☔︎

“He’s so pretty…”, you murmur, holding little Jisung, Taehyung’s son, in your arms, gently rocking him, watching as his little eyes peacefully close as he falls asleep. “I want one…”, you whisper, gently caressing the baby’s soft hair.

“I know you do, jagiya.”, Yoongi wraps his arm around your shoulder, gently pulling you close, careful not to wake the baby up. He places a soft kiss on your temple, as his hand caresses the skin of your bare shoulder. “I want one, too.”

You and Yoongi’ve been trying to get pregnant for years now. You’d started trying before he even proposed to you, and now you’ve been married for over two years and still nothing. It crushes Yoongi’s heart knowing that he still hasn’t been able to give you the thing you want the most: a family.

“I think I’d be a great mom.”, he hears you sniffle, but you’re not looking at him. Instead, you’re looking at the baby in your arms, carefully wrapped in a sage green blanket, with a little pacifier with a bunny on it in his little mouth.

“You will be the best mom in the world, jagiya.”, he places another kiss on your head, and he lingers a bit. “We just have to wait a little longer.”, he wants to reassure you that everything’s gonna be okay, that you’ll have the family you dream of, that you’ll finally welcome a child to the world, but he can’t. He can’t make a promise he’s not sure he can keep.

“I love you so much, Yoongi.”, you whisper, leaning in to kiss him on the lips, but you’re interrupted by Jisung’s stirring, right before he bursts into a loud cry, and Taehyung immediately rushes towards to you, ready to pick his baby up and soothe him.

☔︎

The sensation of Yoongi’s delicate, long fingers brushing against your soft skin is familiar to you, but it makes you shiver nonetheless. He caresses your breasts as he places a series of wet, sloppy kisses all over your neck and collar bone, squeezing one of your nipples between his index and thumb, earning a muffled moan from you in response.

His hand sluggishly moves all over your waist and pelvis, until you feel him place his thumb on your clit, as he keeps thrusting in and out of you at an excruciatingly slow pace, repeatedly brushing over your g-spot with the tip of his dick. He starts moving it in a circular motion, and you let out a timid moan, which only encourages him to repeat the action again and again, until you’re a whimpering mess under him.

“‘m about to cum, jagi…”, he groans in your ear.

“Me too…”, you pant, suddenly feeling overwhelmed with Yoongi kissing your neck and working your clit at the same time. “Please don’t stop.”, you whimper, encouraging him to go faster.

“I love you so much, jagi…”, he lets out a groan as soon as he feels you  clench around him, and he finally cums inside you, before collapsing on your naked body, sweaty and exhausted. You run your hand though his soft, black hair, then place a tender kiss on his head resting on your bare chest. “I love you too, so much. So, so much, Yoongi…”

He notices that something’s off, by the way you shift uncomfortably under him and by the way your hand, the one that was caressing his hair, stops moving. He doesn’t ask you what’s wrong, though, and simply lifts up and retrieves his body from between your thighs, before heading to the bathroom to grab you a towel to clean yourself from his cum, that’s slowly dripping out of you.

Once he lays down next to you, in the darkness of your bedroom, and hugs your body close to his from behind, you can’t help but let a few tears slip from your eyes. You hope he doesn’t hear your muffled sniffles, but he does. He does, and tears well up in his eyes too, because he knows the exact reason why you’re crying and it kills him that he can’t take your pain away.

He places soft, delicate kisses on your bare shoulder, but suddenly stops when you call his name. “Yoongi…”, your voice trembles as you fight back the tears. “Why don’t we just…”, you take a deep breath, not sure you even want to say it out loud. “Why don’t we just stop trying?”

Yoongi feels as if his heart just stopped beating once he hears those words come out of your mouth. What is he supposed to say? He knows he can’t make the situation any better, but it hurts him too, he just wishes you knew that. It hurts his heart the way he sees you crying on the bathroom floor with a pregnancy test in your hands, negative every damn time; he was heartbroken too when Taehyung’d given him and his friends the news that he was soon going to become a father.

“Jagi…”, he intertwines his fingers with yours, his voice trembles as his lower lip quivers, signaling he’s about to cry, too. “Are you sure? Do you… do you want to give up?”

You bite your lower lip so hard you can almost taste blood in your mouth. The thought of giving up on having a family with the love of your life makes you feel weak, but at the same time, it’s just too much for you to handle right now. You and Yoongi have been together for many years, you’d started dating when you were in high school, and the moment you met him, you instantly knew he was the one.

You’ve always wanted to become a mother someday. As for Yoongi, he never knew how much he wanted to become a husband and a father until the day he met you. You were both really, really young to even think about having kids or getting married, but it was nice to know that you were on the same page, at least.

When you decided to finally start trying for a baby, you were twenty-three and he was twenty-four. Luckily, both you and Yoongi had already graduated and had stable and well payed jobs, plus you were already living together, so a baby would fit just perfect.

But now, after nearly three years of trying… you’ve almost lost hope.

“I just don’t want to go through all this anymore… the hope I feel every time my period’s late and how it gets crushed the moment I take a pregnancy test and only one damn line shows up…”, you sigh, swallowing the lump in your throat, as you feel Yoongi’s body stiffen behind yours. “I don’t want to feel that kind of pain anymore, Yoongi, it breaks my heart.”

You feel something wet on your shoulder, and that’s how you realize that Yoongi’s crying as well. “Jagi…”, he murmurs, holding you even tighter than he already was. “I’m so sorry, jagiya, so, so sorry…”, he manages to say between sobs, “I want to give you the family we’ve been dreaming of, I want to give you the world…”

You try to turn your body so that you’re now facing him, but struggle a bit, since Yoongi’s holding you a bit too tight, but you somehow manage to do so. When you meet his eyes, you notice his cheeks are flooded with tears, his nose is a bit runny. You cup his face in your hands, brushing away a couple of dark locks from his eyes, then you place a soft, chaste kiss on his plump lips.

“I love you so much, Yoongi…”, you kiss him again, wiping away some tears from his face. “You make me the happiest, it’s just… it gets too much sometimes, I feel like maybe we should take a break from trying, maybe we’re just stressing too much about it.”

He just nods with his head, and this time it’s him who kisses you softly. “Anything for you, jagiya.”

☔︎

Yoongi feels his legs shake and his head starts to spin as soon as he processes his friend’s words. “What?”, he blinks a few times, speechless, secretly hoping that maybe, just maybe, he misheard what Taehyung had said.

“Yup, Jihyeon’s pregnant. A couple of months already.”, his friends repeats himself, with a big smile on his face. “Jisung’s gonna be a big brother.”

Again?, Yoongi thinks, immediately feeling bad afterwards, but he really can’t help it. Little Jisung’s only, like, nine months old and Taehyung’s girlfriend’s already pregnant again?

He gulps hard, as he feels his palms become sweaty, and his thoughts go immediately to you. Yoongi knows that, if Taehyung’d decided to tell him and the boys the happy news, then his girlfriend Jihyeon probably told you and the other girlfriends already. Shit, he thinks, you’re probably going to be devastated.

You’d decided to take a break from trying, yes, but Yoongi knows you like the back of his hands by now, and he knows that you’re probably breaking down inside. He wonders whether he should text you just to check up on you and see how you were doing, but he then decides not to, just in case Jihyeon didn’t tell you anything about the pregnancy.

But she did. She announced her second pregnancy with the brightest smile you’d ever seen on her face, practically shoving her ultrasounds to you and the other girls’ faces.  The other girlfriends are all happily cheering and smiling and laughing and you can’t take it anymore. You feel like you’re the worst friend ever, but you really have to force yourself to smile, because it’s just too underwhelming.

“I didn’t know you and Taehyung were trying again.”, Chaerin, Namjoon’s girlfriend, says to Jihyeon, wiggling her eyebrows and playfully elbowing her on the arm.

“We weren’t.”, Jihyeon confesses, blushing a little, and your stomach drops, as your legs begin to shake. “We hadn’t been exactly… careful, so when my period was late we knew there might be a chance, you know?”

You can’t believe it, and you can’t help but feeling a bit angry. You and Yoongi’ve been literally trying for years, and the moment Jihyeon and Taehyung have unprotected sex once she gets pregnant with her second child? This must be one of God’s sick jokes, because seriously, what the fuck?

When Yoongi comes home later that night, he finds you laying on your bed, still with your clothes on, and he can hear your sobs even from the doorstep, and his heart crashes into a million pieces, because he knows. He knows the reason why you’re so sad, and the worst thing is he can’t do anything to make the situation any better. He can’t take your pain away, as much as he wants to.

“Jagiya…”, he murmurs, sitting on the bed next to you. He places his soft hand on your cheek, caressing it with his long fingers, as he feels your hot tears on his skin.

“I… Jihyeon’s…”, you can’t even get the words out of your mouth.

“I know.”, Yoongi interrupts you, and you’re thankful for that, because even saying it out loud makes your heart ache even more. “I know, jagi, I know… I’m so sorry.”, he whispers, placing a warm kiss on your forehead.

“It was unplanned.”, you manage to say, taking a deep breath. “Why us, Yoongi? Why?”, your voice trembles. “We’ve been trying for years after… after…”, you can’t say it out loud, it hurts too much.

And Yoongi knows, because as you speak those words he gulps and closes his eyes, letting the pain sink in at the thought of your miscarriage. His mind goes back to when the doctor told you that your baby didn’t make it, and it hurts him just like that day.

You and Yoongi had decided not to tell anyone about your pregnancy. You’d just found out, plus it was too early to be announcing it to all of your friends and family, and you wanted to keep it just for yourselves for a little while. Until that morning, when you woke up to an unusual pain in your lower abdomen and an unexpected red stain on both your pajamas and bedsheets. And you just knew.

Yoongi didn’t cry then, nor in your gynecologist’s studio when she confirmed your suspicions, because he knew he had to be strong for you, even though it was killing him. He cried in the shower though, when he was alone, where his tears got mixed up with the hot water drops falling on his face, hoping that it’ll somehow erase all the pain he was feeling. It didn’t. He didn’t feel any better, he doesn’t feel any better, he just learned how to live with the weight, instead of being crushed by it.

“I don’t know, jagiya…”, he lets out an hopeless sigh, fighting back his own tears.

“It’s so unfair.”, you snap, not angry at Yoongi, but at your fate. “I want to be a mom, I want it so bad. And then she mentioned she thought about having an abortion, because the thought of having another kid so soon scared her, and I was dying inside.”, you sit up on the mattress, wiping away the dried tears on your face with the hem of your green sweater.

