“How is it that Indians are present everywhere—in the form of place names, popular culture, advertising, sports team names, weapons systems—yet barely present in history and largely absent from the great national debates of our time?”
— Paul Chaat Smith, a Comanche author, essayist, and curator. Hear him speak at the Whitney on January 19, as he explores the contradiction at the heart of the American national project.

Gotta try this one!
Native Recipes: Corn Soup
Supplied by a cousin ✨
Corn Soup
Ingredients:
-salt pork
-4-6 cans white hominy
-2-4 cans red kidney beans
-water
Instructions:
-Cut salt pork into small pieces, about ½ inch
-Put in soup pot, add about an inch of water.
-Bring to a boil, turn down the heat but keep it on a boil. Continually add water as it evaporates. You want it to stay at that inch of water.
-Cook for 4-6 hours.
-Open cans of white hominy and cans or red kidney beans. Do not drain.
-Add to pot and cook until hot all the way through
