i’m hoping this is a safe space and i don’t sound stupid but im new to f1 can you explain why max’s number is shown as 1 and/or 33?

when you join f1, drivers choose their own numbers and he chose 33 because he used it in his early racing career in karting i believe

however, after winning a championship, the driver who wins has the option to use the number 1 for the following season