“Yeah, Taehyung told me about it.”, he sighs, letting himself fall on the mattress on his bed, covering his tired face with both of his long, tapered hands. “But it’s not their fault. I mean, they don’t know about our… issue. It doesn’t make me feel better, though.”

“Jihyeon probably hates me.”, you mumble, and Yoongi removes his hands from his face to look at you with a confused look on his face. “I didn’t even want to see the ultrasounds. I just sat there, smiling awkwardly.”

“Taehyung probably hates me, too, then.”, Yoongi comments, as he gets up and starts undressing only to change into his pajamas. “Didn’t wanna see them either. I was the only one.”, he says, unzipping his jeans, as you stare at his half-naked body, because he looks just so gorgeous. “I know it shouldn’t bother me because, as I said before, it’s not their fault, but it’s just so hard to pretend you’re happy when you’re actually not.”, you nod, watching him slip into his pajama pants, the ones you’d bought him last Christmas. “I mean, of course I’m happy for him-“

“I get it.”, you interrupt him. “I feel that way too. I thought that I was just being selfish, though, and I feel so guilty.”, you stand up too, removing your sweater to change into one of Yoongi’s t-shirts, one of your favorite to sleep in.

You lay next to each other, body entangled in the soft cotton sheets, but with your eyes wide open, staring at the white ceiling. Yoongi’s fingers are intertwined with yours, but neither of you dares too speak, too absorbed in your thoughts. You just lay there, wide awake, in complete silence.

“Yoongi?”, you break the silence, but you don’t turn to look at him, too scared that the eye-contact might stop you from asking him what’s on your mind. “Would you still love me? If I couldn’t have kids, I mean… Would you still wanna be with me?”, your voice quivers as you speak the last few words.

“Jagiya.”, Yoongi sounds almost as if he’s scolding you. Little does he know that it’s your worst nightmare. You’re so scared that he’ll leave you if he finds out that you can’t give him the family he wants, that you won’t be carrying his children, that he’ll just leave you for another woman, one who can and will give him what you can’t. “I’ll love you no matter what. Forever. That’s what we promised to each other at the altar, and I do not intend to break that promise.”, his tone is serious, as if he’s almost offended by your question. “You’re the love of my life, jagiya.”

He hears you sniffle, and then he feels your body shift, until you hid your face in the crook of his neck, as he envelopes your body with his muscular arms, caressing your back to soothe you. “What if it’s me?”, he murmurs, his voice is so quiet you almost don’t catch what he says.

“What if it’s you what?”

He gulps hard, his eyes become watery. “What if I can’t give you kids? What if I am the problem?”, you feel something wet fall on your hair, and that’s how you realize that he’s crying. “What if…”, he chokes, “What if you wake up one day and realize that you’re just wasting your time with me? That you could have everything you ever wanted with another man?”

You lift your body to meet Yoongi’s eyes, before placing your cold hand on his cheek, making him shiver at the sudden feeling. “Yoongi…”, you brush the tip of your nose against his, “You’re all I ever wanted.”

☔︎

“Oh my God, we’re… the worst babysitters ever.”, you say between moans, as you sink down on Yoongi’s lap once more, allowing him to go even deeper.

You don’t know exactly how you and Yoongi ended up having sex in the backseats of his car, parked right in the path that runs along Taehyung and Jihyeon’s backyard. Thankfully, it’s dark outside and there’s no one around, otherwise you’d be screwed. Taehyung and Jihyeon had asked you and Yoongi to babysit little Jisung for the night so that they could enjoy some time for themselves.

You were right about to open the car door and ring the bell, when Yoongi pulled you in for what was, in the beginning, a peck on the lips. It then turned into a heavy make out session, and now you’re on his lap, legs spread wide, his veiny hands squeezing your thighs in such an erotic way it makes you shiver.

“Relax, jagi, we still got time. About ten minutes.”, he pants, eyes closed, as he bites his lower lip, focusing on how wet and soft you feel around him. “But I don’t know if I can last that long.”, he chuckles.

You let out a high pitched moan when he moves one of his hands from your thighs and places it on your exposed breasts, cupping one of your boobs, slightly pinching your nipple with his thumb and index, and you see him playfully smirk at you. “You’re so hot like this, jagiya.”, he grunts, snapping his hips up so that the tip of his dick roughly brushes against your g-spot, making you yelp once again. “I almost forgot how you feel around me.” he moans as he watches you bounce on top of him.

You and Yoongi didn’t have sex at all the past month and a half. Sure, you did other things, such as foreplay or occasional dry humping, but ever since you’d suggested a break from… trying, you haven’t gone all the way until tonight, when you both gave in to lust like a couple of horny teenagers.

“I’m gonna cum, jagi, are you close?”, Yoongi pants, his black hair is stuck on his sweaty face and it’s the hottest sight you’ve ever witnessed.

You nod, “Yes, so close.” Yoongi moves his other hand so that his thumb would brush against your clit, but you stop him before he can touch your sensitive spot. “No, I-“, you gasp for air, “I think I can cum just like this.”

Yoongi growls at the sound of your words, as he grips your hips, squeezing the flesh tight. “Fuck, you’re so hot. I’ve missed this so much, jagi, please cum on my dick, I’m so close.” As soon as he feels you clench and tighten around him, he squeezes his eyes shut, cussing under his breath. “Fuck, jagi, I’m close.”, he pants, “Lift yourself up, I’m about to cum.”, he bites his lip, gesturing for you to lift your body from his lap in case you didn’t want him to finish inside you. Instead, you pushed your body down, sinking onto him even more, so that his length fills you up completely. “Fuck, I’m-“, he’s cut off mid sentence by his breathtaking orgasm.

You stay there, in the backseats, you on top of Yoongi, both of you desperately trying to catch your breaths. Your arms are around his body, and you rest your head on his chest, as he runs a hand though your long hair. You feel his cum slowly drip out of you as he softens inside you, good thing you always carry wet wipes in your bag wherever you go, otherwise you’d be screwed.

“Get up, jagiya, we have to go now.”, Yoongi whispers in your ear. You hum in protest, but get up anyway, because you have a baby to babysit, otherwise you’d stay here with him, cuddled up to his chest, as he holds you tight.

“I’m sorry…”, he mumbles, as he zips his jeans and fixes his hair, and you look at him confused. “Because I…, you know, came inside.”, he gestures, visibly embarrassed, his cheeks blushing a little. He’s so cute.

“Why are you sorry?”

“Well, since you said you wanted to take a break from trying…”, he trails, but you get the point. “I wasn’t expecting… that,” he goes on “otherwise I’d have brought condoms or just, you know, finished somewhere else.”, he sounds guilty, and you hate that.

“Yoongi, love, it’s okay. I wanted it, I liked it.”, you reassure him “The whole taking-a-break thing was just because it was just too much to handle back then. I just needed some time. It’s okay, I promise.”, you kiss him on the lips, hoping that it’ll wash away all the guilt he’s feeling, and somehow it does.

“I love you.”, he places a soft peck on your lips.

“I love you too.”, you giggle, brushing your nose against his, “Now let’s go, Min Yoongi, we got a baby to babysit.”

Kim Jisung is an utterly adorable baby. He’s got the prettiest little eyes, and the softest gummy cheeks you ever squished, plus he’s always super calm and quiet, you barely heard him cry since he was born, except for when he was hungry. Taehyung’s always manifested his love for kids, and it really was no surprise to you all when he and his girlfriend announced the pregnancy after just a couple of years of dating, since he always rambled on and on and on about wanting to be a father while he was still in his twenties -technically, he wasn’t even twenty-five when his girlfriend gave birth to Jisung, but whatever.

Jisung sleeps quietly, as you and Yoongi watch him squeeze his favorite plushie in his tiny, adorable hands, and you can’t help but let out a sigh, that has Yoongi to quickly pull you into a hug from behind. “He’s just too cute.”, you smile at the precious baby boy, and you hear Yoongi hum in agreement. “He grew up so fast, though. It feels like yesterday when Taehyung called us, saying that Jihyeon was in labor.”

“Babies do grow up fast.”, he agrees with you. It’s kinda sad, though, isn’t it?”, Yoongi squeezes you tighter, eyes locked on sleeping Jisung. “They’re so cute, wish they could stay like this forever.”, he speaks as if he’s daydreaming -and he is.

“Bet you won’t be saying that when you’ll have to change, like, a million diapers per day.”, you and Yoongi jump at the sound of Taehyung’s voice. You’ve been too caught up in the moment to notice the rattling of the keys and the door opening. “But he is cute, I’ll give you that.”, he chuckles, placing the keys on the table, before helping Jihyeon, his fiancée, take off her coat. Her baby bump is showing already, and you wince at the sight, biting you cheek.

Taehyung immediately goes to the crib where his baby is peacefully asleep, and caresses Jisung’s puffy cheeks with his fingers. Little Jisung stirs at the feeling of his father. “Hi buddy, I’m back.”, he whispers to his son, completely and utterly in love.

“Tae, don’t wake him up.”, Jihyeon scolds him, getting closer to the crib as well, but watching her son from afar, not wanting to disturb his sleep any more.

“But I missed him.”, Taehyung pouts, unable to keep his hands off his son. “It’s so hard to stay away from him.”

“Did Jisung give you a hard time?”, Jihyeon smiles at you and Yoongi as she sits on the couch, caressing her belly.

You and Yoongi both shake your heads no. “No, he’s an angel. He’s so cute.”, your heart aches a bit at the thought of having to leave him soon.

“I wonder if baby number two is going to be so calm and peaceful, too.”, Jihyeon giggles, her hand still on her baby bump.

You wonder how it feels, to have a life growing inside of you. You haven’t got to experience that yet, and when your miscarriage happened you were only four weeks pregnant, and there had been no significant changes in your body.

“Sorry if we ruined your plans for the evening by asking you to babysit Jisung.”, Taehyung says, picking up his sleeping baby from the crib, before holding him closer to his body as little Jisung nuzzles into his chest, still not letting go of his plushie. “We didn’t know who else to ask.”, he kisses his son on the head. “Seokjin and Namjoon are out of town celebrating their hundredth anniversary or whatever, and Jungkook… well, I don’t trust him with my baby yet. He’s still a baby, for God’s sake.”, Taehyung jokes, making both you and Yoongi laugh.

“It was our pleasure.”, you reassure him. “We love Jisung, we had so much fun.”, there’s sadness in both your voice and your smile, Yoongi can feel it.

