my personality is so manufactured. i own none of it. my handwriting comes from the girl i sat next to in fourth grade, my sense of humor comes from my best friend in third grade, the way i sit comes from the lead character in a movie i once watched, the way i type comes from one of my classmates in sixth grade…. am i not allowed to have something to myself? am i not allowed to be someone?

I love that there’s this new sub-genre of movies being made about historical writers that were secretly lesbians (Vita & Virginia, Wild Nights With Emily).

But…where’s my Rachel Carson biopic about her love letters to Dorothy Freeman? These two wrote such intimate letters to each other that they met up once to specifically burn a whole stack of them for fear they would be discovered. And while their love was never confirmed…come on…read a few of these letters and tell me they didn’t love each other.

We could call it Hyacinths for Rachel. Or Summers on the Sea.
