So what if the “No metas in Gotham” thing scared Danny Fenton away from Gotham City?

What if Danny gets a grant or scholarship at Central City University?

What if Danny gets an internship job as an assistant Forensic Scientist at the Central City Police Department?

Ok so hear me out:

The Rouges in Central City are much more chill and jokey than most superhero protected cities and have a good relationship with The Flash and would remind Danny of Amnity in that sense.

Danny’s entire obsession with protection and also a likely mentality of “Police and law enforcement have been horrible to me in the past so I will do everything I can to make sure what happens to me happens to no one else” would make him strive to be an honest protector of the people. He could be a cop and Barry Allen works with him because he knows that Danny isn’t corrupt. A reverse Batman and Jim Gordon if you will. He could also be a Forensic Scientist that recently joined CCPD and Barry Allen is assigned to be his mentor to show him the ropes. Either way The Flash grows to respect and care for this really strange kid who’s eyes sometimes look green as a trick of the light.

Danny using his powers to help solve murders, crimes, and ghostly shenanigans in Central City by talking to the local paranormal entities and recently deceased and pretending that he just is really really good at his job (well he is, but he has a bit of ghostly help.)

The Flash and Kid Flash notice this strange white haired meta zipping around and go to meet him and find out that he’s roughly Wally’s age. The speed force feels a bit strange around this kid, Like he’s been a part of multiple time altering changes. He doesn’t seem malicious though and the kid is really funny so Barry is going to let this ghostly meta do his own thing.

Phantom and The Flash start teaming up. Having an extra person in a battle is always nice. The Flash also notices that this Phantom kid is always DELIGHTED to fight Captain Cold. What The Flash expected to be a long battle that would end in almost frostbite and a long night with little to no sleep ended up being a five minute excursion. The Phantom reveling in the low temperatures and freezing Captain Cold’s cold gun and feet with a more crystalline and shinier type of ice. Instantly ending the battle.

Phantom fights Abra Kadabra and loudly complains to Abra while fighting how stupid Abra’s gimmick is and that it doesn’t look like real magic.

Phantom helps dismantle Weather Wizards plan to blot out the sun by simply turning the giant storm clouds that the Wizard summoned into snow.

The Flash is completely dumbfounded when the Reverse Flash shows up at his work, taunts Barry Allen, when Phantom comes out of nowhere, possesses The Reverse Flash, who then asks the location of the nearest containment facility that’ll house a speedster. Danny/Reverse Flash proceeds to run himself to the location, lock himself in, and exit Thawne’s body. The amount of awe Barry feels can’t even be put to words. Barry Allen’s arch nemesis. Defeated by a ghostly kid who has bi weekly hangouts with his nephew to binge watch D-list horror movies. What the fuck.

Danny has a great relationship with Barry. The two quickly bond over being quippy and aren’t annoyed when the other is consistently late to every possible meet up. Danny is incredibly dexterous and knows his way around the lab and Barry is happy to chat with someone who happily will talk back and ramble on about their life and has a genuine want to help others.

If Barry asks Batman on tips with how to take care of an overworked and constantly exhausted kid that’s between him and the Bat.

Barry mentally adopts this strange coworker and if he spotted the kid behind the CCPD building turning into Phantom? That’s none of his business and for Danny to reveal to him on his own time.

Life Assurance Policy

Ghost King Danny has inherited all contracts made with Pariah Dark but doesn’t know it until he finds himself pulling a bullet out of Bruce Wayne.

He was instantaneously summoned in Ghost King regalia to a shooting in progress. Luckily, he had taken Clockwork as his mentor and could bend time just enough to take a bullet out of someone and put it back into the gun it came from. He was as surprised as anyone else at the gala to have saved his life, but was trying to be casual about it to hide his panic. He jumped right to being annoyed about being all the way in New Jersey when he had a test tomorrow.

He stole the Joker’s wallet to pay for his coffee tomorrow morning and left him with the police. Pointedly not saying anything of who he was or why he was there.

Clockwork broke the news to him about his newfound inheritance. People were still able to make contracts with the ghost king when he was in the sarcophagus, but since Pariah couldn’t hold up his end of the bargain the contracts would be voided. Someone must have made a contract before Danny became king but only became relevant when the bullet was already in Bruce Wayne’s heart. They had to check the castle’s archives and found a solitary valid contract. A contract to preserve the life of one Bruce Wayne until his natural death. Paid for on completion with the eternal human soul of the signer.

Cue phantom sheepishly ringing the doorbell and asking to see Mr. Pennyworth about a Life Assurance policy he purchased.

Okay soooo… Zombie Ghost/or Jason Todd and Danny friendship.

Danny’s in Gotham. He’s a runaway because I want him alone for this one. He feels drawn to a Gotham cemetery (ofc he is, thematic and all) and keeps returning to this one grave. He doesn’t know why, just that something about this grave was different. He picks up a dying bouquet from another grave and lays it down on it. The dead don’t mind a little sharing.

Then he meets Bruce Wayne. The man asks him why he’s placing stolen flowers on this grave. Obviously, Danny tells the man off (“What’s it to you?”) since he has had enough rich assholes in his life.

Then Wayne says that Jason Todd is was his son. Danny never made the connection because they always called Jason by his first name or the Wayne boy in the papers. And now Danny feels really awkward that he’s been caught by the boy’s father and even rude.

So Mr. Foot-In-Mouth Fenton blurts out that they knew each other from the streets. If there was one thing Danny knew about the Wayne adoptee, it was that he were plucked from the filth of Gotham. One cursory glance at Danny’s clothes was enough to know that Danny was among said filth.

Bruce Wayne offers to take Danny out for a burger. He agrees. He digs a deeper hole as Wayne talks about his son and Danny goes along with his lie. They leave, not before Wayne hands Danny a card and tells him to call if he ever needs something.

“Anything for a friend of my son.”

If guilt wasn’t eating him before than surely he’s nothing but bones now.

Superboy-Prime does his whole reality shattering punch in Infinite Crisis (dunno if there was another way that happened) and Danny was at the grave as Jason woke up. He hears clawing and suddenly knew why he was there. Definitely some Clockwork bullshit if he had to guess.

He helps the manic and disorientated Jason Todd out of his grave. Then he calls up Bruce Wayne with the crumpled up business card and ends up talking to Tim Drake instead. [Its night and reality altering shenanigans ensued, of course Bruce is out as Batman]. Danny doesn’t he really care and hurries out that Jason Todd just came back to life.

Tim, knowing reality altering shenanigans are ensuing, gets Alfred and drives to retrieve the formerly deceased boy(s). Danny does his best to keep Jason calm and helps anyway he can. Coming back to life never was fun. The poor boy eventually passes out and they take care of him at the Manor. Bruce comes as soon as the Crisis is over. Danny keeps to the lie the best he can just so he can help Jason.

This will eventually result in Danny staying in Wayne Manor and Jason thinking he forgot a friend of his because he was dead for six months. Danny digs himself even deeper as Jason’s condition worsens and the only solution he seems to think of is ectoplasm.

TLDR: Danny accidentally gaslights his way into the Batfam because it’d be too awkward to tell the truth.
