Digital Art Tips - Tumblr Posts
Sis has been totally clear!!! I couldn't have said it better tbh.
As for canvas size, I'd say the bigger, the better. But. This doesn't mean you have to make giant canvases or your poor CPU will cry. I'd recommend staying between 2000 and 4000 pixels for a decent quality. Consider under 2000 px only for extremely simple stuff that doesn't require a lot of details. But you (the anon) will eventually figure out the best size for the drawing you're about to make; also, exporting in JPEG allows you to save space on the computer, exporting in PNG weighs a little more but the quality is better.
As for the rest, what Dragondingus said: experiment, try everything out, and above all have fun! ;)
hey, i was just wondering if you had any advice for someone breaking into digital art? thanks!
Tips huh? hmmm..
If it’s your first time using a computer tablet (the ones that don’t have a screen), don’t get frustrated as it will probably be weird at first if its something you haven’t done before.
Learn the program your using, dabble with the new tools and effects because you never know what new things you may find that you can make good use of. No need to research a whole tutorial if you don’t want to (although a basic rundown helps if you are brand spankin new), I just mean explore the tools it has to offer- have fun with it :)
Just like traditional art, the more you draw with it the better you’ll get! The faster you’ll get at switching between tools too.
Double tap/control z is your friend.
FLIP THE CANVAS.
If something looks off and you don’t quite know what.
FLIP. THE. CANVAS.
What can seem like a straight-standing character can turn into the Leaning Tower of Pisa with one click.
If ya got over 5+ layers: Title them.
Digital art is fun! Have fun with it! Try new brushes and techniques, see what works well what doesn’t. Have a good time!
For someone who began drawing through mostly using digital art from the start, you’d think I’d have more to say, but that’s all I got from the top of my head right now.. And I feel like there’s a lot I’m still learning. I STILL don’t completely know how to properly measure canvas sizes, and pixels, and dpi that I want and all that even though I know it’s important, especially if I want to make good prints. It’s something I really need to be handy with. ;;_;;
So if anyone knows/has tips about that part in an easy to comprehend way- please help a sis out :’) And feel free to add more to this you have any digital art tips!
