Lucy Maud Montgomery - Tumblr Posts - Page 2
I've come across a few theories suggesting that Lucy is being intentionally dishonest about the rules of Anne's Room to stop Kyōka from joining the fight, and ngl, as valid as these are, I kind of disagree.
The main thing the theories seem to stem from is confusion about how AOAR’s transportation system works – or in other words, why Lucy is insisting they’ll be crushed by rubble if she releases her ability when before it was shown that those she transports out of Anne’s Room don’t necessarily have to reappear in the same place they were transported from.

While I agree that this is puzzling, I feel inclined to take an Occam’s Razor approach and attribute it to the pre-established proximity rule: just as Lucy can only transport people or things she’s in close proximity to, she can only make them reappear near where Anne’s Room has been deployed. And so in this scenario, where there’s no way of knowing how much of the surrounding area is rubble, reappearing would be taking a major risk no matter what.
Loopholes are a feature of Anne of Abyssal Red, not a bug (in keeping with its “imagination incarnate” theme), and most inconsistencies in the rules can be explained by them. For example, while Lucy can't change the spatial location of Anne’s Room once it’s already been deployed (if she could, the Guild probably wouldn’t have been able to capture her on the Moby Dick + it’s indicated in chapter 71 that she can deploy it around her body instead of a location, but only so long as she herself remains outside)...

... she can at any time alter the conditions of the exit door. It was, after all, implied that her linking the door to the Moby Dick’s outer wall was what allowed Atsushi to keep his memories.

What’s more, in chapter 33, it’s revealed that Anne, while indeed undefeatable, can be restrained, and in 77, we learn that an enemy can transport themselves along with a target if they attach something physical to them beforehand. What Lucy can and can't do with loopholes is what makes her ability so versatile.
But aside from the ability aspect, a more obvious sign that she's being honest is her dialogue in the last panel. Why would she remark, worried expression and all, that the enemy accounted for Anne's Room if she were lying to Kyōka about what Anne's Room actually does?

I take both this and the fact that she replies “I don’t know” to Kyōka asking what can be done less as her trying to throw Kyōka off and more as the story underscoring just how helpless she is with Anne’s Room nullified. One because the former would be kind of pointless (more on that below), and two because not knowing things is far from out-of-character for Lucy, lol

Granted, lying for a good reason isn’t out-of-character for her, either. All the way back on the Moby Dick, she lied about waiting on Atsushi’s salvation, knowing that he would be more motivated to stay alive himself if he thought there was someone counting on him to save them. This situation with Kyōka feels a bit different, though. She's upfront with her about why she doesn't want her risking her life, something that would be rendered meaningless by her lying about their situation. Why be simultaneously honest about wanting Kyōka to show self-preservation in the face of danger and dishonest about there being danger to begin with? They're conflicting tactics.
The only slight manipulation I believe Lucy is employing is – again, like with Atsushi on the MB – touching on their shared love for Atsushi, i.e., deliberately communicating with Kyōka in a way she knows will get through to her. But if anything, that just makes it more doubtful that she's lying. Again, why would she make such an effort to dissuade Kyōka from risking her life if she could just further reinforce a lie about escape being impossible instead?
Don’t get me wrong, I do think Lucy is trying to protect Kyōka, but I also think it goes a little deeper than that. I went more in-depth about this in my previous post about them, but basically – in keeping with who Lucy has been from the start – she’s applying her philosophy of personhood > heroism to Kyōka and Atsushi at the same time. She’s encouraging Kyōka to be more than just a hero by telling her to think of how it would affect Atsushi as a person if she died. I don’t think this would have nearly as much impact if she were additionally using underhanded tactics.
No disrespect to any hardworking BSD theorists, ofc – y’all rock – I’m just not so sure about this one.
"Can you stop being so positive and romantic?"
NO, my favorite writer is Lucy Maud Montgomery for a reason
minha mais nova criação e pretendo escrever uma fanfic my newest creation and I intend to write a fanfic