“Are you sure? Thought you might wanted to be alone.”, Jihyeon insists, but you shake your head once more.

“It’s fine, really. We really do enjoy spending time around Jisung. Plus Yoongi and I are alone 99% of the time anyway…”

Jihyeon and Taehyung quickly look at each other before looking away. Jihyeon clears her throat, “We just thought you were uncomfortable around babies?”, her voice comes out more like a question.

You and Yoongi both gulp hard, visibly taken aback. You are definitely not ready for this conversation. You and Jihyeon are close, yes, but you have always been the type of person to keep her personal stuff… well, private. You don’t like to share too much about your life, especially when it’s about sensitive topics like this.

Literally no one knows that you and Yoongi’ve been trying to have a baby. He’s close to Taehyung, he’s one of his best friends, but it’s not like they talk about these kind of things.

“We’re not.”, Yoongi simply says, hoping that it’d change the topic. His words are followed by and awkward, unbearable silence, until he clears his throat before he speaks again, “It’s getting pretty late, we’ve got plans for lunch so we have to be up early, we better get off.”

☔︎

You feel like you could faint right there on the spot when Jungkook’s new girlfriend, who just turned nineteen, confesses to you that she’s late. Late late. Like, her period’s late. A couple of weeks, actually. She stares at you with her big, doe eyes, and she looks like she’s about to burst into tears. Thankfully, Jungkook’s in the other room with Yoongi and the rest of your friends, and you and her, Nara, are completely alone.

“Have you…”, you clear your throat, clearly uncomfortable in this situation. Why did she decide to come to you? Sure, you and her are pretty close, and you almost look after as if you’re her big sister, but damn, that was quite straightforward. “Have you and Jungkook had unprotected sex?”, you ask, but deep down you already know the answer, otherwise she wouldn’t be in panic.

She bites her lower lip, guilty, as she nods. “Yeah, but only a couple of times. We didn’t have any condoms and were too caught up in the moment to think straight. He didn’t finish inside, though.”, she tries to find a silver lining, but you know that it could’ve been enough. She could be pregnant.

“You have to take a test.”, you tell her. “It could mean nothing though, my period’s late all the time, I should have had it three weeks ago” you shrug “But, you could also be pregnant. You have to take a test.”, you repeat.

The thought of Nara being pregnant too makes you feel sick. It’s as if everybody else is living your dream and you are just… watching.

“But please,” you sigh “don’t have unprotected sex again if you’re not ready for the consequences.” She nods in silence, knowing that you are right. You’re not really scolding her, you’re just looking out for her. Nara is young, too young to understand all the challenges that a teen pregnancy brings, and you wouldn’t want that for her. Especially because Jungkook and her’ve just started dating.

“Unnie?”, she asks after a couple of minutes of complete silence. “You said your period is late, too.”, she starts explaining herself. “I actually bought two pregnancy test, just in case. Why don’t we take them together? You said you’re late, too. It’d help me release some tension.”, she pulls out two pregnancy tests from her bag.

☔︎

You can’t believe you’re actually peeing on a stick right now. You don’t even remember the last time you took a test, and surely you weren’t expecting to take one now, on a random Saturday night, while your boyfriend was just downstairs, laughing and drinking with his friends.

Nara’s already taken her test, and placed it inside the box without looking at it -which is, in fact, the whole point of a pregnancy roulette-, so you do the exact same. You open the bathroom door to get Nara in, before closing and locking it to make sure no one disturbs you.

“Should we take a look?”, she asks, panic in her voice.

You nod, before taking both boxes in your hands, ready to pull out the tests and see the results. You just know you’re not pregnant, that’s why you’re not anxious or anything. Your period is always late, and this time it’s no exception.

“I’m scared.” Nara’s voice trembles, and she sounds like she’s about to cry.

You instantly pull her into a hug, and she finally lets a couple tears slip from her hazel eyes. “It’s okay, Nara.”, you pat her back. “It’s okay to be scared. I’m here. Breathe in, then breathe out”, you instruct her, hoping it’ll help her calm down a bit. “Whatever the tests shows, you’re not alone.”

She lets out a desperate whine. “What if I’m pregnant, though? My parents don’t even know I’m dating Jungkook, how am I going to explain a baby to them? What do I tell them?”

“Nara, calm down. You don’t even know if you are pregnant. And if you are, then I’m sure you and Jungkook’ll figure it out together.”, you pull away to wipe away some tears from her face. “He likes you very much. He’s not a dick, I know he wouldn’t leave you alone if you were pregnant with his child.”

She nods, convinced by your words. “Okay.”, she swallows her own saliva. “You’re right, unnie, thank you.”

“Ready to look?”, you ask.

She nods, before taking a deep breath. And you do too, even though you know you’re not pregnant. You can’t be. “Yeah, unnie. Let’s get this over with.”

You pull out the test from the box in one swift motion, before placing them on the sink, but they somehow slip and, when you recollect them, there’s absolutely no way you can tell which one’s yours. That’s when you accidentally look at the results.

Negative.

You take a look at the other test.

It’s positive.

Fuck.

☔︎

Yoongi literally throws himself on the bed, and you glare at him because you just hate it when he sits on the bed without changing his clothes first, especially since you changed the sheets this morning. He decides to ignore the look you’re giving him, playfully pushing you, making you fall back on the mattress. “Don’t give me that look, jagiya, I had the shittiest day today, I deserve a good sleep.”, he smirks, but you frown.

“What happened?”, you get closer to his warm body, nuzzling your face into his collarbone.

“I don’t know,” he sighs “my boss stressed me a bit too much, I guess.”, he places a kiss on top of your head. But you know Yoongi like the back of your hands, and you know that something else is definitely bothering him, he’s just not the type to stress too much about work. You lift your head to look at him. “What?”, he asks, not looking into your eyes, which is something he always does when he’s trying to hide something from you.

“Tell me what you are really upset about.”, you insist.

“I already told you.”, he frowns.

“Yoongi, sometimes you seem to forget we’ve been together for almost eight years. I know you.”, you tease him by playfully tickling his side, and he squirms under your touch.

“It’s fine, jagi, it’s nothing.”

“Tell me.”

He takes a deep breath. “It’s just that Jungkook told me something, and I just can’t seem to get it out of my head.” You gulp hard at the sound of his words. You know what he’s talking about, but Yoongi doesn’t know that you know.

“What is it?”, you hope he doesn’t sense the quiver in your voice, and he doesn’t. He’s too much inside his own head at the moment.

“I don’t want to talk about it, it’s stupid.”, he mumbles under his breath.

You sigh heavily. “Stop being so grumpy,” you playfully flick his head “tell me.”

“Fine.”, he gives up. He runs his hand through his hair, unsure whether he should even be telling you that. He doesn’t want to bring up the sensitive topic of pregnancy once again, but you’d find out soon anyways. “Jungkook told me Nara’s period is late.”, he blurts out, unable to look at you. “She hasn’t gone to the doctor yet, but Jungkook’s pretty positive she’s pregnant since they had unprotected sex this month.”

“Oh.”

“I didn’t want to tell you, jagi, but I figured that she’s going to tell the girls and you’d find out anyways.”, he sounds guilty, and he immediately wraps his strong arms around you to comfort you.

“Why are you upset, then?”, you ask, your voice is muffled by your face being pressed against his sweater.

He lets out a long, heavy sigh, as he lets go of your body. “I don’t know, it’s just…”, his head falls back on the soft pillow under his head “The thought of Jungkook becoming a father… I don’t know, it makes me wish I was in his place.”

“You wish you’d gotten Nara pregnant?”, you joke, and he chuckles.

“You know what I meant.”, he sighs. “I really can’t believe Jungkook’s going to be a father…”, he trails, covering his face with both of his hands out of frustration.

You stay quiet for a couple of minutes, in complete silence, before you speak. “Jungkook’s not going to be a father, Yoongi.”, you take a deep breath, “You are.”

Yoongi doesn’t say a thing. In fact, he doesn’t even move, he even stops breathing for a solid five seconds, before he sits up on the mattress and whispers an almost inaudible “What?”, and you already feel the tears starting to well up in your eyes as you get up from your shared king size bed and hurry to grab your purse. You then proceed to pull out a couple of pregnancy tests and a piece of paper Yoongi’s never seen before.

“I took one of these the other night.”, you start, showing him the positive pregnancy sticks, placing them on top of the duvet cover, “It started as a joke, I really didn’t think I could actually be pregnant.”

You tell him how Nara’d talked you into taking the test, and how only one of them showed two lines. You also tell him that, the next day, you’d bought two more pregnancy tests and took them first thing in the morning just to make sure, because you never know. You weren’t really expecting two pink lines to show up, and you tell him how you almost fainted right there on the spot. You also tell him that the next day, still shook, you went to the hospital to run some beta blood tests, that confirmed what the sticks’d been telling you all along.

You are pregnant. And what shook you even more was finding out that you are eleven weeks pregnant. You had never missed your period during the past months, however you had to admit it wasn’t like the other times. There was much less blood, and it only lasted a couple of days. You didn’t think that it’d be spotting from implantation.

“I didn’t go to the gynecologist, I wanted to tell you first. I want you there with me.” You don’t even realize you’ve been crying the whole time as you were telling Yoongi the whole story of how you found out you are soon going to welcome your baby to the world.

Yoongi’s crying too. His beautiful, pale skin is soaked in tears as he sniffles and clears his runny nose with the hem of his sweater. “Jagi…”, he sobs, pulling you close for a hug. “Are you serious? Is this real? You’re not joking, are you? Please, please tell me you’re not joking.”, he chokes. He’s so scared you’ll tell him that it’s some kind of sick prank, but it is not.

It’s all true.

“It is, Yoongi. It’s real. We’re having a baby.”, you sob too, soaking his clothes with the tears that are falling from your eyes, but neither of you care. You’ve been waiting so long for this moment, and you don’t care about a damn sweater getting wet.

“Lay down, jagiya, I want to hug you and our baby.”, he wipes some more tears from his beautiful, yet teary eyes.

You nod, laying down, sinking in your soft mattress, and you soon feel Yoongi’s hands pull down your pajama pants just so that he could have better access to your, still pretty imperceptible, baby bump. You muffle your sobs in the sleeve of your sweater as you feel him place a series of light kisses on your belly, before pulling your pants back on, muttering a “That’ll keep you warm” to the baby in your tummy.

