The sky had begun to fade from brilliant blue to dusky purple and hazy pink with the horizon catching fire with red and orange. Traffic was flowing smoothly and the radio was playing all your favorite music. The feeling of a wonderfully calm evening was beginning to settle into you as the road began to curve gently North after you passed the Dongjak Bridge, the Han River barely visible over the trees with the dim glow of the city on the other side shimmering in the rippling water. You felt the wheel of your car beginning to vibrate hard in your hands. The car began to shudder and slow despite you hitting the gas.
“Oh no, no, no…” You checked your mirrors and made your way to the right hand lane, hitting your hazards as your car came to a stop, smoke spewing from under the hood. You sighed and turned the car off then grabbed your bag. You searched inside for your phone before realizing you didn’t have it and remembered you had left it on the counter that morning. You cursed under your breath and checked your mirror again before getting out of your car.
