How Much Of A Language Barrier Did April & The Boys Have When They Met? Was It Similar To Having Really

How much of a “language barrier” did April & the boys have when they met? Was it similar to having really strong accents that are difficult to understand? If they were taught languages other than English, do you think some languages would be easier for people to understand from them, and some harder?

On a scale? 7/10. April hasn't really gotten out of New York much, even with its wide variety of people and cultures she wasn't exposed to many languages and accents. For her, the boys speech is equivalent to an American hearing English with a Scottish accent, so pretty bad. It took her time to understand that they are even speaking English. It seems very common with Americans, I'm not one myself the internet gave me the intel.

It was easiest conversing with Donnie, you could say his speech is the cleanest out of the four, also the reason why they bonded quicker. He was sort of the translator of her lol

The majority of the time Splinter spoke Japanese around them. I'd like to imagine most of the show when April is not around the are speaking Japanese with English being their second language learned from Splinter's shows, the internet, and the world above the sewers. By the age of 3 all of them knew Japanese, it sounded better then English and easier speak, by the age of five some catched up on their English.

Funnily enough this also forced April to start watching anime to try and learn Japanese XD

Yes, there would be languages that they'd speak better, like mainly throatal languages and languages with little to no Bilabial or Labiodental sounds.