He gets up only to change into some comfortable sweats and an oversized t-shirt, before returning to bed to lay next to you under the soft, vanilla scented sheets. He hugs you from behind, his warm hand drawing imaginary shapes on your belly. “I still can’t believe it, jagi, I’m so happy…”, he whispers, placing a kiss on your hair, “I’m going to be a dad.”, you can’t see him, but you know he’s probably smiling from ear to ear.

“Yeah, you are.”, you turn your head to kiss him on the lips. “And you’ll be the best appa, Yoongi.”

He stays quiet for a while, and you think that maybe he fell asleep, when he suddenly speaks again. “Wait, you said eleven weeks?”, he sounds like he’s thinking of something. You nod. “Jagiya… isn’t that when we… you know, in the car, before Taehyung’s house?”

Your eyes widen as you remember that night. Oops. Yup, that must definitely be the night you got pregnant, since you hadn’t had sex in the previous month. Even after that one time in your car, whenever you and Yoongi had sex he’d pull out last minute until you managed to convince him that you seriously were fine with him finishing inside -which took a while, surprisingly. So yeah, that night in the car has to be the night.

“Oh my God, jagiya, I can’t believe we made our baby in the backseats of our car.”, Yoongi chuckles, and you laugh too because really, what are the odds? You’ve had unprotected sex for the last years and you get pregnant the one time you do it in your car?

“Goodnight jagiya, sleep tight.”, Yoongi pulls you closer and kisses your cheek. He then slips one hand into your pajama pants to caress your belly. “Goodnight baby, sleep tight, appa loves you so much already.”

☔︎

Yoongi’s been extra affectionate since he found out he’s going to be a dad.

He asks you how you’re feeling at least ten times per hour, and when he’s not physically there with you, he texts you. It’s not only because he’s protective of you and your baby, but also because he wants to be even more involved in your pregnancy than he already is. He wants to know every little thing that’s happening in your life: every mood swings, every craving, every time you’re feeling nauseous, he just wants to know. He needs to know.

When you went to the gynecologist to make sure you are indeed pregnant, he asked a million questions to your doctor. You believe you won’t ever forget how his eyes were glistening when the obgyn confirmed that your baby is perfectly healthy and your pregnancy’s not at risk. He’s genuinely so happy to finally be able to share all this happiness with you, the love of his life, the mother of his child.

You both agreed you’d tell the news to your friends once you entered your second trimester, just to make sure everything was fine. The day you told them, they were all so happy and congratulated the both of you.

Yoongi bursted into tears when the doctor told you you were expecting a girl. He’d been emotional for the whole day and kept his hand on your belly all the time, caressing your bump as he talked to his daughter, telling her how much he loved her already and how he couldn’t wait to meet her.

“What do you think about Unmyeong?” Yoongi asks all of a sudden.

You’re in bed, Yoongi’s arm is around you and his hand is on your belly. You’re almost at the end of your third trimester now, and you’ve definitely gotten bigger. Still, you and Yoongi haven’t chosen the perfect name for your baby girl. You both kind of want a unique name for her, a name that represents what you feel for her.

“What?”, you ask him, confused.

“Unmyeong.”, he repeats. “For our baby girl. It means destiny.”, he explains.

You stay quiet for a while. Unmyeong. The more you think about it and repeat the name over and over in your head, the more you like it. Destiny.

“I think we were destined to have her, you know?” Yoongi murmurs, nuzzling against your back. “We went through a lot to have a family. But we’re here now, our baby girl’s due date’s in a couple of weeks, and I can’t help but think it’s the destiny that gifted us with her.”

His words make tears well up in your eyes, and you can’t help but believe he’s right. You were definitely destined to have her. After almost four years of negative pregnancy tests and desperate cries, you finally got what you’ve been praying for for so long.

You turn your upper body to meet Yoongi’s eyes, and notice they’re glistening as well. “I like it. Unmyeong… I like it.”, you smile at him.

“You do?”

You nod, smiling at him. “It’s perfect. The perfect name for our perfect baby girl. Min Unmyeong.”

A couple of tears fall from Yoongi’s eyes when he hears the full name for the first time. It’s real, it’s all real, finally. You feel him move under the sheets until he rests his head on your stomach, careful not to hurt you in any way.

“Hi Min Unmyeong. This is appa.”, you can’t stop the tears from streaming down your face as well. “I can’t wait to finally meet you, baby girl. I can’t wait for the three of us to be a family. I love you so much, baby girl. Now sleep tight and let your eomma rest well. Jal ja, baby girl.”

DONT EVER SAY LOVE ME (KNJ)

You're standing in the confined space of the elevator, staring blankly at the illuminated grid of glowing floor numbers. The lingering effects of novocain render your gums numb, their throbbing pulsations in sync with your pulse. Your jaw feels like it's just gone twelve rounds with a heavyweight boxer, thanks to the dentist spending what felt like forever yanking out your wisdom teeth. And you're three years overdue, just to add insult to injury.

All you crave now is some ice cream to soothe your aching mouth, and perhaps a nap, preferably with your face nestled against some ice. You're miles away in your thoughts when you hear someone call, “hold the elevator, please!”

Your hand automatically shoots out to jab the hold button and a man stumbles in, juggling a large box overflowing with what seems like recording equipment and sleek headphones. You faintly discern disjointed strings of Korean spilling from his lips – perhaps chastising himself for being in such a hurry.

“Thank you so much,” he pants between breaths. His radiant smile is so irresistibly infectious that despite the soreness in your mouth, you find yourself returning his grin.

He looks familiar; strangely familiar. Your brain is still fuzzy from the medication they gave you at the dentist, but it's hard to imagine that someone would flash such a charming smile unless they knew you personally.

Honey skin and full lips, he's dressed in an effortlessly stylish manner – wearing a gray crew neck sweater paired with dark jeans and clean white sneakers. His dark hair falls just above his brow, yet appears carefree enough to suggest he hasn't spent hours fussing over it - a masterful balance, no doubt.

He's still smiling at you and you realize that while lost in thought, you've continued to stare at him far longer than would be considered socially acceptable. But truthfully speaking, how can anyone blame you? In your defense, he’s 100% the most beautiful person you've seen up close in a long, long time.

His brown eyes are warm – eyes which radiate a warmth that pushes through the harsh, artificial glare of the elevator's fluorescent lighting and oh— dimples.

You muster all your strength to form a sentence, cotton stuffed in your mouth making it difficult to speak clearly. "Whath's…uh…all thuh 'quiment for?" you manage to say.

He hesitates briefly and glances between you and the box cradled in his arms, seeming to weigh his response carefully.

"It's for a friend of mine," he explains, looking back up at your curious gaze.

"They're really into music and…well, you know…Stuff."

"Mmm," you mutter through the cotton wad while nodding. " 's nice." another grin flashes across his face – and damn if he doesn't also have a perfect set of teeth. How fucking unfair. The sheer injustice of it all!

And there you are, probably gawking like a thirsty fish—which is not far off from your reality as you feel drool trickling from your mouth and onto your chin. Swiftly, you cover your mouth with your hand - too little too late.

"I'm Namjoon, by the way," he says just as the elevator grinds to a halt on your floor, and with a gentle chime, the metallic doors glide apart.

You nod politely, giving a small, uncertain bow – unsure if that's even the right gesture. His smile shifts to one of sympathy as he bids you farewell: "Hope you feel better soon."

Unbelievable! Not just drool worthy but kind as well—how?!

This fact leaves you feeling both mortified and bewildered in equal measure. Eager to extricate yourself from this awkward encounter, you rush out of the elevator and sprint down the hallway leading to your apartment.

Your fingers rapidly tap in the keypad code on your door, allowing you quick access inside.

Still reeling from sheer mortification and disbelief, you beeline for the kitchen in search of anything that could provide relief for your swollen cheeks. A bag of frozen peas seems like an excellent option, and you rummage through your freezer until you locate it.

When turning around with your newly acquired remedy in hand, you suddenly find yourself staring back at your reflection in a nearby mirror - cheeks puffed out like chipmunk storing food and a slimy line of drool soiling your shirt. You can't help but sigh dejectedly: well, fuck.

With an expletive escaping your lips in frustration - though muffled by the cold bag of peas that now presses against your face - you let out a feeble groan of self-pity.

Here's hoping this big wide world has enough space for you and your hot neighbor to never cross paths ever again.

The next time you see Namjoon, you're standing in the lobby, balancing a heavy cardboard box full of groceries.

This time, you're relieved there's no cotton stuffed in your mouth and no trace of drool. But you're struggling against gravity to keep your balance in front of the elevator doors when they finally and suddenly spring open.

Before your brain can fully register the situation, the echo of hurried footsteps draws nearer from behind, followed by a deep, soothing voice.

"Hey, let me help you with that."

You slowly pivot around to face the voice, and there he is: Namjoon stands tall in a bucket hat and a face mask, both of which obscure his features.

His towering stature effectively eclipses most of the elaborately decorated lobby as he extends his arms toward the heavy box.

You're acutely aware of the way the tips of his fingers brush against your skin as he lifts the box effortlessly from your grip and fluidly steps into the gleaming elevator beside you.

He presses the button for your floor, then repositions the box for comfort as he holds it securely against his broad chest. For a brief moment, he rests it on the polished railing within the elevator before using his now-free hand to lower his face mask.

His smile widens a fraction as he recognizes the confused look on your face.

"What?"

"Nothing," you shake your head, trying to clear the disorientation from your mind. "Just thank you, that's all."

He nods at that, eyes lighting up like some cosmic event - nothing less than your personal big bang moment playing out right here in your building’s elevator.

He hoists the box back into his arms, the unmistakable flex of his muscles catches your attention; it takes all your willpower not to let your gaze linger for too long.

"All good," he smiles, as usual. There's a glint of curiosity in his eyes, and they're bright and sparkling, seemingly intent on taking in every feature of your face; as if trying to commit every detail to memory.

You see that his eyes are dark and his lips are turned up and his smile is so adorably crooked that it makes your heart jump in your throat because how could the universe be this kind?

With a warmth creeping up your cheeks, you force yourself to look away – as though focusing on the illuminated numbers lighting up above the doors would help alleviate the butterflies playing tag in your belly.

It's a futile attempt, but one you cling to nonetheless.

The soft hum of the elevator fills the silence between you two as it continues to climb to higher floors.

"Been in Seoul long?" he cuts through the quiet.

"Oh. Yeah, a couple of weeks now? Work stuff," you respond, briefly making eye contact before shifting your gaze back to the elevator buttons.

"Ah, I see. How are you liking it so far?"

"I like it. Seoul is pretty nice. Lots to do and see, but kinda overwhelming sometimes," you admit.

