Do you have any headcanon for Jade x Silver?

Indeed I do!  I’ll try to stick to how I think their relationship would pan out in canon... for now...

Personally, I believe that the first one to catch feelings and confess will have to be Jade.  His SR Labwear Story is a perfect example of their initially one-sided dynamic: while he is instantly charmed by Silver's enthusiastic reception of his mushrooms, the subject of interest himself remains blissfully unaware.  I like to think that this incident kickstarts an intrigue that Jade begins to pursue rather enterprisingly.  However, in order for things to take a more romantic turn, Silver’s obliviousness is the biggest obstacle to conquer.  To be clear, I don’t think that Jade develops a crush right away—but more on that in a bit.

For his part, Silver is perceptive enough... just not when it comes to feelings beyond the familiarity of his platonic ones.  As evidenced in Jade’s SSR Union Birthday Story, he is quite capable of noticing what makes those around him happy and acting accordingly, even if he isn’t totally aware of just how much it means to others.  I think that after Jade escapes the classmate-zone and eventually joins his inner circle, these sort of kind, thoughtless little gestures will become far more commonplace.  Eventually, this leads to Jade having an awful, terrifying moment of oh.

Up until this point, I believe that Jade’s pursuit of the other boy comes from a place of mild curiosity.  He seeks entertainment and stimulation, but not to the point of wanting to form a concrete bond in which there’s no benefit to be gained.  His feelings will creep up on him once he realizes that Silver actually considers him a friend after all those interactions that he really only started for fun.  The thought of serious commitment is both exciting and new, albeit slightly horrifying, which only piques his interest all the more.  As with all unfamiliar situations, however, he will have to wait and see before he delivers his final verdict.

Unfortunately for Jade, it’s quite hard not to be drawn to Silver.  At some point in time, they decide to make use of his new rope and go hiking together; Silver, being the training-junkie and mushroom risotto-addict he is, will hardly need any convincing to join.  Being alone together will do Jade well to realize what exactly his classmate is to him.  (Hint: he’s definitely more than a friend.)  This soon becomes a regular bonding experience for the both of them.

I also think that these two will enjoy simply basking in each other’s company doing ordinary, everyday tasks.  Neither of them are particularly high-maintenance people; just the thought that the other is there with them as they eat or study is more than enough.  Skin-ship likely won’t be a huge priority, either—even when they finally start dating, their domestic bliss is quite fulfilling in and of itself... though Silver still has to be caught up to speed, of course.

Honestly, I can’t imagine Silver recognizing Jade’s crush on him without some sort of outside catalyst.  Whether that be Lilia making a particularly explicit innuendo, or Sebek getting fed up with the one-sided pining and telling him outright, someone close to him will have to spell it out for the poor boy, word for word.  Then, at long last, comes the time for Silver to do his own internal reflection.  He needs to understand how his feelings for Jade are fundamentally different from his feelings for others.  However, once this agonizing period is over, there will be nothing but smooth seas for the duo.

Silver has always been shown to be quite a straightforward person in game.  Thus, he confronts Jade head-on about their... situation.  Getting over the initial awkwardness and embarrassment will be the hardest part to work through, but thankfully, both are mature enough to manage.

Once in a committed relationship, both will be fiercely protective of each other.  While it isn’t totally obvious at first, especially not with their naturally impassive demeanors, if anyone gets too close, the barriers will be drawn in an instant.  This mostly occurs on Jade’s part—he truly does live up to his last name, “Leech,” with the way he’s always by Silver’s side—but Silver never moves to discourage this behavior or hide the nature of their bond.

All in all, I think that they will make a rather unproblematic couple.  Perhaps one may be a little too yandere at times and the other a bit too stiff, but it’s nothing they can’t handle.  Their friends are actually pleasantly surprised at how well they work together.  Though their intimacy may or may not ramp up behind closed doors, in public, they’re as polite as always.  Azul and Floyd even slip Silver a few discounts for Mostro Lounge on the weekends, and Lilia and Malleus have a special bed reserved for Jade whenever he has to carry their sleeping son home.

Back in Lilia and Silver’s cottage in Briar Valley, the floors of every room are covered in pillows.  This way, when it comes time for one of his impromptu naps, Silver’s head will suffer no harm.

Diasomnia’s Dynamics

Taking into consideration Sebek and Silver’s interactions and Lilia’s wish in the Wish Upon A Star event, I can’t help but wonder... What are the dynamics like within Diasomnia?

The official website states: “Diasomnia is a dorm for students who excel at magic across the board.”  Most fae students likely fall under this category, as the lack of technology in Briar Valley forces them to compensate magically in ways that others don’t have to.  Of course, that isn’t to say that the dorm is comprised of one singular demographic—as evidenced by Silver—but I’m willing to bet that there is still quite a high concentration of fae within it... and with those students come the beliefs and prejudices that they’ve been raised with.

While I don’t believe there is currently much information about Twisted Wonderland’s present political scene as it pertains to human-fae relations, we have definitely been given various implications of a past war between the two parties.  This must have been a considerably major conflict, seeing as Lilia continues to wish for world peace every Star Send-Off.  However, fighting seldom ends even after the battles are long since over.  Thus begs the question: What tensions remain?

We don’t really have a frame of reference to judge whether or not Lilia’s thoughts and ideals are the norm, but Sebek has been shown to repeatedly look down on humans, especially when it comes to Silver.  Ironically, Sebek is half-human himself.  As I’ve seen other posts touch upon, his actions could very well come from a place of self-loathing; after growing up in an environment where mortals are the minority, it would make sense that he’s faced discrimination and hence developed somewhat of an inferiority complex that he hides by becoming the aggressor himself.  However, if this is true, does this mean that Sebek is simply overcompensating—in a manner unique to himself—or are his behaviors a pale reflection of those of the pure fae, who lack his capability to empathize?

Interestingly enough, Silver doesn’t seem to be too bothered by any of this.  Whether it’s because he’s used to his underclassman’s enraged shouting or is just too easy-going to care, he never really responds in kind.  However, there is a difference between ignoring insults from a family member/childhood friend and brushing off a clearly spiteful remark from a total stranger.  In order to get the full scope of things, we would need to see some mob character interactions.

Overall, this is just a bunch of speculation and food for thought as I frantically brainstorm headcanons to cover all these bases... Personally, I think it would be super interesting for the issue of racism to be tackled, as it would add a lot of depth to the world building.  I’m also curious to know if the Diasomnia cast being mainly fae contributes to the other characters’ wariness of them.

Hopefully we’ll get some answers when Chapter 7 drops!

(Side note: Am I allowed to tag this as a meta/analysis if all I did was raise more questions...?  God, I’m not very good at this, am I... ^^;)

I’m sure other people have pointed this out, but it hasn’t really hit me before… the Tears of Themis characters are a part of Gen Z???

A Devil Town-inspired AU

In this AU, the Twisted Wonderland characters have all fallen into “Devil Town,” a world plagued with monsters and sickness. The longer they stay there, the more demonic they’ll become, with only a select few immune to such effects. Lilia and Malleus, who have been there far longer than most, are frantically searching for an exit when they stumble across Silver, a child blessed with the oh-so-coveted immunity. They take him—and later, Sebek–under their wings as they try to navigate this crazy world where everything can only get worse.
