Inside Out Sadness - Tumblr Posts
Alright so I watched Inside Out 2 a couple days ago, and I'm sure other people already have talked about everything possible, but I still feel like I need to rant about my thoughts so I'm gonna do that here.
SPOILERS BELOW, PLEASE SKIP THIS POST IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THE MOVIE AND DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED
The first thing I wanna talk about is how insanely accurate all the emotions were portrayed. The first movie already showed the emotions in a simple but also incredibly accurate way, so much so that I could understand it as a kid who hadn't even turned ten when the first movie came out. But this movie took that portrayal and turned it up to eleven. I feel like if I were still nine years old and I watched this movie, it would perfectly help me understand the concepts of anxiety, envy, embarrassment and even ennui in a way that I don't think any other movie could.
Being even more specific, the panic attack was an incredibly realistic portrayal too. I've been lucky enough not to have experienced a full-on panic attack myself, but I've heard from people close to me that also watched the movie that it's even their favorite part of the movie for how good it really is. Plus, the way Riley grounds herself, and the way the movie brings attention to it is really amazing to see. First she slows her breathing as the emotions all hug her new sense of self, and then the immediate next thing that she does is focus on the feel of the bench on her hand, the sounds of the hockey game around her, and what she can see, and it works. Admittedly, this part I probably wouldn't have understood as a kid, but I definitely understand it now, and it's beautiful.
This is also a great movie to get across the concept of peer pressure, and how subtle it can be. Val's two friends in the hallway are a great example. The way they talk to Riley about Coach's red notebook puts the idea into her head that the notebook is the most important thing determining whether or not she'll become a Firehawk. This idea gets to her so much that she sneaks into Coach's office at night to find her name in the notebook, something that she likely never would have done had Val's two friends not talked about the notebook that way. Similarly, in the scene where Riley and the Firehawks are hanging out together and talking about bands, one of those same friends asks Riley who her favorite band is, and when she says Get Up and Glow, this friend of Val's pressures Riley into lying and being sarcastic about loving her favorite band, all because she wants to fit in with the Firehawks. Val's friends may not even realize they're pressuring her, but it's still enough to get Riley to try and change everything about herself just to become friends with the Firehawks.
Aside from all of those concepts, though, there were also so many small details and easter eggs that I wanna rant about. I loved how almost all of the memories at the start of the movie were mixed between the core 5 emotions, showing that they worked together so well as a team. I freaked out when I saw Joy's origami Bing Bong on her shelf by her bed. I loved the details about Bloofy breaking the fourth wall not being understandable to anybody else, and how Lance Slashblade moves like a videogame character getting caught on the collision of a map. I loved that the officer's hat in the vault scene had "My Hat" written on it to call back to the two Subconscious guards from the first movie.
I guess my main point is that I believe this movie is just as good as the first Inside Out, and perfectly captures the message it wants to give to people. I had so many concerns that it would be a disappointing sequel, and I was so pleasantly surprised once I actually watched it. You don't have to agree with me, of course; that's only natural for some people not to agree on things. But I do hope that if you took the time to read everything in this monster of a post, that you enjoyed my ramblings, and that maybe it even resonated with you.

Ok the brainrot for inside out 2 is finally getting to me, im airing out some headcanons
Anxiety loves ASMR to unwind but is scared everyone will make fun of her if they know, so she wears ear buds
Ennui and disgust are the only ones anxiety lets style her hair other than herself. Ennui because they have been close for such a long time and disgust because she knows she won't mess it up
Ennui has the must fucked up sleep schedule, you don't even KNOW
Envy collects things. Shes a chronic horder. Same with anxiety, but for different reasons
Anxiety loves weighted blankets
Joy sometimes sings in her sleep. It's mainly the tripledent gum song, which pisses everyone off.
Sadness adores sad music in different languages. She loves how poetic they sound
Disgust is the one everyone goes to when their clothes rip and such
Fear constantly tries to flirt with anxiety but either backs out at the last minute or screams his romantic words, which overwhelms anxiety
Joy adores weird als music and will do covers with her accordion if you so much as mention weird al
Anger loves excessively violent songs, he finds them calming in a way
Embarrassment has a diary where he puts his drawings and feelings about the other emotions in. There's a lot about sadness in there
Ennui LIVES for emo music. She likes listening to it with anxiety
Anxiety learned French EXCLUSIVELY for ennui and to talk about French culture, books, movies and other stuff with her
Envy has two forms, the small one when she's only slightly jealous of someone and a huge, monster-like one for when she's truly envious of someone, like to the point of wanting to destroy that person's life or be exactly like them
Disgust and fear like watching drag race together
Every emotion has variations of their outfits, and the one they normally wear is their favorite
Anger sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night to make sure everyone is asleep and everything's ok.
Sadness really enjoys writing poetry but gets shy when asked about it
just watched inside out again to prepare to see the new movie tomorrow and forgot him much this movie made me cry. Not to mention have more insight into the deeper meanings of some of some of the happenings in the movie.
I have no idea why I decided to share but hope those of you who are watching inside out 2 enjoy and I might give my thoughts on the movie in a post tomorrow as well.

Here’s my opinion on feanger
☆Since inside out 2 is coming out in June 2024, and we just got the trailer. I wanted to talk about one of the of the popular ships in the inside out, fandom which is feanger now I’m going to be stating my opinion and my personal thoughts on the ship  now before you go in the common section and say “ didn’t anger beat up fear in the movie” yes I am aware so there’s going to be some major character development and improvement on anger side.
☆now my opinion is that they both have giving and receiving qualities that will could keep their relationship healthy and good for instants fear could teach anger how to handle his emotions in a healthy manner. [Yes, I said his emotions] and anger could help fear learn how to stand up for himself, and be a little more confident [Yes, I noticed that fear lacks a little bit of confidence] now the big question is how would feanger work and how would it start? well, the simple answer is their dynamic is how when they would work think about it a hothead who’s all about fairness and they scared safety freak it would be interesting to see their dynamic more if the writers let us see more of their dynamic and how would they would interact with each other now it would just have to be the way of them, incorporating it now how would it start? It would most likely have to start with anger, apologizing to fear about the way he was treating him and fear understanding they start slowly building a friendship with each other until they slowly start developing feelings for one another, it confuses the both of them. They’ve never felt this feeling before a mixed in with their dynamic then it would be a roller coaster for both of them. I could definitely see fear keeping his feelings to himself Meanwhile, anger just straight up denies the fact that he has feelings for fear, and it would most likely end with them both confronting the fact that they have feelings for each other they would choose to take it slow,this is new to them, but if they want to have a good relationship, they’re going to have to learn how to navigate this new path that they’re now on.

i love the genderfluid riley theory and ik its most likely cuz shes the main human so her emotion character designs get to be diverse in gender and appearance but like. genderfluid riley. she just doesnt know it yet 👀👀