He nods thoughtfully. "Seoul can be tough to navigate at first, but I'm sure you'll find your footing soon enough."

The elevator finally reaches your floor, and the doors slide open with a soft chime.

Namjoon carefully steps out into the hallway while still cradling the heavy box in his arms.

"Thank you again for your help," you say gratefully as you both walk towards your door.

"It's my pleasure. Always happy to help neighbors," Namjoon says, giving you another warm smile.

Punching your access code into the doorstep keypad, the door gives a satisfying click and swings open, granting you entry into your home.

Namjoon's following right behind you, shooting you a kind of shy grin that says he's not quite sure if he's intruding. He steps in carefully, shoes left dutifully by the entrance.

You shut the door, leaving the world outside, and watch him soak up your living space — his eyes roam from wall to wall, taking in everything from photos in their shiny frames to the worn-out rug under your feet to the dash of green from the potted plants by the window.

Stepping out of your own shoes, you quickly clear your throat to dispel any lingering nervousness.

"Uh, you can put the groceries on the counter over there," you gesture somewhat awkwardly towards the kitchen area.

Namjoon strolls into your space confidently, while you linger in the doorway watching him move around inside your house.

He reaches the island counter that dominates a portion of the kitchen space and carefully places the box down upon it. The sight of him standing in your kitchen ignites a pleasant warmth to bloom in your chest, although you can't help but appreciate his broad back and the way those jeans hug his—no. Focus. Focus.

"Do I help or are you kicking me out already?" he quips, not waiting for a response before he starts reaching into the box to pull out your items. Your eyes grow wide at his initiative but he only grins wide and teasing at your surprise.

Oh, god. There's no way you can avoid melting under that smile.

Get it together. He's just helping with the groceries. You bite your lip to stifle a giggle, trying to hold it together.

"No, I could use some help. Thank you," you say, managing to sound more composed than you feel.

And so you join him, your bodies brushing against each other unintentionally as you both navigate through the tight spaces of your kitchen - quick glances exchanged and shy smiles adorning both your faces.

It feels sort of like he owns the place already. There's something very powerful about that thought -- that this person might actually belong here with you someday. Ridiculous really, considering you barely remember him from last week's encounter, with you looking like some bizarre cotton-stuffed troll no less.

But he stands there so gracefully putting away your items, and his fingers brush between yours when he hands you items out of the box, and all these things somehow make your heart play its own little drum solo each time.

It’s not long before your initial nervousness fades away completely.

"What about you?" you ask. "What do you do for work?"

"Well," he says, carefully stacking the canned goods in your pantry.

He hesitates for a moment before answering, "I work… In business management at an office nearby."

He doesn't quite meet your eyes as his voice trails off.

"Oh, cool. Been doing that long?"

He pauses thoughtfully, his eyes momentarily drifting away before locking back onto yours. "10 years now?"

There's a brief flicker of uncertainty in his eyes before it vanishes as quickly as it appeared—

"Damn, it looks like one of us is doing enough for both," Namjoon teases, holding up two wine bottles from the last of your grocery bags. "Quite a collection for someone who just moved in."

A giggle rushes up to your lips while your head shakes in denial. "It's nothing much, honestly. Just like a glass or two after work. You drink?"

Namjoon grins at your response, leaning against the kitchen counter with a bottle in each hand. "Now and then, I appreciate a good wine. My experience is more on the Korean liquors though."

Your eyebrows lift intrigued, "Korean liquors?"

He nods, setting down the bottles on the counter with a soft clink. "Yeah, you know, like soju, makgeolli, cheongju."

"Soju - that's familiar. But the rest…not so much," you muse aloud, resting your chin delicately on folded hands.

"Well," he rocks back and forth on his heels as he returns the bottles back to their chilled home - your fridge – following up with a casual proposition, "When you're ready to try something new, just let me know. Korean liquors are quite…different."

"Hmm?” a smile pulls at the corners of your mouth before breaking into full bloom, "I'll hold you to that."

His eyes twinkle and he smiles back at you. "Can't wait," is all he says before going back to tidying up your pantry.

Your eyes wander to him before you can stop yourself, observing him for a moment as he continues organizing your pantry.

His shirt rides up subtly as he stretches on his tiptoes, revealing a sliver of his abdomen and the Calvin Klein label peeking out from the waistband of his jeans. A thin layer of perspiration creeps across the back of your neck - so is this how a turn-on heart attack feels like?

Everything about Namjoon seemed perfectly put together—considered— and yet there is an elegance about him that makes him seem more than what meets the eye.

You find yourself engrossed in every bit of him: outstretched arms that seemed capable of embracing the world, shoulders that peeked from underneath his thin shirt claiming his space confidently; broad legs that filled his pants as if they'd been molded for him alone…every inch of him seemed to be sculpted out of porcelain or marble or some other entirely beautiful material that didn't actually exist in real life.

Okay, so maybe your heart is doing summersaults. So maybe you were crushing just a tad.

You yank your wandering eyes away, afraid you'll get caught if you let them linger too long.

You’re here for business, not pleasure.

When the last grocery bag is emptied, Namjoon's arms reach high above his head in an over-the-top stretch, an exaggerated grunt escaping his lips. His gaze glides past you, landing on the sun-filled window showcasing your plants neatly lined in a row.

With curiosity lighting his eyes, he wanders over to investigate, humming a soft tune under his breath. He crouches down, his fingers delicately tracing the edges of each leaf.

"These are beautiful," he murmurs softly, almost as if speaking to the plants themselves. "Do you have a favorite?"

You walk over to where he is and consider his question for a moment before nodding and pointing towards a thriving Monstera deliciosa. Namjoon's smile grows wider as he looks at the plant, clearly appreciating your choice.

"I guess they're kind of like my non-human roommates. They keep me company when no one's around." You muster a lighthearted laugh before adding, "At least they're quieter than most people."

His fingers gently graze the leaves, a faint smile forming on his lips.

Your heart fluttered at the sight - him crouching there with sunlight hitting his skin just right, giving it this radiant golden hue that artists would have wept over. He couldn't be real.

Your train of thought is suddenly derailed by a buzzing noise. Namjoon, standing in an instant, reaches into his back pocket and retrieves his phone. He scans over the screen, sighs, then runs a hand through his hair in frustration.

"I hate to do this," he starts, sounding genuinely sorry. "But I gotta go. It looks like I'm working late tonight."

"Oh, it's fine!" you dismiss lightly with a flick of your hand despite feeling strangely disappointed about him leaving.

"Thanks for your help," you manage to say with a smile even though you felt a drag in your gut.

You had gotten far too comfortable around him and his sudden departure made you realize how greedy you were being. You weren’t staying in Seoul forever after all. Such strong anticipation already - what are you expecting?

But Namjoon's smile is warm, appreciative.

His eyes survey you for a second, seemingly as if he's contemplating something, before they flicker back to his phone screen.

His thumb flicks across it, quickly unlocking it before he offers the device to you, the blank keypad glowing bright against your surprised eyes. "How about you give me your number?" he asks casually, his smirk gaining confidence at your stunned silence.

"Y’know…just in case those grocery bags get too heavy again."

Way Back Home | Jjk | Part One

“Thank you so much for taking care of the kids” You told Miyeon. You recently moved back to Seoul a few weeks ago because you got hired for a big assisting job.

You reconnected with Miyeon a year after you moved away when she was on vacation in Jeju with her boyfriend. She ran into you at one of the markets during one of your days off from the bakery your mom opened up while you finished school.

It wasn’t SNU, but it was better than not graduating at all.

She was surprised to see you walking around with two little babies in a stroller that looked way too familiar for her liking.

Of course, you told her what happened and why you disappeared out of nowhere. She wanted to punch the living daylights out of Jungkook but you told her it's not his fault.

He doesn't know.

She luckily kept your secret, but she’s always encouraged you to come back and try to make things right with Jungkook.

You knew she was right, but you were scared.

And that fear led you to be away for 6 years now.

Living in Jeju was relaxing and your kids grew up in a warm environment. But you'd admit, you miss the city life. You miss your life back in Seoul.

Which is what led you here, your aunt was able to get you an interview with this man named Kim Seokjin. She’s an interior designer and so happened to convince him to give you a chance.

You were able to land an interview which was luckily held over call.

At first you didn't think you got the job, much to your disdain. But then a few weeks ago, you got a call from him asking you to start in a week.

Of course, it was a hassle to move around from the island to the mainland, especially with two little kids. But you managed. Your mom helped you find a nice two bedroom apartment for a decent price.

You saved up lots of money from working at the bakery and a waitressing job, so you were able to rent it out for the first few months.

But that can only last for so long, you need this job.

“Don’t worry, Y/N-ah. They’re in good hands” Miyeon told you.

You looked at your two kids who were drawing on the kitchen table while you told Miyeon what she had to do to take care of them. They are starting first grade in a few weeks.

Your daughter Jiyeon is a force to be reckoned with. You and Jungkook were relatively quiet and introverted people but it seems like she didn't take that after you. She’s friendly and loud and loves to talk to people.

Her twin brother, Jayeon, on the other hand, he’s much quieter. It’s probably because of when they were younger. Jiyeon was the one who was able to play with the kids more often while Jayeon stayed behind.

Of course, she hung around him as much as she could. They were practically inseparable. But they had their moments when they’d be apart.

When you were giving birth to the two of them. You struggled a lot. Jiyeon came out first and you can tell she was eager to be in the world. But Jayeon had a harder time.

He was born with a heart defect.

He struggled to breathe easily, and often got tired. He used to faint a lot when he was younger. You even had to get him surgery once when he was three years old because he suddenly collapsed while he was at daycare. It was a close call, the doctor told you. If you didn't bring him in, it would’ve definitely been more critical.

Ever since then, he was limited to doing certain things. At least until he can get another surgery to perfect it.

But it costs a lot. And you don't have enough money to pay for it.

Which breaks your heart every day when you see him sitting alone while the other kids are out playing.

You keep him company and try to do things with him as much as you can. But he gets bored easily unless he’s doing things with his sister or something on his own.

If anything, he’s the one keeping you company. He tries to stay with you as much as he can when you're around.

After almost losing him that one time, you never felt more fear in your life. You never thought you'd fear the loss of your child.

You walked over to your kids and bent down to look at them. They both gave you identical bunny smiles, something that reminds you so much of their father.

“You two will be good for Auntie Miyeon, okay?” They both nodded their heads before you pointed to both of your cheeks.

They both leaned in and gave you kisses at the same time.

