Can anyone be truly good when you’re all in hell? Well, Silver can sure try. But while the town’s curse may not affect him in any sort of physical way, everything else is fair game. How long can he play the hero before he finds that there’s nothing left worth protecting?

I drew this with my Devil Town AU in mind, but this can be viewed as a stand-alone piece. I used a more sketch-like art style this time… with the same type of nondescript background as always.

I read the post about Leona and Silver and now I'm curious what you think about this ship, can you elaborate more? I only found two fanarts about them, until then I had never thought about these characters together.

Sure!  Yeah, unfortunately, there’s hardly any content of them... this is admittedly a mega rarepair even for me, haha.  I love them mostly off the basis that their in-game interactions, while few and far in between, are absolutely hilarious.

To Leona, Silver is just this completely random second year from the dorm that he hates... who’s somehow wholeheartedly convinced that he’s best friends with the man that he hates.  Silver, on the other hand, seems to think of Leona as this paragon of sorts for his presumedly good-natured association with Malleus.  This infuriates Leona infinitely, to the point where he’d rather talk with his worst enemy than spend anymore time with his junior.  They shouldn’t work together in every regard... but that’s where it gets fun to imagine what it would be like if they did.

I think that as the two most lethargic characters of our Twisted Wonderland cast, they’re bound to run into each other around campus at some point—they’d make great unintentional napping buddies.  Imagine this: Leona knows all the best spots for hiding out and sleeping, and one day, Silver stumbles upon him in one of these locations; quickly succumbing to the peaceful atmosphere, he too ends up in a slumber and Leona has the worst wakeup call of his entire life.  However, even in the midst of his seething, he does have to admit that there’s a certain allure about the other boy—when he’s not opening his mouth and putting a foot in it.  Sadly, this moment doesn’t last long, and Silver is soon shaken awake to receive a furious berating... from which he never learns his lesson and these occasions repeat.

I think that the key factor in getting Leona to accept Silver’s presence would have to be him noticing the latter’s genuine kindness.  With his inferiority complex, sometimes it’s all too easy to get sucked into his own head and fixate on how awful everything seems.  However, with someone like Silver in his life, someone who’s always so ridiculously optimistic and content with his state of being, it shows him that there are indeed people who can live happily without feeling any of burdens.  And since Silver’s pleasant demeanor doesn’t manifest itself in the same relentlessly cheerful and perky manner that Kalim’s does, it’s a bit of an easier pill to swallow.  Though it may take some time, once he allows himself to lower his defenses ever so slightly, he will be able to follow the other boy’s example and start appreciating the little things as well.  If he somehow happens to find Silver’s constant efforts to talk to him in order be in good standing with Malleus’ “friend” far more endearing as the year goes on, that’s no one’s business but his own...

Meanwhile, Leona’s effortless strength and cunning starts off as a point of admiration for Silver.  Just as he is seemingly everything his upperclassman needs to be, Leona embodies many traits of the guard he wants to be.  And, on top of all that, he has Malleus’ recognition... So, Silver tries to get close.  On his end, it doesn’t seem too difficult, as he perceives many grounds for mutual understanding—their shared proficiency in physical activity, the inconveniences brought about by their inabilities to stay awake, and the people they often interact with.  Even in the face of Leona’s blatant distaste and irritation, he remains persistent; after all, as he once overheard Ruggie put it, he always sees the good in people—regardless of whether or not they can recognize it themselves.

Also, on another less serious note, it would be so funny if Silver’s animal-charming powers work on Leona and he keeps drifting toward the other without ever being able to figure out why.  If he doesn’t take the care to stay focused during his commutes between class, he’ll blink and find himself in a completely different hallway with, of course, Silver right there in front of him.  Every.  Single.  Damn.  Time.

So, to summarize my thoughts on this ship for you: Leona torture is hella fun :)

At first, the Octavinelle crew views Silver with strategic interest—as someone who’s so sincere, so naive, so gullible at Malleus’ side, he’s the perfect pawn to eventually entrap the prince with.  However, the stoic swordsman isn’t so easily tricked; whether he realizes it or not, growing up in Briar Valley, surrounded by fae, has taught the boy a thing or two about the art of evasion.  Azul won’t be getting his contract anytime soon.

Do you have any headcanon for Jade x Silver?

Indeed I do!  I’ll try to stick to how I think their relationship would pan out in canon... for now...

