Why doesn't anyone in this damn show talk about Aegon having a right to the throne too? Everyone acts like he's just a random guy who was made king because Viserys supposedly wanted him to be his heir. No, even without Viserys' words, he's the eldest son and that's why some of the lords sided with him and this war began in general.

to the beautiful writers that might see this, ao3 is currently being scrapped by an AI company called RIVD. this isn't your usual AI text scrapping, they are specifically targeting ao3 to feed their own AI / "tech-orientes" fanfiction site

their "takedown form" demands that you give them your full legal name and address. they do not say what they're doing with your personal details. there's no proof that this form works

until ao3 comes out with a proper statement or manages to lock their scrapped, just lock your fics for registered users

i'm shocked by how many people hate the idea of aemond being antagonistic towards aegon and consider it ooc? we have their loaded backstory with aegon being the #1 instigator of bullying towards aemond, further aemond is the second son and suffers from a very severe case of cain complex. the younger brother harboring resentment and envy is a very straightforward result of their upbringing.

also, do not use the book as a defense; each and every character in f&b is a cardboard cut out— we do not know what went on in any of the character's heads. we know that aegon at least appreciated his brother enough to want to build a statue in his honor. we also know that aemond gladly took the crown after rook's rest and said "It looks better on me than it ever did on him." does not scream fully devoted brother to me, does it?

again, i'm not insinuating that they fully hate each other— some love and devotion is certainly there. but, as with so many characters, they do not know how to be good to each other; it's the quintessential tragedy of this family.

also, conflict between the character is interesting and is needed for good fiction! why are you afraid of characters that make bad decisions and act erratically? it's just human.