“Bye, my babies”

“Bye Eomma!” They say at the same time.

You got up and walked back over to Miyeon. You gave her a quick hug. “Good luck on your first day” She whispered.

You nodded your head before walking out of her house.

You hailed a taxi and told the driver your destination. Seokjin told you to meet him at the new company building that they recently built.

His boss apparently just bought it, that's why you had to wait a week to start.

It’s still under some renovations but some of their workers and the CEO are already back at work.

You don't know who your boss is, but your aunt told you that it's a well known company. Seokjin told you he wanted you to meet the person you’ll be assisting before you sign the contract.

Of course that's understandable, you wouldn't want to work with someone who’s an asshole. But at the same time, you need the money.

Oh whatever, what’s the worst that can happen?

You stepped out of the taxi after paying the driver. Here you are, standing in front of the large company building. Since it’s recently bought, there isn't any company name on it yet.

You just hope this will work out.

You walked into the building, nervously fidgeting with your hands. There were people bustling around everywhere, even if it's just the lobby. You walk up the lady sitting behind the reception desk and she kindly smiled at you.

“Hi, how can I help you?” She asked. You nervously clear your throat.

“Uh, I’m here to see Kim Seokjin?” You replied.

“Oh you must be the new hire! I’m Soo-ah, I’ll be the one training you if the boss ends up liking you.” She told you honestly. The way she spoke about the boss, you can tell she was intimidated by him.

“Is he that bad?” You ask.

She shrugs. “Sometimes, he can be nice but he’s uptight. Apparently he wasn't like that before, but something changed him.”

You bit your lip. You looked around the lobby to see a bunch of people wearing white lab coats. This reminds you of when you used to visit Jungkook. There were people running around with lab coats and suits, trying to finish their new product.

Jungkook said that it was like that all the time. You wonder how much stress they undergo.

“Oh Y/N, you're here!” You heard from behind you. Turning around, you feel yourself gape at the sight of the man in front of you. Of course you saw him over video call but seeing him in person is another thing.

“Hello to you too, Soo-ah” Seokjin said to the girl behind the desk. She blushed and looked away. You raise your brow at the interesting exchange but shrug it off.

It’s none of your business.

“Ready to go?” He asks. You take a deep breath and nod your head.

“Great, he has a meeting in half an hour so that's perfect enough time to introduce the two of you.”

He starts walking to the elevator as you struggle to keep up with his long strides. You turn your head to Soo-ah, who in return gives you a thumbs up in encouragement.

You gulp, anxiety completely taking over your body. You have to do well, for Jayeon and Jiyeon.

As you enter the elevator, you glance around at the spacious metal box with a window behind you looking at the view of the city. You missed Seoul with all your heart.

It’s been 6 years since you’ve been home. All the memories suddenly make you nostalgic. You can’t wait to make more memories with your kids.

“When did you come to Seoul?” You heard Seokjin ask. You turn towards him with a timid smile.

“Two weeks ago, I grew up here but it seems like I forgot everything. It just looks different in some places.” You told him honestly. Of course there are still some similarities, but the added buildings and different styles caught you off guard when you came back.

“I get what you mean, I was the same when I came back from the States.” He told you. You nodded your head.

“How long were you there?” You asked him, you were almost on the floor where the CEO’s office is located. This conversation is helping you calm your nerves a bit.

“Ah, 4 years. I was there with the CEO for a little over two years before he came back here to take over the company.”

Opening your mouth in an “O” in understanding, you saw that the elevator stopped at the 73rd floor. The second highest floor.

You gulp before following Seokjin out. You guys walk down the large hall and see a woman standing in front of the door.

“Mr. Kim” She kindly says with a bow. She gives you a smile before bowing to you. You return it before looking at the large mahogany doors.

“Y/N, this is my assistant Yun-seo. You’ll see her a lot, along with Soo-ah.” He told you.

You gave her a bow again, trying to be respectful. Suddenly the elevator rang, announcing someone else coming up to the floor.

You turn around only to be surprised to see Taehyung walking towards you with papers in his hands.

He didn't look up yet. You tilt your head in confusion at the sight of your brother here. He was wearing a dress shirt and black slacks while he was reading over the words on the pages.

“Oh, Taehyung-ah” Seokjin said. The man snapped his head up and you notice his eyes widen at the sight of you.

Taehyung often visited you in Jeju. The kids loved him and even tried to sneak away to come with him back to Seoul once. You can imagine their reaction when you told them you’re moving here.

Taehyung even helped you move in and took care of the kids while you got settled.

But that was two weeks ago. He’s been busy with work so you haven't been able to see him lately. He still talks with you and the kids everyday.

You knew his job was more demanding since apparently a lot of people got transferred to the new Headquarters.

You now realize that this place is the headquarters he works at.

He walked up to the two of you and gave you a worried look. You tilt your head in question, not knowing why he was staring at you like that.

“This is Y/N, Sir’s new assistant.”

“Mr. Kim, he’s ready for you” Yun-seo interrupted. He nodded his head before knocking at the door. You faintly heard someone saying “Come in” but it was too muffled to hear the voice behind it.

“Ready?” He asks. You nod and he opens the door. You were about to join him when you felt someone grab your wrist.

“Tae?” You ask him. He looks at you worriedly before looking at the door.

“Y/N-ah, this isn't a good idea.” He told you. Raising your brow, you wonder why he’s saying this.

“Tae, I need this job. You know this.”

He sighed and let go of you. He walked in first before you took a deep breath and followed him.

You were walking closely behind Taehyung that you couldn't see the person who’s gonna be your new boss. Until he moved away from you and you felt your heart drop in your stomach when the familiar looking doe eyes made contact with you for the first time in 6 years.

You felt your breath get caught in your throat. This is what Taehyung was trying to warn you about.

You look at your brother with a panicked look but he wasn’t looking at you. Taehyung works for Jungkook. How the hell did you not know this?

“Jungkook-ah, this is the assistant I was telling you about.” Seokjin said with a smile. Jungkook stared at you with no expression, causing tingles to go up your spine.

You’ve imagined what he would say to you. You expected yelling, crying, something. But no, he looked at you like he didn't know you. You don't know what was worse.

You bow out of respect. Knowing he’s still your boss, despite your past together.

“My name is Kim Y/N, I’ll be sure to do a good job.”

Seokjin left the room, while you and Taehyung were the only two people left with Jungkook.

It was silent, you can feel the tense atmosphere.

“What are you here for?” Jungkook’s deep voice suddenly said. You thought he was talking to you but his gaze was locked on your brother.

Taehyubg cleared his throat before placing down a file onto his desk.

“It’s the work you asked for last night.” Jungkook nodded his head. He turned to you and his expression went back to the same stone cold look.

You see two pairs of his doe eyes everyday full of warmth and love. But looking at those eyes that hold nothing but disdain…

It made your heart break.

But you know you deserve it.

“You can leave.” He said. You snapped your head at him wondering if you heard correctly. “But–”

“Did I stutter? I said leave, I don't want to work with you.”

You felt your heart drop in your chest.

“Jungkook-ah” Taehyung said. The two best friends looked at each other, having an unspoken conversation while you stood there shaking.

If he really doesn't let you work, what the hell are you going to do? This job was pure luck to find. It'll be difficult to find another job.

You have bills to pay, children to take care of…

“You agreed to get to know her.”

“I already know her, that's why I don't want it work with her.”

You let out a deep sigh. “Jungkook–” You started.

“It’s Mr. Jeon to you.” He interrupted. You knew he was angry. After leaving him like that, out of nowhere, you would be too.

“Mr. Jeon, please I need this job…” You pleaded. He scoffed before running a hand through his hair.

He was still so handsome after all these years. He grew up, looks more mature. He now has a lip ring and tattoos on his hand. You wonder if he got the sleeve he’s always wanted.

You mentally cursed yourself for thinking like this.

“That’s not my problem.” He said, icily. You looked at Taehyung with tears in your eyes.

He shook his head before looking down. There’s not much he can do, what Jungkook says, goes. Even if they're best friends.

“What can she possibly do for me? She can easily leave without a word and what will we do?” He accuses. You know what he was talking about. After you broke up with him, you disappeared from him. Completely leaving the life you had behind to raise your children and to ensure Jungkook gets to achieve his goals.

You took a breath and kneeled down onto the floor. You bent down and placed your hands on the ground and bent your head.

“Please just give me a chance.” You pleaded. You felt a tear run down your face and quickly wiped it with your sleeve.

Taehyung and Jungkook looked at each other alarmed before your brother bent down to help you stand up. You stumbled a bit on your feet but you held your head high. “Y/N-ah, don't do this. It’s not worth it.” He told you.

Jungkook still hasn't said anything, you bent your head down and took a breath. You knew Taehyung was right, Jungkook wouldn't waver.

You bow one more time. “I’m sorry I couldn't meet your expectations.” You said before turning around to leave.

This was all too familiar, you leaving an office with bad news.

“Wait.” You heard, just as you’re about to leave. You turn around, not looking him in the eyes. If you do, you’ll start crying.

“One week. If you can keep up and do what needs to be done in one week, you can keep the job.” Jungkook said. Your eyes light up in excitement before you bow again.

“Thank you, thank you so much!” You told him. He rolled his eyes before looking down at his watch.

“Now leave, I have to go to a meeting. Be here tomorrow at 7:00.” He told you.

You nodded your head before making your way out, Taehyung looked at his best friend with a small smile.

“What?” Jungkook asked.

“Nothing.” Taehyung replied before walking out to catch up with you.

You were waiting at the door of the elevator when Taehyung walked up beside you. You turn towards him with a scowl.

“Why the fuck didn’t you tell me?” You angrily whispered. Worried Jungkook would hear you.

He rolled his eyes before stepping into the elevator that just opened the doors. You followed him inside as you both descended to the lobby.

“You’ve barely talked about him in 6 years, I don’t think you’d appreciate it if I told you that I’m working with your baby daddy” He said. You punched his chest a few times.

“Shut up! Someone can hear you!”

He chuckled before locking your head in one of his arms. He tightened his arm around your neck, causing you to struggle to get free.

“There’s nobody here and the security cameras only see pictures, there’s no sound” He told you. Your annoying ass brother let out a groan when you elbowed him in the stomach to set you free.

The elevator opened the doors to the ground level and you hurried out before your twin could do something else to you.

Unfortunately for you, he quickly caught up. He wrapped his arm around your shoulder.

“So what are you gonna do now?”

“I’m gonna pick up Jay and Yeonie, I promised them ice cream when I get back.” You told him with a smile.