Part 2 of 3. More amazing illustrations by Luisa Uribe. Miss Muriel Stacy!!!!
My Personal Favorite BSD Abilities
Got into an argument so I'm backing up here
!SPOILERS AHEAD!
here we go:
8. Another - Yukito Ayatsuji

"Once the criminal behind a murder is identified, the killer will face certain death in an 'accident'
Adding to that, this dude can be ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD and kill someone (a criminal).
Literally no matter how strong they are
(He can't control it, it's literally an accident)
7. Draconia - Tatsuhiko Shibusawa

"A multi-formed ability. Is able to create a mysterious mist capable of separating abilities from their users. If the ability kills its user then it will be added to Draconia's Room."
This was pretty damn cool when I saw this
But dangerous!!!!!!
Basically once separated, the ability and it's user fight each other
If the ability wins, then it turns into a crystal and gets but in the room
And if the user wins, they can reclaim their ability
+ user cannot use their ability when fighting it
Also when Shibusawa died, he had to get killed MULTIPLE TIMES because he was manifested in sans memory when he got killed the first time due to his ability
Then he turned into a dragon hybrid
(Also it was Fyodor's fault kinda)
6. Undefeated By The Rain - Miyazawa Kenji

"Unleashes untold strength and stoutness but only when he is hungry."
Very specific, but I like it!
His schedule can literally be: Yeet a car, kick some gangsters' ass, then eat lunch
He could not eat for a few hours and probably level a building (might be a little exagerrating)
HES SO CALM ABOUT IT TOO WTF????
When he does eat, he'll end up sleeping after (well deserved!)
5. Illuminations + Anne of Abyssal Red - Arthur Rimbaud and Lucy Maud Montgomery

Illuminations: "Allows him to create a hyperspace which he has full control over. Thanks to this he is able to create a nearly impenetrable defense that could not be broken by guns or explosives."
As we saw, he can pretty much do anything in the hyperspace
He basically put some life in a corpse in that space (not really)
And the only way you can get out is to nullify the ability
This ability has no limited range either, so he could cover large area with it
Anne of Abyssal Red: "Able to create an alternate dimension called Anne's Room. Anyone who loses a game of tag against the monstrous Anne, who dwells inside, is locked in the dimension forever."
Similar concept, not quite the same
In Anne's room, you can actually escape, but you will have no memories of the room once you leave
And then there is Anne, who will play a game of tag with you
If you get tagged, you join people with the same fate in a secret room
But Lucy can link the exit to somewhere of her choice, so the next thing you know, you could be in a moving vehicle
The only known way to escape with knowledge of the room is when Lucy deactivates her ability
4. Plum Blossoms in Snow - Tetchō Suehiro

"Allows him to manipulate the length and form of his saber."
Stretchy sword
It goes super long
THIS MF WENT YOINKITY SPOINKITY AND STABBED KENJI IN A HELICOPTER
He can totally use it more like a grappling hook
So it's perfect for evasion and attacking!
3. Light Snow - Jun'ichirō Tanizaki

"Able to project illusions into physical space, like a smokescreen."
He can make fake objects like in Anne's Room
But there's more
In his fight with John and Lovecraft, he changed what the truck driver saw
And we knew how that ended, the truck crashed into them
This can extend to things like cameras, making him perfect for infiltrations and spying
2. Priceless Tears - Saigiku Jōno

"Allows him to disintegrate his own body into atom-sized pieces."
With this, he can fit into small spaces in order to avoid attacks
Air conditioners, under doors, you name it
He can also disintegrate his body when in contact with a gun or lethal weapon like that, almost making him immune to physical objects
Though, he can get hurt in his form of particles
1. The Overcoat - Nikolai Gogol