Personally, I believe that the first one to catch feelings and confess will have to be Jade.  His SR Labwear Story is a perfect example of their initially one-sided dynamic: while he is instantly charmed by Silver's enthusiastic reception of his mushrooms, the subject of interest himself remains blissfully unaware.  I like to think that this incident kickstarts an intrigue that Jade begins to pursue rather enterprisingly.  However, in order for things to take a more romantic turn, Silver’s obliviousness is the biggest obstacle to conquer.  To be clear, I don’t think that Jade develops a crush right away—but more on that in a bit.

For his part, Silver is perceptive enough... just not when it comes to feelings beyond the familiarity of his platonic ones.  As evidenced in Jade’s SSR Union Birthday Story, he is quite capable of noticing what makes those around him happy and acting accordingly, even if he isn’t totally aware of just how much it means to others.  I think that after Jade escapes the classmate-zone and eventually joins his inner circle, these sort of kind, thoughtless little gestures will become far more commonplace.  Eventually, this leads to Jade having an awful, terrifying moment of oh.

Up until this point, I believe that Jade’s pursuit of the other boy comes from a place of mild curiosity.  He seeks entertainment and stimulation, but not to the point of wanting to form a concrete bond in which there’s no benefit to be gained.  His feelings will creep up on him once he realizes that Silver actually considers him a friend after all those interactions that he really only started for fun.  The thought of serious commitment is both exciting and new, albeit slightly horrifying, which only piques his interest all the more.  As with all unfamiliar situations, however, he will have to wait and see before he delivers his final verdict.

Unfortunately for Jade, it’s quite hard not to be drawn to Silver.  At some point in time, they decide to make use of his new rope and go hiking together; Silver, being the training-junkie and mushroom risotto-addict he is, will hardly need any convincing to join.  Being alone together will do Jade well to realize what exactly his classmate is to him.  (Hint: he’s definitely more than a friend.)  This soon becomes a regular bonding experience for the both of them.

I also think that these two will enjoy simply basking in each other’s company doing ordinary, everyday tasks.  Neither of them are particularly high-maintenance people; just the thought that the other is there with them as they eat or study is more than enough.  Skin-ship likely won’t be a huge priority, either—even when they finally start dating, their domestic bliss is quite fulfilling in and of itself... though Silver still has to be caught up to speed, of course.

Honestly, I can’t imagine Silver recognizing Jade’s crush on him without some sort of outside catalyst.  Whether that be Lilia making a particularly explicit innuendo, or Sebek getting fed up with the one-sided pining and telling him outright, someone close to him will have to spell it out for the poor boy, word for word.  Then, at long last, comes the time for Silver to do his own internal reflection.  He needs to understand how his feelings for Jade are fundamentally different from his feelings for others.  However, once this agonizing period is over, there will be nothing but smooth seas for the duo.

Silver has always been shown to be quite a straightforward person in game.  Thus, he confronts Jade head-on about their... situation.  Getting over the initial awkwardness and embarrassment will be the hardest part to work through, but thankfully, both are mature enough to manage.

Once in a committed relationship, both will be fiercely protective of each other.  While it isn’t totally obvious at first, especially not with their naturally impassive demeanors, if anyone gets too close, the barriers will be drawn in an instant.  This mostly occurs on Jade’s part—he truly does live up to his last name, “Leech,” with the way he’s always by Silver’s side—but Silver never moves to discourage this behavior or hide the nature of their bond.

All in all, I think that they will make a rather unproblematic couple.  Perhaps one may be a little too yandere at times and the other a bit too stiff, but it’s nothing they can’t handle.  Their friends are actually pleasantly surprised at how well they work together.  Though their intimacy may or may not ramp up behind closed doors, in public, they’re as polite as always.  Azul and Floyd even slip Silver a few discounts for Mostro Lounge on the weekends, and Lilia and Malleus have a special bed reserved for Jade whenever he has to carry their sleeping son home.

...And that’s all I have for now.

As always, sorry this got so long!  This was my first attempt at answering an ask like this and I just have a lot of feelings about these characters, okay?  I feel like I sort of dove too far into analyzing their every interaction here and started writing a 10k slow-burn fanfic... oh well.  If this doesn’t satisfy your craving for some lovely JadeSil headcanons, just ask for more and I’ll be happy to provide!