“I’ll come with you, it’s my lunch break anyways” He said, letting you go. You squint your eyes at him.

“You're just trying to take my children again.”

He shrugged with a smile. You two were walking towards the exit when you heard someone call out Taehyung’s name.

Turning around you see Jimin and Soo-ah waving him over to her desk. Taehyung gestured to you to follow him, much to your chagrin but since he has a car and offered to come with you, you didn't seem to have a choice.

“Jimin-ah!” He said. Said man looked at you in surprise when you appeared in his line of vision.

“Y/N?”

You gave him a tense smile. “Hi” You softly waved. He let out a laugh before bringing you into his arms for a hug.

“It's been so long!” He said excitedly. “It’s so good to see you”

He was close with Jungkook, you’re surprised that he’s like this. “It’s good to see you too, Chim” You replied before breaking away.

“You guys all know each other?” Soo-ah asked surprised. Jimin nodded his head.

“Yeah! We all went to college together!”

She nodded her head and clapped excitedly. “Looks like we’ll all get along great!” You liked her enthusiasm but at the same time, it’s been so long. You don't know if things are the same anymore.

“So where are you two headed?” Jimin asked. You were hesitant to answer but Taehyung beat you to it.

“Ice cream, wanna join?” He asked. You looked at him surprised.

He looked at Soo-ah and Jimin expectantly but you felt nervous. You didn't want Jungkook to find out about the twins yet. It’s not like you didn’t trust Jimin but…

You just know it's something that you have to be the one to tell him about.

“Awe, I can't. I have to sort out some calls before I go on break.” Soo-ah replied with a pout.

“Sure, I’ll come.” Jimin said. “We’ll bring you back some, don't worry”

She nodded her head before waving you guys off. The three of you walked towards the parking garage outside of the building.

You felt nervous. “Don’t worry. He knows about the twins” Taehyung said from beside you. You look at him with wide eyes.

“He’s the one who drove me to the airport when Jayeon went into emergency surgery. I didn't have a car then so I had to ask him.” You nodded your head in understanding.

“I didn't tell Jungkook, if that's what you're wondering. Taehyung-ah told me what happened and why you left. I don't blame you for making that decision. I would've done the same if I were you.” Jimin said. You gave him a watery smile before leaning in for a side hug as you guys walked towards Taehyung’s Palisade.

“Thank you, Jimin-ah” You said to him. He squeezed your side before opening the door for you.

You were always close to Jimin when you were still with Jungkook. He was the one friend you were always down to hang out with.

You feel bad because you had to leave him too.

You guys held a light conversation as you spoke about Jeju and they spoke about the last few years here in Seoul. It made you a little sad because you weren't here to experience it but you wouldn't have changed your decision for anything else.

Although your heart aches from time to time, you’re happy.

Taehyung parked right in front of your apartment building. The three of you walked out of the car and entered the building to go to your floor.

Once you’ve reached, you quickly tapped in the code and made your way inside.

But what you see, shocks you. Miyeon was wearing a dinosaur onesie and your kids were running around the room, trying not to be caught by her.

Even Jayeon was playing, much to your surprise.

“Mommy!” He said. He was about to walk to you but suddenly he stumbled after a step and fell onto the floor, holding his chest.

“Jayeon-ah” You say, hurriedly making your way to him.

He was breathing hard. You held him close to your chest as Jiyeon came over.

“Jay Jay, copy my breathing” Her little voice says. She starts taking deep breaths as she made eye contact with her brother. The two were doing the same breathing patterns before he calmed down.

“Are you alright, bug?” You asked him. He nodded his head before leaning back on your chest. You hugged him close.

Miyeon nervously came up to you. “I’m sorry, we weren't playing for long–I didn't think”

You shook your head and softly hushed her. “It’s okay, it happens sometimes. It’s not your fault.”

She nodded her head before looking up to see Taehyung and Jimin standing there. “Woah what the fuck?”

“Auntie, that's a bad word!” Jiyeon scolded, Miyeon covered her mouth with her hand and mumbled a sorry.

She sat down beside you and leaned in. “What is Jimin doing here?” She whispered.

“Uncle Tae!” The twins said. Your brother laughed before picking the two kids up in his arms.

“I heard you guys want ice cream?” He asked. They cheered out before Jiyeon turned to you.

“Eomma, can I get rainbow sprinkles on mine?” You laugh at her cuteness before nodding.

“You can have all the rainbow sprinkles you want, but you have to promise to eat your veggies later.” You lightly scolded her. She frowned before nodding.

Jayeon looked up and saw Jimin standing behind Taehyung.

“Who are you?” He asked. Taehyung set down the kids and they both walked up towards Jimin.

He bent down to be at the same height as them. “I’m your Uncle Jimin, I’m friends with your mom and your uncle.” He replied. They looked at him with wide eyes, exactly like their fathers.

Jiyeon looked like you, but had Jungkook’s eyes. But Jayeon, he was a splitting image of Jungkook. You guys had the best of both worlds.

“And guess what?” He whispered. They leaned in when he urged them to come closer.

“I’m the one who’s gonna buy you ice cream, with extra toppings!” He bribed. They both smiled and hugged him excitedly.

“You don’t have to do that, I can pay” You told him. He shook his head before looking back at the kids. “Nah it’s cool, it’s my first gift to them.”

He smiled at you before you let out a breath. “Come on, let’s get you both changed.” You urged the kids. You watched as they both quickly moved to their room. “No running” You said and they laughed out an apology. After what just happened to Jayeon, you didn’t want him to feel worse.

“Nice outfit” Taehyung teased Miyeon. She rolled her eyes before unzipping it to reveal her other clothes beneath.

“Do you want to come?” You ask her with a small smile. She looked back at the two before locking eyes with you.

“Fineeee”

The twins came back out, wearing matching jackets but different colours and the same pants. They’ve been wanting to dress themselves but it appears they still choose to wear the same things.

“Remember when we did that?” Taehyung asked. You rolled your eyes at him before punching him in the gut.

“You copied me on purpose!” You said to him. He laughed before shrugging his shoulders.

Your kids walked up to you and grabbed each one of your hands. “Let’s go!” Jayeon said.

“Be patient, Jay Jay” Jiyeon scolded again, making Jayeon pout. She’s just like you. The adults laughed at them before you all piled out of the apartment.

The ice cream store was only a block away from your apartment. There was also a hotteok stand right in front of it and you know it’ll make a good combination.

Once you guys arrived, the twins wasted no time and immediately started to order from the old man behind the counter. You can see the fondness in his eyes as the two adorable kids talked to him.

“Are you ready for tomorrow?” Taehyung asked. You nervously glanced at him before taking a breath.

Miyeon and Jimin look at you with a worried expression. “What’s happening tomorrow?”

“I’m gonna start working for Jungkook.” You replied. Miyeon looked at you with wide eyes. Jimin looked at Taehyung, knowing this cannot be good.

“He’s giving me a week to see if I’m reliable enough to be his assistant, and if I am, then he’ll hire me.”

“Oh that’s bullshit, he’s been needing an assistant for weeks ever since his old one retired. He’s been a mess and Jin-hyung’s assistant can’t do it all for the two of them.” Jimin says. You shrug before making your way to an empty table so you can sit down with your kids.

“He wasn’t going to hire me at first, but he changed his mind. He’s probably doing this for spite before he actually lets me go. Not like I would blame him of course”

Taehyung and Jimin look at each other. That’s what they’re worried about. Jungkook was a mess after you left him and they know how much resentment he holds for you. There are things you don’t know about him, things that happened after you left.

They just hope he’s wrong.

“He can’t be that bad” Miyeon tried being optimistic.

Jimin shook his head. “He’s not the same guy we knew back then. Just…Try your best. And if he decides he doesn’t want you around, we’ll help you find another job.”

You nod your head before looking at your kids who were sitting in the booth and eating their ice cream. They were in their own little world. You’re happy they get along well. They were almost just like you and Taehyung.

Suddenly, Taehyung and Jimin’s phones pinged. They both look at it with a forlorn expression before looking at each other. Your brother let out a long sigh.

“Hey, we gotta go. Jungkook is looking for us.” He said. You nod your head before waving them goodbye. The twins quickly hugged their uncles goodbye before they left.

Now it was you, the twins and Miyeon.

“Are you going to be okay?” She asked. You let out a sad sigh and glanced at the kids again.

“I have to be…For them.”

The last week has been…Stressful.

You were almost late on your first day because the daycare you were going to drop off the kids at didn’t have all your paperwork done. So you had to do that, and Jayeon was being a little clingy because he still wasn’t feeling the best.

You only made it because Taehyung picked you up at the daycare so you were able to make it with 10 minutes to spare.

And within those 10 minutes, Soo-ah tried to explain to you everything you had to get done within your first day. How things work around here, what Jungkook expects and what you need to do when it comes to his schedules and meetings. But before she could explain to your role during meetings, Jungkook arrived and Soo-ah nervously went back to the first floor after getting a glare from Jungkook.

You mentally prepared yourself for the hard week but you never would’ve guessed how it would’ve been.

At first you let it slide. Jungkook was an annoying prick who knit picks on everything you did.

“This should be like this”

“You shouldn’t do that”

“Do better”

Blah blah blah.

You could let that go because at the end of the day, you were learning. But what completely irked you was when this man would throw in snide remarks or unnecessarily snap at you for the smallest things. And it’s infuriating because he’s nicer to everyone else BUT you.

Yeah you get it, you left him in the dark and hurt him. You understand that completely. But you would’ve thought he would be professional about it.

You forget how petty he can be.

Which led you to this, your final day before he makes his decision whether to keep you as his assistant or not.

You were currently at a meeting with Jungkook on your left. You were jotting down notes and different aspects from the presentation that you found important.

It was your job to make sure Jungkook ensures the right decision to know whether or not to go with a new product.

When you were in college, you majored in marketing. You have general knowledge about the wraps of product selling. And you can clearly see what’s missing from this presentation.

The lack of public interest and planning can definitely make the stocks go lower if they don’t make changes. So you of course, wrote down everything that needs improvement.

After the meeting concluded, you were about to go up to Jungkook to let him know your thoughts but he just walked past you.

You gaped at the air before turning around and catching up with him. “Sir!”

Jungkook ignored you as you made your way to his office. How he got there so fast? You have no idea.

He let out a sigh and sat down on his chair. “Mr. Jeon, I had some thoughts about the recent presentation–”

Jungkook let out a scoff before looking at you. “Your job is to assist, not put your two senses in my business.” He clipped. You bit back your tongue and stared at him.

