Hearing you walk in, she tried to make sure she maintained a face of indifference. Being left in her undergarments as she searched for her pajamas, she felt pathetic. You would never pressure her to do something like this, changing with the door open, rendering herself vulnerable.

“Dear, what’s the matter?” She hadn’t even noticed the tears falling down her face. She stared at the loose t-shirt in her clenched fists.

She was shaking.

“I’d like to change alone, I think.” She braced herself for something. Maybe physical contact from your hand, or a sigh of disappointment. Something to try to coerce her into continuing despite her hesitation.

But she wasn’t met with any distaste, as you pulled away and reached behind you. You handed her the pajama pants she’d brought for your sleepover.

“You don’t need my permission to do what makes you comfortable, Lynette. You’re safe to do whatever you need.”

Before she could start sobbing, she quickly turned away to leave for the bathroom. At times like this, you knew it was not best to force her to be too open. Lynette allowing you to see a side of her that reveals her fear is rare. It was best not to push it.

And while you returned to making sure your room was ready for her return, she stood in the mirror.

What did she do to deserve you?

As someone who tends to struggle with her self-esteem, I feel she could appreciate someone who can relate to her on some sort of level.

I feel she’d be very intrigued by your unique sense of style! It’s so peculiar to her, seeing ways of dressing that are unlike her home, but she enjoys it a lot. She’d even allow you to style a couple outfits for her, as long as she can have fun with yours as well.

I believe she’d enjoy a partner on the shorter side, someone who she can hold and struggle with on the vertical level. Although, getting high obejcts can be tricky for the two of you.

Being an introvert is no issue with her in the slightest, as long as you can communicate when something’s too much. She’s capable of speaking up for you, or toning things down if necessary.

She would ask you to teach her how to skateboard just so she can enjoy it with you (even if she freaks out a lot).

Despite her flaws or shortcomings, she can put in effort when needed, and is sure to devote her time and effort into ensuring your comfort!

You’d been made aware of her fear of the rain, well, the anxiety at least. When a clap of thunder would reign down, you were no fool when it came to feeling her grip tighten around your hand or waist.

Or perhaps you were.

While you were unconscious still, the false archon had been awoken by a trembling strike of lightning. It didn’t sound too close, but it certainly shook her. Helplessly turning to you, she was conflicted. You were sleeping through it fine.

The only thing she was capable of doing in that moment was try to shift her way closer without waking you. It didn’t matter to her if you would mind or not, she couldn’t let you see her like this. What idiot is afraid of storms anyway?

So she was focused on the rain that was attempting to make a forced entry into her mind. She didn’t even sense or feel your arms reach around her. Barely aware of her fright in its entirety, you pulled her closer into your own body.

Letting go for only a moment to grab your headphones off the bedside table, she panicked. “Wait, please!”

It was a near shriek. One she would surely be embarrassed by if she wasn’t so terrified.

“I’m here, okay? I’m not going anywhere, Furina.” You placed the headphones in front of her shivering body. She was shaking, but rigid as well. “I am never going to leave your side in your time of need. I promise you that.”
