Hello Readers :) I hope you all don't mind the longer posts! Each update will likely contain anywhere from 15-25 scenes. One of the things I didn't care for with Fallen Angel is breaking up the scenes and then having anywhere from 4-6 posts for one part but now it'll be more like 2-3 posts instead. This way we get a better visual flow, IMO. Please feel free to send me feedback via inbox or right in the comments! 😌✨
Chapter One Adie - Previous // Next Author's Note Below the Cut
Anyone interested in a lore fact? :) Today's topic- Familiars ✨
Familiars are spirits that aide witches in their craft/magical journey (to put it vaguely). It's actually not common practice that all spellcasters have a familiar since magic =/= spirituality in the way it does for Dark Magic witches. And there is a very spiritual connection between a witch and her familiar.
Dark witches are soul tied to their familiars, entering a contract of reciprocated devotion, trust and respect. Familiars always take an animal form as the spirit is bound to the animal of the witch's choosing ( performed by a ritual we'll soon see) but they are known shapeshifters and can even have a human form if they please. Most choose not to, since familiar magic isn't strong enough to hold that form for very long.
Once a witch dies, her familiar is released from their contract and can either pass with her or enter a new contract with another witch in a new animal form. At the end of Fallen Angel, we actually see Daera, the red fox finally laying to rest so she can join her witch, Adelina in the afterlife. ✨

Anyone interested in a lore fact? :) Today's topic- Mermaids✨
Mermaids are a magical occult species that live in hiding in open bodies of water in the mortal realm, preferably in warmer climates, such as Sulani and Tomarang. Mermaids are very curious and mischievous by nature. While they typically keep their distance from mortals, juvenile mermaids like to explore the surface and see what they can get into, which is usually trouble. What can makes them so dangerous is that they use magic to make themselves invisible to mortals. It's how they manage to survive in the mortal realm from being hunted by Pirates (aka Occult Hunters).
Adie's first contact with mermaids was when she was just a baby. She caught the eye of two juveniles, who was very intrigued with being seen by what they thought was a mortal baby. That lead to them returning that night and whisking her away to their cove. Luckily, Nora was able to lend a hand in the rescue.
Mermaids also speak their own unique language and have a bartering system, often trading with other pods for survival. If you ever find yourself in a bind with a mermaid, hopefully you know how to speak Mertalk and have something shiny to trade for ✨

Pirates aka Occult Hunters are a group of mercenary thieves that hunt the occult for profit. Most work on their own or with a crew for their own gain/the thrill of the hunt but they are known to be contract hunters, often hired by Occult Enthusiasts, Collectors and even Vampires.
Most occult live in hiding in the Mortal Realm from these ruthless hunters but Pirates are very tech savvy and with the help of rogue mages looking for a quick payout, they are able to use magic and technology to assist with their hunt, such as magic infused lenses that allow them to see mermaids.
So if you're looking for a pirate for hire, you can find them wherever the occult are: the oceans, dense forests/jungles, snow cap mountains and even...the Magic Realm. Not all Pirates are mortals. Anyone can hunt occult, including other occults. That's why you always have to keep an eye out. You never know who's lurking and plotting for their next paycheck. 👀

✨ Let’s Catch Up with the Briar Legacy ✨
For my new readers, Sonny Briar is youngest son of Ezra Briar (my Gen 3 heir). Sonny's the first werewolf in my Briar legacy, his children following in his pawprints shortly after with the help of some good ole' "Moonshine", as the werewolves call it. Sonny was always a handful growing up. He was a mischief loving kid that quickly spiraled into a trouble seeking teenager. All that trouble caused his fed up parents to spend his butt right back to the country in hopes of getting him on the right path. Turns out, that was just what he needed and it wasn't long before Sonny fell in love with Henford. After proving his growth, it was a no brainer that Honey pass on the Briar family horse business to Sonny. Now he's raising three young werewolves to hunt and defend their territory from ramped vampire attacks. His alliance with the Moonwood Collective and Wildfangs makes them the strongest werewolf pack in the southwest. He may got a lot of responsibilities on his plate but he'll always be the same ole Sonny.