"His overcoat serves as a portal connecting another point in space, up to thirty meters away"
You ever seen that scene where Josuke opens up a paper and a hand with a gun comes out?
Literally that, but limited range
30 meters doesn't seem a lot, but it's pretty good for a ranged ability
He put people through his coat
He put himself through his coat
He put a fucking telephone pole through his coat
Yeah that's it!
Sorry if I got some details wrong, I haven't read the manga in a while, so I scraped together what I know

part 2:
i decided on these pairs, but first these were the people invited:
The whole ADA (with the exception of Naomi who suspiciously had school that day so she could not attend the wedding (ranpo did not want to get disturbed by Tanizaki's sister all over him at his wedding day))
ONE port mafia member, and it was Chuuya (all for the purpose of putting him inside the escape room with Dazai)
some guild members Poe still had contact with (Steinbeck, Lovecraft, Louisa, Lucy, Mark)
and some special division members/others (that being Ango, Sigma, Mushitaro, and Natsume)
there's definitely some rules in the house but the big ones are:
if you have a destructive ability, you can't use it or you're disqualified!
using abilities is allowed, and some specific rooms do need you to use abilities.
at the end of three hours, your room will be unlocked and you won't be allowed to have cake!
okay first off:
- Natsume decides not to take part in the escape room, saying he's a little tired and would instead like to watch side by side with Ranpo and Poe through cameras they placed in the escape room, watching everyone go through the rooms
- Chuuya and Dazai are obviously paired together. i saw in a reblog that someone said "they would do so much better alone but together they just keep bantering and almost lose" and that is the best way i can describe them (Poe thought it was a lovely idea not knowing the history of these people)
- Atsushi was meticulously picked out. instead of picking his pair he probably picked two random names from a bowl full of names and those were Kunikida and Sigma. They arguably carried the escape room and were probably the first ones out after like ~an hour? because of Sigma's ability. this implies either Kunikida or Atsushi was really like "out of everything rn i just really want to know how to get out of here"
- Yosano did not want to take the risk and work with Lovecraft (for an unspecified reason) and went out of her way to pair herself with Kyoka and Tanizaki since she knew at the very least she could get out the escape house with these two people. They are surprisingly helpful and they were like maybe the second or third group to come out the escape house
- then we got the Kenji. We got the Lovecraft. Got the Steinbeck. Kenji befriended them over the time and Lovecraft genuinely maybe appreciated that?? like oh. finally. someone like John. and Steinbeck was happy as fuck too??? like wow! another farmer guy who knows what it's actually like! that's so cool. i don't even care about the cake anymore this guy is great. (this team takes their time, a whole 2 hours and 30 minutes so they're the last group before Chuuya and Dazai come out)
- Lucy, Louisa and Mark selected their team cause they were like "okay. everyone else is in teams but at least we know each other" (Mark said that and Mark honestly just made up an excuse to annoy and banter with lucy while louisa is there, watching) though they do get out. (thanks to louisa's ability she spent like 10 minutes alone in a room when they were done investigating and then she solved it all on her own. they probably took like 2 hours and 17 minutes in the escape room and most of the time was just mark annoying lucy)
- oh and lastly, the two last picked ended up together which was Mushitaro and Ango. Mushi definitely just uses his ability to find evidence while Ango uses his to search through the memories of items and how to use them. Though, they do definitely like have casual chats? say their thoughts, open up while they solve the room together. they emerge the room a little bit closer (thanks wingman ranpo)
- oh, but lastly, Fukuzawa. Fukuzawa decided to go alone, not caring about the cake but rather he wanted to test how well he's known ranpo. if he can see which parts are the ones Ranpo designed and which ones were the ones that Poe designed. he takes a long time with this but he does solve the room all on his own and emerges as one of the last at a tally of around 2 hours and 27 minutes.
ranpoe wedding but their after party is an escape room and couples/best friends are paired in a group of 3. they have 3 hours to get out the escape room or else there will be no wedding cake for the loser
(poe and ranpo designed the escape room so its super hard)
