Then he was pulled to the side by Klaus and Steven. Both looked very solemn. Sure he would have to go to the prison soon, but they wouldn't cart him off before at least a few minutes, right?
"Dog, listen. I got a call a few seconds ago that [Name] is in the hospital." Steven said, "That a statue had fallen and caught them on its way down. They will make a full recovery, but right now they aren't awake."
Dog panicked. When did this happen? Where were they? He could have stopped the statue from falling. And Deldro in his head wasn't helping. Telling him they would likely be so roughed up and bloody they might not be recognizable.
Dog was sitting at your bedside. He could tell you weren't very hurt, but a concussion and some minor injuries that could have been avoided. If he had known where, he could have helped. Protected you in some way.
Klaus put his arm and leg across the door, "Please, Warden Alice. Just a few more minutes. They're very important to Dog. And Deldro is under strict supervision at the moment. Just a few minutes."
Alice stopped, huffing and folding her arms, "Very well. But only because they're cornered in here."
Klaus eased up, trusting her words. Dog could hear everything and just choose to ignore them. Focusing on your sleeping face, because that was all you were doing right now. He gently brushed the hair back from your brow and looking over the small scratches. He must have done this. Had something to do with this.
He stood up, knowing he couldn't stay here forever. Dog leaned over and kissed your cheek gently. He would have to go peacefully with the warden and let you rest. Hopefully Warden Alice would let him call when you woke up. Steven or Klaus would let him know, of course they would. Both knew how much you meant to him.

For once, Zapp's head wasn't pounding when he woke up. Just a series of fading images that seemed a little too dark to even remember. But there was a weight on his shoulder.
And when he looked over, a small smile curled his lips. You laying half across his chest, both splayed over the covers. That's why he didn't wake up with a headache. You were somehow very good at reigning in his worst habits.
Zapp let his head fall back against the pillows, this was nice. He could get use to this. Though, he couldn't stop his stomach growling. Nor could he help that it woke you.
But damn were you cute as f-ck with your hair all messed up like that. Plus that sleepy eyed half awake expression.
Oh no, Zapp could tell he was getting soft. He was getting attached to you. It wasn't the first time he felt like this around you, not by a long shot. But how he was thinking clashed so damn heavily with his usual personality that it was wonder he hadn't driven you off by now.
That didn't stop Zapp from staring at your -ss while you got dressed. He would still be Zapp and check you out constantly. It was just... well, he couldn't figure out why you stuck around after the freak outs over him getting too close. Knowing you were somehow more his than anyone else's, made him just a little weird.
Until you threw a shirt at him, "You gonna stare or do you wanna go get some breakfast?"
"Who says I can't do both?"
"The bear in your stomach for one."
Zapp threw a pillow at you, "Oh, suddenly you're an expert huh? Maybe my stomach was growling cause you look like a snacc."
"Uh huh." You rolled your eyes and threw the pillow back, nailing Zapp in the chest, "Cannibal."
Zapp was up on his feet in a flash, arms tightly around you and playfully biting at your neck. He loved the sound of your laughing, which was why he kept nipping at you.
"Alright alright!" You were pushing away from Zapp, "Seriously, if we don't go now then it'll be burgers for breakfast."
"You say that like it's a bad thing."
You stuck your tongue out at Zapp, but that just resulted in him pouncing again. Pinning you to the bed playfully and kissing you. Heck it was like dating an over excitable puppy. You couldn't fight him much though, his stomach was doing that for you.