“Yes, I know but I just wanted to—”

“Go get me coffee” He dismissed. You huffed out a breath before turning around and making your way out of the room.

This man won’t listen. You’ve been trying all week, not allowing your shared past to get in the way of your work and you can admit, you’re doing well.

But he’s being difficult.

You went to the staff room and quickly made your way to the coffee machine to prepare Jungkook’s coffee.

You still remember the way he took it, even if he won’t admit it. The first day, he got mad because it tasted exactly as you used to prepare it. And he told you, he only took his coffee with no sugar.

Black.

But he hates black coffee, unless it's an americano. It gives him headaches, so he at least puts one teaspoon of sugar and some creamer to cool it down.

But he loved the way you made it the most. It was the perfect blend of sweet and strong.

He pretended he didn’t like it. That's why you always left two cups on his desk every morning, and he of course drank the one you used to make him.

“Look, it's her. CEO Jeon’s assistant” You heard one of the girls whispering behind you.

You’ve seen her a couple of times, she always had a hard glare in her eyes every single time you made eye contact. Why? You have no idea.

“Like come on, he’s probably sleeping with her that’s how she got this job. What’s the likelihood of someone like her getting a job like this?” She says to her friend. You scoff before turning around.

“What?” She said with a smirk.

“Are you done?” You replied.

“What are you talking about?” She feigned ignorance. You poked your cheek with your tongue before looking at her.

Walking up to her, you stared at her right in the eyes. “Sweetheart, you can talk as much shit as you want. But I see the way you look at him, you wish he even passed you a glance. If anyone here is desperate to get in his pants, it would be you, not me.” You told her. She sneered at you before standing up as well.

You didn’t back down and you two stared at each other. “What? Have nothing to say now?” You asked in a mocking tone.

She suddenly grabbed her cup and threw the contents inside of it all over your shirt. You let out a gasp and looked at her in surprise. She smiled and raised her arms up in surrender.

“Oops?”

“Oh you little bitch” You said, about to prance at her.

Suddenly someone grabbed your arm and held you in place. Your back hit a strong surface behind you. Your nose caught a whiff of the familiar scnet of the man you’ve loved for so many years.

Jungkook.

“That’s enough” He said, glaring at the two girls in front of you. You didn’t dare look at him as he let go of your hand.

“Ms. Kim, I would like to see you in my office.”

You internally sighed before turning around. The girl who threw coffee at you smirked in your direction before you walked out of the room, rolling your eyes.

You knocked on Jungkook’s office door, nervously waiting for him to let you in. Once your heard his voice you saw him sitting on the edge of his desk, white sleeves rolled up and a stern look on his face.

You silently walked towards him, keeping a good distance away.

“You can’t stop causing trouble, huh? Can’t even get a simple cup of coffee without causing a problem.” He angrily said. It wasn’t your fault. That girl was being a bitch.

“I wasn’t–”

“I don’t care. She’s one of my best workers, and your superior. You have to respect her.”

You scoff at him. “Like I would respect a rude ass bitch who was talking shit while I was in the room. What was I supposed to do?” You said. You were fuming. Your blood was already boiling from that encounter and Jungkook keeps adding fuel to the flame.

“Leave it alone, you’ve always been so rash and never think things through!”

You knew there was hidden meaning behind his words. You knew you were rash and hard headed. Your daughter got that from you. But you’ve always known to stick up for yourself.

“Jungkook, I’m not like that.”

“That’s the problem, isn’t it?” He asked. He let out a sigh and looked you in the eye.

“I can’t hire you.” He said. You looked at him in alarm. You immediately regretted what you just did. You should’ve kept your cool, you’re not even hired and you just ruined your chance with your anger.

“I can’t let anyone who’s as irresponsible as you to work at my company.” He said.

“It wasn’t my fault!” You tried telling him. “You’re just doing this because you’re angry with me! Do you see my shirt? Why would I purposely cause a problem?”

You walk up to him and grab his hand. “Jungkook please, I need this job.”

He scoffed and brushed your hand off. He stood up to make his way around to his desk chair.

“Thank you for your time, I will get security to escort you out—”

“Jungkook please.”

“It’s Mr. Jeon to you.”

That’s it, all your hard work is done. You look down at your feet, defeated.

“I’m sorry.” You mean it. You’ve meant it for lots of things and hopefully he can understand that. Sneaking a glance at him, he was facing towards the window, not even sparing you a glance.

You were about to leave when suddenly Jungkook’s office doors burst open. You and Jungkook look up surprised to see Taehyung out of breath. “Tae? What are you doing here?”

Taehyung ignored his friend before looking at you. “Where's your phone? I’ve been trying to call you.” He said. You look at him in confusion before grabbing your phone out of your pants pocket.

Shit you left it on silent.

You look down at the screen to see

21 missed calls from Taehyung.

9 Missed calls from Mom

30 Missed calls from Miyeon

5 Missed calls from the twins daycare

You look at your brother in alarm. “What happened?” You ask him. Immediately questioning your brother. You were too caught up in what was going on that you weren’t able to answer your phone. What if something happened to your kids?

You’d never forgive yourself.

Jungkook looked at the two of you confused. You guys aren’t even paying attention to him anymore.

Taehyung looked at your worried expression with tears in his eyes. “It’s Jayeon…He had a seizure.” He said.

And that’s when you felt like your heart would’ve stopped.

You and Taehyung were currently in Jungkook’s car. You were scrambling everywhere once you heard the news, trying to get all your stuff so you can get to your son. Taehyung lent his car to Soo-ah since she was on lunch break, so you knew you needed to take the bus.

But the bus would take too long. You were about to hail a taxi but it’s peak rush hour right now, everyone is on their way home. You were literally considering whether you can run to the hospital from here.

But Jungkook offered to drive you guys to the hospital. You would’ve refused but Taehyung immediately accepted. You couldn’t fight him on it right now, you just needed to see your kids. Jungkook doesn’t even know what’s going on, he heard the word seizure and acted.

You were nervously twitching in your seat. Taehyung and Jungkook were in the front while you were on the phone with Miyeon. You, Taehyung and Miyeon are the kids' emergency contacts. Luckily she was able to make it there so they wouldn’t be alone.

You should’ve stayed home today. Jayeon was telling you last night that he wasn’t feeling the best and you considered staying home. But your mom told you to finish your last day and get him checked by the doctor when you got home.

You should’ve listened to your gut.

Now here you are, pulling up to the emergency room with the two tall men trailing behind you.

You walk up the reception in a frenzied state. “Where is my son?” You ask worriedly. Jungkook looked at you, surprised at the word that came out of your mouth.

She looks at you in surprise. “What’s the name?”

“Jeon Jayeon” You said. You didn’t glance at Jungkook, knowing if you did, you’d break down right now.

“Y/N?” You heard someone call out. You look up to see Miyeon walking with Jiyeon in her arms. Your daughter turns at the sound of your name and her face immediately scrunches up.

“Eomma” She said, brokenly. You walk over to her and grab her in your arms.

“Shhh shhh baby, I’m here.” You told her, trying to keep your own tears at bay. Miyeon nods her head at Taehyung before she nervously glances at the sight of the man that haunted your dreams.

“Come, his room is this way” She says, leading you down the hall.

The boys trailed after you as you hurriedly made your way to his room.

Miyeon slid open the door to reveal your son, laying in the bed, pale and sickly looking. You felt your heart break at the sight of him all alone. You never felt more disappointed in yourself. Your kids needed you and you weren’t there.

You sat down on the chair beside his bed with Jiyeon on your lap. Taehyung stood beside you, staring at his nephew with tears in his eyes.

“Jungkook, you can come in.” Miyeon said. You look up to see Jungkook frozen at the door. He was looking at the kids with wide eyes.

You looked away, not wanting to get into this right now.

“Eomma, I’m tired…” Jiyeon said. You nodded your head and placed her on the couch on the side of the room.

“Take a nap, I’ll be here when you wake up.”

You tapped her body a little before she started to slowly doze off. Jungkook was still standing in place. Not knowing what to do.

Suddenly, he got startled at the sound of the door opening again. It was the doctor that was taking care of Jayeon.

“Mrs. Jeon.” He said.

“Is my son okay?” You ask, standing up. You didn’t bother correcting him. It’s a common mistake since your kids have a different last name than you do.

You just didn’t want to see what Jungkook thought.

The doctor let out a sigh. “I wish I could say that, but he’ll need his surgery as soon as possible or I’m afraid it can become more complicated, even fatal.” You look down at your son with tears in your eyes.

“I don’t—I don’t have enough money—”

“I know and we can–”

“How much is it?” Jungkook interrupted.

The doctor looked at him in bewilderment. “Around ₩54,520,620”

“Do it, I’ll pay for it.” He said. You and Taehyung make eye contact before you shake your head.

“Jungkook, I–”

“I said do it, that’s final.” The doctor looked at you to be sure and you just sighed out. He nodded his head before walking out. Taehyung and Miyeon looked at each other nervously.

“We’ll go check and see if there is any paperwork we have to fill out.” He said, grabbing Miyeon’s arm and rushing out, leaving the two of you alone.

You let out a sigh and sat back down on the chair beside your son's bed. Jungkook slowly walked up and looked at the boy laying down before turning his head towards the girl on the other corner.

“Y/N” He said, voice thick with emotion.

"Please tell me this isn't what I think it is" He asks you with tears in his eyes. you look down at the sight of your son with an oxygen mask on his face while your daughter is sleeping on the couch near the wall.

You look into his eyes, broken and sad. You've dreamt of this day for years, wondering how he would react. But here you are, hoping he would have met the twins under different circumstances.

"Yes...They're your children."

He let out a breath before sitting down on the chair beside you. “What–How–”

“I’m sorry.” You told him. He looked at you, tears running down his face.

“I can’t believe you.” He said angrily. You felt your breath hitch in your throat. He looked at you with so much anger that it made tears run down your own face.

“Jungkook please, I’m–”

Jungkook has always wondered what the hell urged you to leave him. He’s done everything he could in the last 6 years to forget about you. But the second you came back into his life, he never felt more relieved to see your face but at the same time, he's never felt so angry. Now looking at the sight of his two kids, sitting in the same room as him and he never knew?

He can never forgive you for this. He stood up from the chair, needing to get out of there and breathe. His children are right there, as much as he wants to yell at you right now. It’s not the time. He can’t break down, not in front of them.

He needed to leave.

“Sorry isn’t gonna fix this, not this time–” He said before walking out.
